"That, Edward, is a personal digital music player," Naomi replied. Absently, she checked the battery power and the earbuds. "This is what became of the record player, many many generations down the line."

"Huh." Ed looked at it, turning it over. "Does it still work?" Because now he was curious, despite himself. Oh, he knew Winry would like it more, but he was still curious.

"That's what I'm testing now," Naomi replied as she navigated the touch-cross control pad. After a second or two, she could hear faint music from the earbuds and grinned. "Yeah, it does."

Ed grinned briefly. "Well, Winry'll love this. You know you're never going to see it again right?" He grinned at her.

"That's why it's the one I don't use anymore," Naomi replied, grinning. "I have a newer, better one at home still. Much brighter and shinier and more advanced than this one."

Ed laughed a little, still looking at it curiously. "Yeah, good thing." He paused when something occured to him. "You know, her birthday's in a couple weeks. I could tell her it's from both of us instead of taking all the credit." Besides which, Winry was smart and would figure out Ed had gotten it from Naomi or Osanna sooner or later.

"If you want," Naomi replied, shrugging. She turned off the music player and wrapped the earbuds around it. Then she handed it to him.

Ed nodded and took it, storing it carefully in a pocket to give to Winry later. "Well, while we're here, do you want to keep looking around? Central's a big place. I know Winry likes to go shopping whenever she's here."

"Winry's a metal-head, she probably just goes to all the hardware stores," Naomi joked, grinning. "What places would you suggest otherwise?"

"She does some clothes shopping. But there's a great place a block away that has the best sweets and baked things." Ed grinned. Because he was a growing male with a black hole for a stomach.

Naomi snickered.

"Quickest way to a man's heart, indeed," she teased. Then she paused for a moment as she got an idea. "Do you know if they do spiced chocolate at all? Chocolate and chilis or anything like that?"

"Yeah, I think they have a couple different types," Ed said with a shrug. He'd never been into that much, but he'd noticed that it was available. "Come on. Let's go take a look. I doubt we'll see Al and Osanna for a few more hours, at least."

"Sounds good to me," Naomi replied, following him.

Ed nodded and led the way to the sweet shop, which was decently busy and warm and comfortable.

"Get whatever you want. I'll pay." Because, really, he never had to worry about money. Unless the prices were absolutely outrageous, but he'd learned to deal with that too.

Naomi nodded and perused the menu. She paused when she saw salted caramel brownies.

"Those," she said. "Oh god salted caramel chocolate. That would be the universe telling us it loves us and wants us to be happy."

Ed snickered and added that to the small list of things he was getting. Because he always got a few things for Al, too. "Anything else you want right now?"

Naomi glanced at the rest of the sweets and caught sight of a bar of spicy chocolate fudge. It would be perfect.

"That too?" she asked. She knew fudge was expensive if you didn't make it yourself.

"Sure." Ed added that. "Pick out something for Osanna, too. Might as well." Because otherwise he had the feeling Al would give him the Eyes, and Ed hated that.

Naomi nodded and pointed to the salted caramel brownies again. Salty sweet and chocolate. It was practically perfect. After a moment, though, she saw chocolate covered strawberries. Oooh, decisions to make now. She paused, weighing the options.

Ed saw her dilemma and grinned, adding some of the chocolate-covered strawberries to the list too and then handing it over. He didn't mind, and he and Al didn't normally binge like this so it didn't really put a dent in his earnings. Because the military paid their alchemists really well.

Naomi blinked, and then grinned.

"Winry will get some of those for her birthday," she said. "That's not a question. There is not a woman alive who doesn't like chocolate covered strawberries."

Ed blinked before he grinned slowly. "Well, that's good to know. Thanks."

He waited for the lady behind the counter to gather everything up and put it in a bag for him before he paid and moved outside again, finding a place to sit and sprawl out a little in the sun. "Here you go." He shoved the bag over towards her.

Naomi immediately reached into the bag and pulled out a strawberry, and she briefly closer her eyes in pleasure as she bit into it.

"This has to be the perfect food," she mumbled around the fruit.

"I've never actually tried one." Ed fished one out and started eating, taking his time. He blinked.

"That's actually pretty good. Not as good as some other things there, but pretty good."

"Supposedly the perfect food engages all five tastes," Naomi said. "Hence the salty-sweet-bitter of the brownies. But these have to be a pretty close second."
