"Pleasure." Duo looked at the girls. "So, you two been traveling with them yet?"
Yup. They know what's going on. Osanna grinned. Ed stopped and stared at the tablet. "What the hell is that and how does it work?" |
Al looked at the device as well, intrigued.
"She's writing on it as if it's paper," he commented, trying to get a closer look. Naomi just grinned. "It really is like complete opposite situations with technology," she commented to Osanna. |
Osanna nodded and handed over the tablet to Al so the brothers could poke around at it.
Duo blinked when he saw a flash of metal and he tried to get a better look at Ed's arm. Ed, of course, eyed him suspiciously. |
Naomi caught that and sighed.
"Okay, to get this out of the way... Duo, Ed has metal prosthetics replacing an arm and a leg. Ed, Duo could probably give Winry a run for her money when it comes to technology." |
"Wait. You can replace limbs?" Duo looked floored by that.
"Yeah..." Ed eyed him speculatively. "We can't even do that yet! And yet you still have trains!" Duo shook his head. "Talk about getting priorities straight..." Ed frowned. "Oh don't tell me your world is like theirs." He nodded at Naomi and Osanna. "We're more advanced than them in some ways." Duo grinned briefly, remembering the looks on the girls' faces. |
"In a lot of ways," Naomi corrected. "I am still of the very firm opinion that it is not natural for people to live in space, no matter how good the simulation of Earth is."
"Living in space?" Al squeaked. "How is that possible?" |
"It's complicated," Duo said, although he did grin briefly. "I'll explain later. Now, what is this alchemy thing?"
Ed smirked. "I'll show you." He clapped his hands together and then put them on the ground. A moment later an Ed-shaped hand hand scooped up Duo, lifting him a few feet in the air. "What the hell?!" |
Naomi and Al both ended up face-palming.
"I don't know why I thought this would be a good idea," Naomi muttered. "Brother, put him down," Al said. He could undo Ed's transmutation easily, but he didn't want to have to do that. |
Ed clapped his hands again and undid the work, letting Duo land on his feet.
"What was that?!" "That was alchemy." Duo glowered at him briefly. "And what did you do that for!?" "You said you wanted to know what alchemy is." Ed grinned. "Not like that!" Both of you sit down before I make you. Osanna shoved the pad between the two, glowering at both of them. Ed huffed and turned away, while Duo grumbled and took a step back. |
"Honestly, you two, it's been less than five minutes," Naomi said. "And don't you dare say 'he started it' or I'll force you both to cool down, and you won't like my definition of the term."
|
They both huffed, and after a minute Ed looked over at the girls.
"You two want anything? Al and I were about to stop and get lunch." You mean apart from things from the sweet shop? Osanna teased. "That was just a snack!" Duo's ears metaphorically perked up at food and he looked over at them. |
"More like that was comfort food, Brother," Al teased. Naomi snickered a bit.
"Sure," she said. |
Ed grumbled a little at Al and started walking, going over to a little place they frequented. "Get whatever you want. We can always share." He shrugged.
Duo was busy looking at the fresh fruits and veggies, amazed. And more than a little envious. |
Naomi glanced at Duo, making note of his expression.
"Go ahead," she said. "There's plenty. This is normal here." |
"Really?" Duo looked at her, eyes wide.
"Yeah," Ed said, sounding confused. "Get whatever you'd like." Duo grinned briefly, debating what to get. |
Naomi herself grabbed a pear, testing its softness, before putting it back. Not quite ripe enough. She glanced at her friend.
"What are you getting?" she asked. |
Osanna picked up a few strawberries before she grinned. I found a few good looking fruits.
Duo picked up a few things, and Osanna absently tested each thing before adding them to her basket. |
Naomi grinned.
"You're sharing those strawberries," she said teasingly. |
Of course I am. I figured I can cook once I see what all everyone has picked out. Osanna grinned.
"Oh home cooking," Duo just about groaned. |
"Have at it," Naomi replied. "You know I can't cook."
Al looked surprised. "You're going to cook?" he asked Osanna. "You don't have to do that..." |
Osanna shrugged. I like cooking, she wrote. Besides, I don't mind. It'll be nice.
Ed grinned briefly. "I'll chase everyone out of the kitchen for you." |
"She's actually pretty good at it," Naomi commented. "When I get sick of things I make out of a box, I'll bunk at her place for the night and mooch off of her leftovers." She grinned, only mostly joking.
|
Osanna rolled her eyes. And I make dinner once a month or so for both of us, as opposed to just expecting her to come over and making extra.
Ed grinned. "So how much food do you need?" Osanna looked at what she had in the basket. Probably not too much more. Rice, possibly bread, some kind of meat... Then I'll be set. |
"Grab some extra fruit, too," Naomi said. "Duo can take it back with him for later." Because she'd seen how amazed he was at the fresh produce, so why not let him take some home?
|
Osanna nodded and quickly picked out more fruit, piling it all into the basket. She pointed wordlessly to some chicken, and Ed picked it up for her, carrying it up to the front to pay for it all. Hey, he was getting a good meal out of it, so he didn't mind.
