"Case and point," Naomi commented, tilting her head towards Osanna. "But now I have to figure out how to get it to behave long enough to get were we want to be." That phrase seemed vague enough to be safe, at least. She would have to be very careful about her words in the immediate future.

"Well, there's always trial and error," Harry suggested with a shrug. "Figure out what it responds to and then figure out how to get to where you want to go and you should be okay." Should. Hypothetically. If everything worked as it should and Murphy's Law didn't kick into overdrive.

"Well, this should be buckets of fun, then," Naomi muttered. She gave the book a Look, already trying to figure out how to get it to send them properly home.

Osanna looked at the thing distrustfully. Think we should start figuring out how to use this thing so it doesn't keep dropping us randon places?

"I'm already thinking about that one," Naomi assured her. "Because I'm thinking we started a few people when things were going on." Oh yes, she distinctly remembered startling the Leandros brothers (at least, she was fairly sure that's who she saw) and she was sure that there were other people milling about Genkai's temple now.

Osanna nodded. Okay. Well do you think we should go around and let people know what's going on so they don't start freaking out whenever that evil thing decides to fling us around? She glowered fiercely at the book. From the other side of Mouse.

"I think that's a good idea," Naomi agreed. "I'm pretty sure I surprised a few people last time." She glanced down at the book, but didn't make any move to go over near Osanna. She almost wanted to try on her own first, before she tried to drag Osa around with her on purpose.

Well, I guess just make sure you get back here sometime. Osanna settled in with Mouse, seeing that Naomi wasn't making a move to drag her with.

"Oh I will," Naomi replied. "Unless you want to join me?" Hey, it was a fair question, and she could also legitimately assume Osa wouldn't enjoy the trip much until it was more controlled.

Osanna wavered for a few moments. I think I'll stay here for this trip. As soon as you come back around, though, I'll go with again. Which was okay. She didn't like going through those portals while awake, and she was quite happy bonding with Mouse and Mister for the moment.

"Fair enough," Naomi replied. Gingerly, she held the book in both hands. "Here goes nothing, then..." She took a moment to figure out how to word it properly. "Take me to the next stop?"

The book was silent for a moment before the world changed. The Leandros brothers briefly had a view of Naomi crashing into their living room before she vanished again, only to be dumped out sideways in the middle of Osanna's garden. The book lay there quietly on the ground, though it seemed smug somehow.

Naomi swore colorfully when she was dumped into Osanna's garden. That wasn't what she'd wanted to happen, damn it. Apparently, she hadn't been clear enough.

"Damn book..." she muttered, picking it up and brushing herself off. "You know perfectly well what I meant... So take me back, or send me backwards one world."

The book glowed again and took her back. Back to Harry's apartment. Meaning she flashed through Genkai's garden, which was still teeming with people, and she dropped briefly in front of Rockbell's place, before she was in Harry's living room again. The book was practically laughing at her.

"Good," Naomi muttered. She'd seen the familiar, surprised faces when she popped through Genkai's garden, but she hadn't had a chance to do more than recognize them before she was gone again. That would be her second stop. "Now, take me forward one world." And hopefully, that would be specific enough.

The book seemed grumpy about her having figured it out. So it dumped her out on top of the table in the Leandros's living room.

"What the hell?" Cal demanded, putting his gun down again with a little twitch.

Naomi yelped as she was dropped out onto the table.

"Damn it all..." she grumbled. "Damn book..." She tried to get up again and only succeeded in falling off the table and dumping herself onto the floor. Once she managed to scramble to her feet again, she dusted herself off and turned to look at Cal.

"Magic book," she offered by way of explanation.

"Magic book?" Cal repeated, clearly dubious. "What, does it give you free stuff or something?"

Niko swatted him without even thinking about it.

"If by free stuff you mean free trips through space and time, then yes," Naomi replied, picking up the book from where it had landed on the floor. "I'm sure you both noticed as I tumbled through your living room a few times."

"It was rather hard not to notice," Niko said dryly, absently straightening the book of Cal's he was using to make the table even. "I assume that is what the book does?"

"As far as I can make it tell me, yes," Naomi replied. "Personally, I'm glad to even make it behave this much, it's really kind of irritating." Cautiously, she opened the book to the pair of blank pages in the center.

That is just because you don't see the humour from my point of view, the book replied, the pages actually ruffling a little. Were you in my position, you would be having a grand time, I assure you.

"What the fuck." Cal stared at the book, a muscle under his eye twitching.

"My thoughts exactly," Naomi assured Cal. She turned the book so the brothers could read the pages. "Like I said... irritating magic book. Now I need to see if I can get to the next place on my mental checklist without too much crashing around." Which was probably too much to hope for, but still.

"Does it have an established pattern?" Niko asked, peering down at the book with a mixture of curiosity and assessment. Clearly he was trying to figure the thing out.

"As far as I can tell," Naomi replied. "This place is fifth on the list of places I've been, and I seem to see them all in a particular order." She hefted the book again, closing it. "Time to try this again. Wish me luck." She tapped on the cover of the book with a finger. "Two more worlds forward." According to her mental flow chart, that should land her right in the middle of Genkai's temple grounds.
