Osanna frowned, looking briefly like she wanted to hurt Andromeda herself. But, of course, she couldn't, so she just shook her head. Her fault, she signed. And it was, really. She didn't blame Naomi one bit for that.
"She would have torn me apart if I'd gotten the chance to try," Naomi pointed out. "You know she would have. She's at least a Four."
Yeah, I know. But it's still her fault. I almost wish I could go beat her for you. Osanna made a face. She'd be even worse off than Naomi, but oh well.
"What if she might be right?" Naomi asked quietly. Osanna knew about her insecurities. "What if I really am just nothing?"
If you were nothing we wouldn't be able to travel to other worlds, Osanna argued. Even if it is by accident. If you were nothing your step-mother wouldn't be trying so hard to get rid of you, she'd just leave you be.
"She sees me as an insult," Naomi pointed out. "Not as any sort of threat. It's different."
But an insult is still different than nothing, Osanna pointed out. Besides. If you were really nothing would Hiei be stalking you and sitting up in that tree watching the whole thing?
"At this point, I'm not sure what to think," Naomi replied. She hesitated, and switched to signs for a moment. Although, I'm kind of glad he is. It's kind of comforting.
Osanna smiled and nodded. Good. Well, let's get going before it gets too late, hmm? I do need some time to cook something decent.
"Alright," Naomi said, getting up. She offered a hand to Osanna. "You don't have to put up with me, you know."
Osanna waved that off. It's not putting up with if it's voluntary, and I want to. Now stop complaining before I sic my plants on you. She grinned at Naomi.
"I'll step on them," Naomi threatened teasingly. "You know I will."
Not if they're on top of you~ Osanna grinned. Because this was much more normal and comforting.
"Sic them on me and they will die," Naomi vowed, grinning. "I'll make sure of it." Unless they were The ice roses. She'd have issues killing those.
Osanna just grinned and shook her head, leading the way over to her car. Come on. Let's go get your car before we have to wait until tomorrow.
"Right," Naomi replied. She followed Osa to the car and got in. She was grateful for the time with her friend, even if it was 'chaperoned.'
Osanna drove easily over to the train station, though she'd only been there a few times before. Really, it wasn't hard to get there.
I'll see you back at your place later on. I'm going to stop and get a few things. |
"Alright, meet you back there," Naomi replied, nodding. Pulling out her keys, she got out of Osanna's car and into her own, and then started back towards home."
Osanna got what she needed before she headed back to Naomi's house, parking her car at her place and just walking over to Naomi's. And she gathered Kurama along the way.
Hiei had followed them out and back and now was settled in Naomi's house again on a windowsill. |
Naomi was settled on her couch wearing long pants and a three-quarter sleeve shirt--not long sleeves, but not short ones either. She had a book in front of her, but she wasn't really in the mood to read; she was still in an odd mood from the trip.
Kurama was surprised that the other two were back so quickly, and suspected something had gone wrong. But he would wait until he got Hiei on his own to ask what had happened. |
Osanna went over to the kitchen to start cooking, still quite cheerful. Hey, she got to cook, and she could already tell everyone else needed a bit of cheering up. Hopefully dinner would work well enough for that.
Hiei glanced over at Kurama before settling his attention on Naomi again. |
Kurama nodded in greeting to his friend, and then raised an eyebrow in question. Yes, something happened. Hiei was being protective of Naomi.
After a moment, Naomi got up and followed Osanna into the kitchen. She might not be much help, but she could still watch her friend cook. |
Hiei watched Naomi leave before he looked back at Kurama, waiting until the fox was close enough before he spoke again. "She lost control."
Osanna glanced back at Naomi and grinned, working on cutting things up first. |
"I see," Kurama replied. "What happened?"
Naomi just watched. Osanna knew what she was capable of, and would set her to task if she felt so inclined. It did occasionally happen. |
Hiei shrugged. "One of her half-sisters insulted her mother. She tried to kill her half-sister, and I stopped her." Because it was basically that easy. He just left out some details.
Osanna put water on to boil and left a note. When it boils, dump the potatoes in. |
