Naomi nodded.

"I would never inflict myself on Osa constantly," she said. "I have my place and she has hers." She grinned. "That way, I can keep my house comfortable and not have to worry about freezing anyone else out."

Harry snorted. "Sounds like a good plan," he admitted. He would probably kill Thomas if he had to live with his half-brother.

Osanna just grinned and nodded. It worked out very well for them.

"Likewise, I would never inflict my family on her, and I try to minimize contact with her family," Naomi added. "Things tend to work out best that way." She knew she could never completely avoid dealing with Osanna's grandfather, but she did try to keep contact to an absolute minimum. And there was no way in hell she was going to introduce Osanna to Orion, Andromeda, and Cassiopeia. That would just be badness all around.

Harry nodded with a wry smile. "Yeah, I know that feeling too."

"You would," Bob said, his voice dry. Harry didn't even bother with a reply.

Naomi shrugged a bit.

"At least you and what's-his-name get along," she said. "That's a plus. My half-brother and half-sisters don't like me at all."

"Thomas," Harry supplied. "We've had our share of iffy moments. Besides, I have threatened him a few times."

Not that he'd actually hurt Thomas, most of the time, but still.

"My sisters kicked me out of my father's home a few summers back," Naomi replied. "At the height of summer and everything. I just went back home because I wasn't going to fight them over it. My brother just didn't bother stopping them." Granted, Orion tended to be away a lot of the time, but the times that she HAD seen him, he seemed indifferent to what was going on.

Harry shrugged. "Sometimes people do stupid things because of their prejudices." Okay, a lot of the time, but oh well.

"No kidding," Naomi agreed. She shrugged. "I make it a point to stay away from my family whenever I can. I've got my mom, that's enough. And I've got Osa." She glanced at her friend.

Osanna just grinned at her and decided that was enough permission. So she plopped herself next to Naomi again, leaning against the elder's side contentedly. Harry just coughed to hide a little snicker and tactfully didn't comment.

Naomi couldn't help but snort and give Osanna a playful shove.

"Really, Osa," she said. "Honestly."

Osanna looked up at her, making her eyes huge and watery while sticking her lower lip way out. She even sniffled a little.

Harry had to bite his lower lip to keep from laughing. Oh this was priceless.

Naomi rolled her eyes.

"I'm immune to that look, Osa," she said. "We've been friends for too long for that to work." But yeah, she understood that she'd walked right into that little joke.

Osanna just grinned at her and shrugged, as if to say "your loss" and settled herself where she was.

Harry just shook his head, amused by the two girls.

Naomi rolled her eyes.

"We grew up together," she commented to Harry. "We've been friends for as long as I can remember. Hence the ability to joke around like that."

"I guessed," was all Harry said about that.

"Too bad you don't live together," Bob said, a bit mournfully.

"Bob!" Harry glared.

Reaching over, Naomi knocked on the top of the skull.

"We're not here to indulge your lesbian fantasies," she said. "That's what the internet is for." Not that she'd seen a single computer since arriving in this world, but still.

"Harry doesn't have computers," Bob grumbled. "Harry fries computers."

Harry sighed. "Computers, credit cards, cars... Anything made after World War Two is iffy, in my books." He shrugged.

"So I don't have access to the internet, and Harry's too straightlaced with buying me romance novels."

Naomi blinked. She wasn't sure what was stranger; the fact that Harry seemed to be the human equivalent of an EMP, or that he had to buy Bob romances.

"Like, bodice-ripping romances?" she asked. She glanced at Osanna. Naomi herself had a weakness for the occasional romance novel like that.

"Sometimes," Bob said with a grin. "Okay, mostly."

Harry just rolled his eyes. "It's easier to bribe him than to try to pry information out of his when he doesn't want to talk."

Osanna just grinned. Sometimes those books were fun.

Naomi rolled her eyes as well, trying really hard not to laugh at him.

"And you never thought to ask any female acquaintances to get the books for you?" she asked. "No offense, but in my experience, men never know how to pick romance novels." She paused. "Okay, I have a gay guy friend who can, but he's a different story. But still."

"Harry doesn't have female acquaintances," Bob said with a grin. "They tend to either kill him or they hate him for some reason. Except Molly."

"Bob..." Harry glared at the skull. Bob gulped and fell silent.

Naomi smothered a snort. Somehow, aside from the 'wanting to kill him' bit, that didn't surprise her at all.

"Molly's still female," she pointed out. "And therefore would have decent taste in romance novels, I'm sure."

Harry shrugged. "I'll ask her next time she's here, then." Bob generally didn't complain about the romance novels he picked out, but maybe he'd enjoy something different. And Harry could always get something out of the different books, he was sure. New information, or something.

Naomi nodded a bit, and then an idea struck her.

"Hey, Bob," she said, grinning a bit. "What's the answer to the great question of Life, the Universe, and Everything?" Hey, the two worlds seemed to be similar enough so far, why not this, too?
