Hiei let her, rolling and pushing her off to the side again. He could do this. She didn't have any weapons besides her nails, and even if she did manage to catch him he wouldn't be injured for long. So he smirked again, waiting for her next attack.

Naomi jumped at him again, intent on causing as much damage as she could. The snow under her turned to ice wherever she touched it, but she ignored it. For the moment, she had an opponent to take down.

Hiei just kept dodging or pushing her away, letting her do whatever she needed to work out the aggression. He didn't hit her, though, or even try to.

Eventually, Naomi ran out of both energy and rage and collapsed to her knees in the snow. She was shivering hard as she wrapped her arms around herself, and the blue in her hair shrank to less than a fingers' width.

"My mother's not a whore," she murmured, mostly to herself. She stuttered as she spoke with how hard she was shivering.

Hiei moved over to her, carefully, making sure she wasn't about to attack her again before he scooped her up and started walking back towards the house. Hey, he was warmer than the ground, and he figured it wasn't good for her to be so cold.

Naomi let him carry her, and she huddled against him. She was freezing, now that she'd spent all her energy, and he was much warmer than anything else.

"Thanks," she murmured to him.

"Hn." Hiei jumped up to her room easily. "Would you like me to retaliate?" He could easily raze the whole place to the ground, and they both knew it. Fighting off the whole family would be slightly more trouble, but he could still do it.

"No," Naomi replied after a moment. "No, that would just end up being more trouble than it's worth." But she was damn sure that as soon as she stopped shivering, she was packing her things and leaving, and damn what her father had to say about it.

Hiei nodded and set her on her bed, keeping her room warmer than the rest of the house for her. That way maybe she would be more comfortable.

Naomi shuddered a bit when he let her go, and she pulled one of her blankets up around herself. He was very warm, and she didn't want to let that go. And yes, okay, he was oddly good to snuggle close to, although she wouldn't admit that.

Hiei noticed she was still cold so he spent a little more energy heating up the room further for her. There. That should be sufficient, for the time being at least.

Naomi gradually stopped shivering, and slowly ventured out from under her blanket. She was surprised her room hadn't been stormed by the family yet, but she was grateful as well. Once she was sure she was warm enough, she went and gathered up the things she had brought with her. Then she pulled the book out of the place she'd hidden it. If it could get them back home without her having to go through the rest of the manor, then she would take it. She opened the book to the middle pages.

Hiei stood close to her in case it did work. That way he wouldn't be too tempted to burn the place to the ground on his way back to her house.

Back again, are you? Do I look like slave labor to you?

"Hush," Naomi replied absently. "I haven't asked you to do anything more than you do already. I just wanted to ask a couple of questions. Are you able to send people just across space, rather than between dimensions? Like across real distance within the same dimension?"

Hypothetically, yes. No one's ever tried before. But rest assured if I can't you only end up a few realities away.

"Then do you think you can get us from here to my house?" Naomi asked. "Please? I really don't want to have to deal with my relatives anymore, and I can't stay any longer."

The book didn't reply, but glowed a little bit, and sent them tumbling back just outside her house. Just because it had to get some ill will in there somewhere.

Hiei managed to remain upright and caught Naomi before she could fall on her face.

Naomi stumbled and dropped the book when they landed, but managed not to fall on her face when she was caught.

"Thanks," she said softly to him as she got her feet under her again. She relaxed instantly once she looked around and saw the familiar sights of her own house. "Home... so much better."

Hiei nodded silently and picked up the book, handing it back to her. He glanced around to figure out where the others were before he turned his attention to her again.

Naomi took the book and sat down on her couch, sinking gratefully into the cushions. It was warmer in her house than it had been at the manor, and she was glad. She would likely be feeling the cold for a while. She shuddered slightly when she really realized what had happened.

"I'm sorry you had to see that," she said softly, at last.

Hiei shrugged. "It's fine," he said quietly. "I have seen worse." And he had. Much, much worse. Besides, she had been fairly easy to deal with, actually.

"Still," Naomi replied softly. "I don't like doing that. I don't like going cold. It scares me." Which was the truth. She hated being so out of control like that, and hated that she could be pushed to that point.

Hiei was quiet for a few moments. "I doubt you can ever learn to truly control it. Even I have problems." He scowled briefly at that before looking over at her. "Better control and more training will help, though."

"I just hate that I can be pushed to that point so quickly," Naomi admitted. She looked down. "It's happened once or twice before, and it's always just like that."

"So you find your trigger and do what you can to immunize yourself." Hiei shrugged. It made perfect sense to him. Find the weak spot and work on it.
