Duo nodded. "Doesn't seem very fair." He smiled after a moment, darkly amused. "Sounds about normal."
|
Naomi shrugged again.
"Like I said, you shouldn't have any problems if we ever bring you home with us," she said. |
Duo nodded. "Well, not this trip. I should probably get back tonight after dinner." He shrugged. He'd already been away for a while, so he figured it was just about time to get back, anyway.
Next time, though, he'd plan ahead and have longer to go away. |
Naomi nodded.
"I figured," she said. "We'll get you back, no worries." |
Duo nodded. "I'm not worried. Just keeping track of the time." He stretched out again, content to be lazy for a while. It had been a while since he'd really been able to relax like this, after all.
|
Naomi settled back as well, content to watch Osanna play with her plants for a little while. Maybe after dropping Duo off, she would ask Osa if she wanted to go back to Genkai's temple for a while. The time away from their more familiar worlds was nice, but Naomi was about ready to head back and wanted to see what Osa wanted to do.
|
Osanna had a fair-sized aloe vera plant for Duo to take back with him by the time they'd had dinner, and she managed to make a pot to go along with it. Duo took both pot and plant like they might attack him at any second, but he took them all the same.
|
Naomi couldn't help but snicker at that.
"It's perfectly safe," she said. "Trust me, it won't melt your skin or eat your fingers or anything." She grinned. "Osa left those ones at home. Or most of them, at least." |
Duo paled more at that, looking at Osanna like she was nuts. She just grinned innocently.
"Well, long as it won't blow up or something when we get back..." Duo sighed. |
"It won't," Naomi assured him. Reaching over, she suppressed her youki as much as she could and touched the aloe plant. Nothing happened, except for the blue stripe in her hair narrowing to barely a centimeter or two. "See? Harmless."
|
Duo nodded. "Alright. That's good enough." He grinned briefly. "Bet you could sell these for a lot of money."
Not at home. At home there are people much better at it than I am. Osanna blinked then. Although in the other worlds I might be able to. No idea how we'd exchange currency though. |
"Who says we'd have to?" Naomi asked. "Keep what you make, and just use it in the world that it matches." Made sense to her, at any rate, and it seemed like a good idea to have 'matching money' just in case they needed it.
|
This is true, Osanna conceded. Well, it's something to keep in mind, at least.
Duo snorted. "Yeah, keep it in mind. But if you sell any people-eating plants I'd advise you run like hell." |
Naomi snickered.
"No, she saves those to use as home-security," she said. "Her evil little ankle-biters and finger-eaters." |
Osanna just grinned innocently while Duo rolled his eyes.
"Well, whenever you're ready, it's about time for me to head back." |
Naomi nodded and got up, brushing some grass and leaves off of herself. Then she dug into her bag for the Book and glanced at Osanna.
"You want to come, or stay here?" she asked. |
I'll stay. I'm thinking Mustang's office needs more plants. Osanna grinned ruthlessly. And I'll pick up more chocolate for us on the way back.
|
Naomi snickered. Oh yes, that would be something to see.
"You do that," she replied. "I'll be back soon." With that, she opened the Book and had it take her and Duo back to his world. |
Duo landed easily on his feet this time, having prepared himself for the trip, and he set the plant down carefully on a semi-clear table in his workshop.
"You going to stay for a while or head back?" He looked over at Naomi. |
"Probably head back," Naomi said. She stretched, then shrugged a bit. "It's probably about time for Osa and I to really head home, soon, anyways." She mock-pouted for a moment. "And I kind of need to stop being a pansy about it, but that's just me."
|
Duo snickered but wisely didn't comment on that.
"Alright. Well, feel free to drop in again sometime." He grinned. |
"Next time my PC needs repairs, I promise," Naomi replied with a grin. Opening the book, she glanced down at the pages. "Alright, time to go get Osanna and head home."
|
The book sort of fizzled and spat bluish-green sparks, but didn't do anything else.
"...That doesn't look like it's supposed to happen." Duo blinked. |
"It's not," Naomi replied as her eyes widened a bit. She flipped a couple of pages and turned back to the two blank ones. "Come on, don't screw with me now," she said to it.
|
The Book didn't even have a response for that, which was unusual in and of itself. It stayed sill and silent after that little fizz.
