" He did that ?" Hoshi said with a giggle. " What was my grandfather like? Dad has told me a little bit about him. He said that he was a captain. " Hoshi asked. She knew that her dad didn't like to talk about the things that were painful to think about.

"He was fierce and strict, though kind," he agreed.

" Sounds like dad. He's a fierce fighter and can be strict but he's a very kind man. " Hoshi said. She knew after her mom was killed her dad had become strict, but he softened up since he knew Hoshi could fight back.

Saburo chuckled lightly, glad to hear that his brother hadn't changed much.

( Happy 4th to you too!! Not going to be on tonight. I'll be at a movie until late.)

Katia like hearing about her uncle Tetsu and was happy that Saburo accepted her. She was happy to be a part of a family that loved her.

(which movie? Lone Ranger?)

Saburo grinned lightly, having a feeling that Katia was happy to know that he accepted her as part of the family. It wasn't her fault that she was kidnapped at a young age.

( Despicable Me 2 in 3D. I'm a big fan of the first one and have been looking forward to the sequel.)

" Was Uncle Tetsu always good at art?" Katia asked, She was happy he had loved the gifts of a sketchbook and pencils on his birthday and wondered who had taught him.

(alright. I never watched the first one so I wasn't going to bother watching the second one. Though I do admit that it looks cute)

"At first, he was pretty decent with art, but it allowed him to get into a pretty good art college. I heard it was where he met your mother Hoshi-chan," he said.

( it wasn't bad. I liked 3D better than I thought I would.)

" It was where he met my mom. She was studying to be a graphic artist. " Hoshi said with a sad smile. She still missed her mom and hoped she was at peace.

(I usually stay away from 3d since it's just a gimmick. Some movies do it well, but...)

Saburo saw the look of sadness on Hoshi's face and kicked himself mentally. "I'm sorry Hoshi-chan, I didn't mean to bring up bad memories."

( it is over priced. I do like standard movies better though. )

" It's alright. I was just thinking of my mom. I wish you could have had the chance to meet her , since she would have loved to hear stories about my dad when he was younger. " Hoshi said with a giggle.

"I'm sure she would have. I didn't get to see her much since after your dad went into college, I was drafted into joining the Royal Guard," Subaro admitted.

" Dad said once you tracked him down after he faked his death but you didn't kill him when he told you why he had to run. " Hoshi said and was grateful her uncle had understood that Aizen wanted to kill his younger brother.

"I did. I wasn't happy that he had to fake his death, but I understood the reasons for it and went along with it, reporting it back to the captains at the time," he said as he remembered that time.

Hoshi nodded." I just hope anyone doesn't try to kill him again like what happened today." She said and was glad she was able to meet her Uncle Saburo finally.

"I hope no one attacks him either," Subaro said.

" Uncle Saburo. What exactly are the Kido Corps?" Katia asked. She hoped he didn't mind her calling him uncle , but felt that her uncle Tetsu was like a surrogate dad to her.

"The Kido Corps was a group that focused on using Kido techniques to help subdue Hollows and help Shinigami from long range. It was filled with exceptionally talented shinigami that were well-versed in the arts of Kido. Why do you ask Katia-chan?" Saburo asked, not minding her calling him 'uncle'.

" Just curious. " Katia said , since both she and Hoshi had been hearing some of the Shinigami talking about it today.

"Alright," Saburo said with a chuckle, knowing that they was most likely the truth. He, too, had heard the rumors about himself.

" Is it true the Matsuda family is a noble clan?" Hoshi asked. She remembered her dad saying it was once but didn't mention it again to her.

"It is, but don't let your dad know about it. He doesn't like mentioning it," Saburo said as he answered his niece's question.

" I won't say anything. Why doesn't he like mentioning it?" Hoshi asked. She knew her dad liked the simple life as an engineer and had always done his best to keep thier lives normal, even after she had become a Shinigami.

"The same reasons that Yoruichi doesn't like mentioning that she's part of a noble family," he responded. He actually remembered that the Goddess of Flash hated being reminded of her noble status, the reason being was that she wanted to be her own person, not just get by on the merits of her clan and knew that his brother was the same way.

Hoshi nodded and understood. She knew her dad liked being his own person and not what others wanted him to be. He had raised her to be her own person and she didn't like people telling her who she should be either." I've really enjoyed talking to you Uncle Saboru. " Hoshi said with a smile.

Katia understood also, since all her childhood she had tried to be like what the Vandenreich wanted her to be. She was glad now she had the chance to be her own person. " So have I. " Katia added.
