Robin looked briefly impressed, reaching out to touch the ice before he nodded.

"Well, I have good news and bad news."

Of course. There's always good and bad. Osanna sighed. Niko hid a smile behind his hand.

"Let's hear it, then," Naomi replied. She almost wanted to quote from a cheesy animated movie: "There is only news, there is no 'good' or 'bad.'" But she didn't.

"What, you know what's going on?" Cal asked.

"Sort of," Robin hedged. "I know someone else from your world. Actually two people." He shrugged.

Osanna blinked. That she hadn't expected.

And the bad news?

"They've been here for nearly three hundred years, and the person that brought them here died a few decades ago." Robin looked at them.

Naomi blinked as well.

"Who are these people, again?" she asked. "And what are they?" Clearly, the people weren't human, if it had been three hundred years since then, so it was save to assume they were either demons or half-breeds.

"Both are full demons," Robin said patiently. "One works with ice, like you do, and the other works with fire."

Naomi considered that for a moment.

"They don't live together, do they?" she asked. "Because that's not necessarily... right. Opposing elements and all that." It was mostly a token question, but it still brought to mind one particular fire demon that she hadn't seen for a few days... and was actually starting to miss.

"Oh, they live together." Robin smirked. "They're mates."

Osanna blinked. Twice. She wasn't quite sure what to think about that.

Naomi blinked as well.

"Fascinating," she said. I can't imagine the fights over the temperature of the house, though, she added to Osanna. She was intrigued by the idea, though. She'd never heard of such a pair working out before.

Robin snickered at them. "I believe they have separate rooms when they need them," he said, grinning briefly.

Osanna just rolled her eyes. You temperature-dependent people are weird anyway.

"Hush, you," Naomi said to Osanna, although she was still grinning a bit at the tease. "I've been okay so far since we left home."

"What did she say?" Cal finally spoke up. He was curious, and tired of being left out of the loop when everyone else was clearly in on both sides of the conversation.

"She was teasing me about being temperature-dependant," Naomi replied. "Which is true, but still."

"You would know if you'd paid attention when I tried to teach you sign language, little brother." Niko looked faintly amused.

Cal just waved off the admonishment just like every other time. It wasn't all that important.

"Ugh, I WISH my brother was that nice," Naomi commented, rolling her eyes a bit. "Really, I do."

Niko quirked an eyebrow at her, reaching out and swatting Cal without even looking.

Osanna grinned. Okay, she liked Niko. Definitely.

"You done asking questions?" Robin asked, glancing back towards his bedroom.

"Nope, one more," Naomi replied promptly. Okay, she was just being a bit annoying now, but she DID have one more question, anyways. "Where are those other people? The demons?" She wanted to go find them and see if she could talk to them, or at least talk to the ice demon. Maybe they knew of a way to get back home.

"In Vermont," Robin said with a shrug. "They have a maple farm out there. They don't leave very often."

Then he grinned. "Have fun with those two," he said to the brothers. Niko looked contemplative. It would be interesting to meet these two individuals, but going to Vermont? That would be a pain.

Naomi blinked. Vermont? Well, she supposed the weather DID get sufficiently cold there for at least part of the year...

"A maple farm?" she repeated. "I guess it could be weirder, but..." she trailed off.

Cal just rolled his eyes a little. He hated long car rides like that, and going to Vermont was at LEAST six hours, if not more. He glanced at his brother to see what Niko thought.

Niko sighed. He had the feeling that they'd be going to Vermont. The girls had no other transportation, and he himself was rather curious about this whole thing.

Good thing Cal didn't have work tonight.

"Yes. Now scram." Robin made shooing motions with his hands.

Naomi obediently got up and headed towards the door, already thinking about ways to get to Vermont. She wasn't going to assume the brothers would help them out, so she wanted contingency plans, just in case.

Cal was kind of curious, too, actually. And hey, if it didn't involve getting nearly killed, it was good in his book.

Niko led the way back outside, looking at the girls.

"Since you do not have any other means of transportation, we will accompany you to Vermont."

Osanna blinked. Really?

"That's... oddly altruistic," Naomi said carefully. Then again, people had been nice to them for the entire 'adventure,' but it still struck her as odd.

Cal glanced at his brother, but shrugged. Seemed Niko was calling the shots, and that was fine by him for now.

"I am curious," Niko said simply. Besides, this wasn't a big thing for them. And not very far out of the way. Yes, a long car ride, but they'd done much worse.

Naomi considered that for a moment.

"Well," she said, "maybe on the way there we might be able to exchange a bit more information. We tell you about us and where we're from, you tell us more about you and this place." Sounded fair to her, at any rate. And hey, she wasn't going to refuse a free ride.

Niko nodded. Fair enough.

"Do you need anything before we leave?" He glanced back at the two of them. He wasn't going to go get anything for them, but he gave them the option of taking a bit of time before they left.

Naomi shook her head. She didn't need anything, and had no way to GET anything even if she did. She glanced at Osanna, just to make sure.

Osanna shook her head. Niko just shrugged and started walking, leading the way to the car. Might as well leave now, then.
