Hiei nodded. "But you can become stronger." He'd seen that for himself. It wasn't surprising, really, but he wanted to see how much stronger she could get.
"A little," Naomi replied. "I'll probably never rank more than a higher-end Three." She paused for a moment, converting her world's classification system into his. "That's, what, somewhere around a C-class?"
Hiei nodded. "About." Between a C and B, but he'd have to wait and find out as time went on. He found himself rather curious.
"That's most likely where I'll top out and plateau," Naomi said. "Given my heritage and lineage, at least."
"Hn." Hiei nodded. They'd just have to wait and see how well that actually worked. He suspected she might be able to go a little higher than that. If she pushed.
Naomi was quiet for a few moments.
"As much as I hate visiting that side of my family," she said quietly, "I am grateful that I got some more training. I have a bit more control now." She'd only ever lost control once before, and it scared the hell out of her. |
Hiei nodded. "I could help," he offered after a few moments. He probably could, anyway. He'd figure something out if she wanted to improve.
"I couldn't ask for that," Naomi replied quietly. Someone who actually wanted to train her, rather than just out of obligation? It was almost too good to be true.
Hiei snorted. "Did it sound like you had a choice?" Because now that he'd seen she had potential, he figured he would help her get better... even if she didn't want his help.
"At first," Naomi replied dryly. "Now I know better." She grinned a bit. She wasn't sure why, but that had made her feel better.
Hiei nodded his approval of that. "Good. We'll start tomorrow." Meaning he'd give her the day off after her being human, and then he'd start training with her.
Plus it gave him time to come up with a suitable regimen. |
"I promised Yukina I would take her home with me for a few days," Naomi said, not quite in protest. "Could I do that first?" And maybe grab some of her things from home at the same time; she wasn't prepared for an extended stay.
Hiei tilted his head to the side a little. "There is still snow where you live?" he inquired. He was curious, but he wasn't just going to ask to go with her.
"Last time I was home, it was spring," Naomi replied. "And we had a very mild winter, so we didn't even get much snow then. But the weather shouldn't be getting too warm yet." She paused for a moment. "You could come too, if you like."
Hiei nodded. "That would be acceptable," he said. Which was really his way of saying thanks. He looked up briefly at the sky as it started to lighten, slowly at first, going from almost black to midnight blue to royal blue.
Naomi watched the sky getting a bit lighter, as well, and got a bit anxious. Sunrise was so close, but it wasn't like sunset when her youki would gradually wane and vanish. It wouldn't come back at all until the sun broke the horizon.
Hiei sat with her for the next half hour as the sky turned pink and purple and light blue, and then, finally, sunshine spread across the tops of the trees.
Naomi sighed in relief and relaxed as the sun finally rose. Her youki came back to her quickly, like water filling a container, and her scalp prickled slightly where her hair was regaining its translucent blue streak. She shrugged out of her jacket.
Hiei watched the process, fascinated. Not that he was about to say anything to that effect, though.
Osanna came bouncing out just after sunrise to go check on them, grinning briefly. |
This time, Naomi could sense Osanna coming up behind her.
"Back to normal, Osa," she said, turning around to face her friend. |
Osanna nodded with a grin. Good. I just beat Yusuke's ass so now he's grumpy. Her grin widened at that.
Hiei looked at the quarter-youkai for a moment before he flitted off. He thought it best to give them a bit of time before he showed up again. Might as well, anyway. |
Naomi raised an eyebrow at her friend.
"And how many tries did that take?" she asked. She glanced over when she sensed Hiei leaving, and she found she was actually a little disappointed. She'd gotten kind of fond of him hanging around, and he wasn't bad to talk to, when she could get him to speak. |
Osanna shrugged. Three or four. He's predictable. She grinned. So, what are your plans now? Because she knew that Naomi would have plans.
"Going back home for a while," Naomi replied, getting up and grabbing her jacket. "I promised Yukina a visit, and Hiei is going, too." She looked at her friend. "What about you?"
Home sounds good, for a few days at least. I need to check on my plants again. Osanna smiled. Think that's enough people for one trip? She was debating if she should offer to ask Kurama if he wanted to come or not this time.
