Eventually, Naomi wandered her way back out to the main room. Settling back in with her mug of tea sounded good for a little while, and there was no reason she couldn't watch the stars for a little while while she waited for the sun to rise again.

Hiei followed her outside and sat watching her for a little while before he dropped down a few feet away from her. He didn't say anything, though.

Naomi jumped slightly when she heard him drop to the ground. She really, really hated not being able to sense if anyone was there. She squinted for a second until she could just barely make him out in the darkness. She didn't say anything, either, though. She wasn't sure what to say.

With a huff, Hiei sat down sort of near her. He'd spent some more time talking to Yukina, so he felt better now.
Didn't mean he owed anyone an apology, though.
"Yukina thinks she would have found out with or without your little hint."

"I think so, too," Naomi replied. "I even remember saying so." She was still worried that he was upset with her, but it was slowly translating into a little anger. Her emotions seemed to get all jumbled up when he was around. She was careful not to say anything else, though, lest she really make him angry at her.

"Hn." Hiei looked over at her. "I didn't want her to know." He still sort of wished she didn't know, but it had turned out okay this time, so he wasn't really angry.

"Why?" Naomi asked. She didn't turn to look at him, mostly because she couldn't see him in the darkness. Her eyes still needed to adjust more, and the moon was barely more than a sliver that offered no light.

"I have enemies that would take advantage of her," Hiei said. There were multiple other reasons, as Kurama knew, but he didn't feel the need to tell her everything.

"Shouldn't she be allowed to have an opinion?" Naomi asked. She knew she wouldn't want to be kept in the dark about such things, but she didn't have much basis for comparison; any enemies of her father or siblings wouldn't bother with her.

Hiei merely nodded. He'd already talked to Yukina, and they'd agreed the temple was safe enough while she was visiting the humans, and the Floating Isle was very safe.
"She understands."

"I'm glad it got hashed out, then," Naomi replied as she pulled her jacket around herself a little more. Damn her current inability to adjust her body temperature... It wasn't actually cold out, but it was a little chilly and she felt it more than usual. Briefly, she wondered how much longer until sunrise.

Hiei let out a noisy breath. Noisy for him, anyway. "Sunrise is another hour away," he said quietly, shifting subjects abruptly. He'd overheard the whole explanation already, and he didn't miss her tightening her jacket.

Naomi opened her mouth to ask how he knew what she was thinking, and closed it again. Hell, he was able to get into her head somehow once. Why not again?
"Later than I thought, then," she said softly. "Unless the sun rises earlier here for some reason, but I doubt it does."

Hiei shook his head a little. "Rises earlier in the summer." He knew because the sun had woken him many a time from a comfortable perch and he still felt tired.

"That's normal," Naomi murmured, more to herself than him, but audible all the same. She was quiet for a moment. "It's worst closest to midwinter." Summer wasn't the season that bothered her, in regards to her human nights; midwinter was hardest for her. The longest nights of the year in the coldest weather often had her bundled up in too many blankets or hiding out at Osanna's house to keep warm.

"Hn." Hiei glanced at her before he shifted closer to her. He wasn't going to apologize to her, because he had nothing to apologize for, but he could lend her some heat. Since he was always warmer than a human and gave off heat.

Naomi moved a little closer to him, as well, although she didn't realize quite how close until her hand brushed the fabric of his cloak. She pulled her hand back quickly.
"Sorry," she said.

Hiei looked at her for a moment before he looked away again, silently dismissing her concerns. "Every month?" he asked, quirking an eyebrow at her.

Hiei nodded and stayed there, letting her warm up some. He was quiet for several moments.
"What else?" He was curious about any other inconsistencies.

"Anything else different?" Hiei frowned a little. He forgot sometimes that most people needed a little more prompting in the correct direction when speaking to him.

"I... don't know," Naomi said after a moment of thought. "I'm not sure what hanyou are like here. I've gathered that Yusuke is something of a special case." She had no real basis for comparison, and the general differences between the worlds had been mentioned once or twice before already.

Hiei nodded. "The only hanyou I know are... mindless." Lower-level, barely above their base instincts, those hanyou had not been worthy of his consideration. The only time he paid them any attention was when they were in his way.

"Then our worlds differ there," Naomi replied. "Half-breeds like me aren't all that uncommon. Some are the result of a human woman being taken as a mistress," like Naomi herself was, "others are from a proper union, but they're all typically sane and intelligent." There were always exceptions, of course, but they weren't the majority. "Weaker than their full-blooded counterparts, of course, and too strong to be accepted amongst humans, but sentient all the same."
