The Last Battle {SilverSnake and musikfreakx}

They thought it all ended. He Who Must Not Be Named was defeated. The battle had come to a close. Lives had been lost but the war finally seemed to be over.

But they were wrong.

It's roughly 27 years later, when the daughter of Harry Potter and the son of Draco Malfoy are living their own final year at the famous Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. But to everyone's disbelief, Lord Voldemort is back, and the sons and daughters of some of the greatest and most well known students to ever grace the halls of Hogwarts must finish the battle that had calmed, but never truly ended.

The battle has only begun.

The Great Hall of Hogwarts was a strange sight that night. Normally, the air would be filled with the sounds of students laughing and sharing tales of the holidays. Nervous new students would wait for their turn in an incredibly large line to be placed in their houses by The Sorting Hat while older students would sit and watch, waiting to see who would be their new friend or enemy. Everyone would share the excitement of a new year at Hogwarts, and even the most bitter of wizards would smile slightly in anticipation, not knowing what kind of adventures would await them in the great castle. However, this year was different...

The recent activities of the Dark Lord, Voldemort, had put everyone on edge. The number of students present at the Great Hall was a lot smaller than other years and the nervousness that hung thick in the air did not come from excitement, but fear. Parents had kept their children from going to Hogwarts, not knowing if it was safe there anymore after the events of the previous few years. That meant that many people who did attend would not get to see their friends that year and were left wondering about their own safety. Others, however, went to Hogwarts because they had nowhere else to go during the year and because it would offer them a good opportunity to train their wizard skills against the dark times that were upon them. And some, as Scorpius himself, went there because there was nothing he could be afraid of - whole his family were dark lord's servants. Not too loyal, but still. It was some kind of guarantee he will not get hurt.

At the age of seventeen, Scorpius was an average looking lad. His height was nothing special and his body wasn't too built nor was it too slim. Straight blonde hair hung up to his shoulders, covering some of his slightly pale features most of the time and his pale blue eyes were always half-closed as they peered around with a bored expression. That night, he wore his new Slytherin robes over a black shirt with the design of a tuxuedo drawn on it as well as a pair of black skinny jeans.

As he stepped into the Great Hall, scorpius noticed the absence of many of the people he had met during the years as well as the general emptiness the feast was offering. Quiet muttering filled the air, making the place seem more darker than it actually was. His feet took him up until the point where the four tables began before he stopped to inspect the place more carefully. His pale blue eyes darted from student to student, making mental notes as to who would be present this year and who had decided to abandon their studies for their own safety. He felt a brief moment of sympathy for those that were there.

"Tch..." he muttered, tilting his head back to stare at the cieling. "Let's hope something interesting happens this year".

The atmosphere in the room weighed heavy on Lily Potter's shoulder. Teachers looked nervous and grim at their long and elegant table, trying to appear put together as the students sat at their tables and walked into the Great Hall. Students were quiet, not as loud or festive at the feast as was accustomed to the Great Hall of Hogwarts.

She had walked in the room mere moments before, looking around for the faces of the friends she had made in her first year. She knew a lot of the people at Hogwarts, and her caramel eyes searched for the closest to her. Looking everyone over, her plump pink lips turned into a frown. So many were gone, kept at home by their parents who were too afraid that something would happen at the school.

Before leaving her father had told her to not be afraid, that she was a brave girl like her mother. She actually wasn't afraid, at least for herself. The others there, the ones that were pale faced and wide eyed like deer caught in headlights, were the ones she was afraid for.

Others had already asked her what was going on, why was the dark lord back. Her father was supposed to have defeated him. A few Slytherins had even made snarky comments as she walked past, but she had learned early on to roll her eyes and walk away. It wasn't worth her time.

In honesty she had no idea why Voldemort was back. Her father was just as confused as her, and her mother confided in her that he was taking it hard on himself. Her older brothers had been visiting at home, had seen her off on Platform 3/4 Quarters along with her parents.

Lily Luna Potter's light red hair shone in the lights of the candles floating above her, caramel brown eyes darting around the room. Her pink lips pursed, extremely lightly tan skin contrasting against the color of her Gryffindor robes, underneath which she was wearing a pair of light blue skinny jeans that fit her small waist perfectly, and a long sleeve dark purple shirt with a V neck cut. She was lean and tone, about an inch above the average height.

"Okay guys, where are you," she mumbled, eyes searchign for one of her cousins or friends. A tall blond girl passed her and waved, Lily smiling and returning the gesture. She glanced over her shoulder as the Great Hall doors open, seeing Scorpius walk in. She grumbled under her breath and looked away, taking another step up.

The more Scorpius looked around, the more the strange sort of happiness within him grew. Death Eaters, Dementors, headmaster detesting mudbloods... It was a formula that made the whole Hogwarts experience seem like hell and the best place around on the earth in the same time. Still, he knew that staying there was still his best option, even though he would be bullied and mostly by fellow Death Eaters, still not forgetting about his father, his grandparents being such a cowards last time. It was a poor thing to look forward to, but at least he had faith in his magic. That was all he really needed.

As headmaster made his speech, Scorpius slowly made his way over to the farthest end of the Slytherin table where he could sit alone and undisturbed. Only a few dozen students remained of other houses and, though he wanted to reach out and band them together, he knew that those of pure wizard families would end up in trouble if anyone saw them talking to him. Next to him, he could hear and feel the glee of the fellow Slytherins who were linked in some way or form to the Dark Lord. This year, their house would be the top house, no doubts. For once, Scorpius was extremely glad that he wasn't in Gryffindor.

Once the speech was over and the food appeared, Scorpius began to quietly help himself. He wasn't particularly hungry, but he knew he would need his strength. After taking a few bites of beef, he turned to examine the Gryffindors table and everyone in it. More than likely, this would be the table he would have to be careful with and so he didn't want to expose his back to them during the entire feast. However, his mental list of enemies suddenly dropped out of his mind as his eyes fell on the young Lily that sat at the table.

Scorpius wasn't exactly the best at reading people or interacting with them, but even he could tell there was something odd about the young red-haired girl. Of course, Potter. He sneered slightly, still not looking away - she used to be cheerful and extremely annoying, and now... No wonders Lily didn't look like having her best days - people were quite annoying, blaming it on her that her father couldn't defeat the dark lord. For some seconds, Scorpius even felt sorry for her.Not only that, but there was something about her that made her stand out from the Gryffindors in his eyes. He wasn't sure if he was imagining it, but she seemed kind of sad.

For a looooooong time, he merely sat there, staring intently at the girl as he tried to read her as best as he could.

At last Lily Potter's hazel eyes, a combination of her mother's blue and father's green, as well as a touch of blue, landed on a friendly familiar face. It was a brunette sitting at the Gryffindor table conversed and smiled with a few others, oddly happy even with the solemn vibe in the room.

Lily Potter's graceful frame made it's way to the red and yellow house table. A sigh of release escaped her light rosy pink lips. She sat and glanced about before smiling at the girl, Hazel, that she was seated next to. Her smile instantly fell when the headmaster began the long speech. Lily found his words to be almost true, save for a few details he let off that her father had told her. Those were top secret though, and she'd be sure to not reveal what she knew, at least for the moment.

The headmaster finished talking and invited them all to feast, as should be. Lily was hungry, but couldn't find much of her appetite knowing the nearby Death Eaters, the smirks of Slytherins as they passed her, and the fear in the room surrounded her.

Clearing her throat, she put a few of her favorite items on her plate. She was quite quiet, an odd trait for her, at the table and she was lost in her thoughts. Slowly she was pulled out of her raging thoughts and questions. The redhead glanced at Hazel, listening to her question of what she knew. Most of the Gryffindors had heard, looking at her expectantly. "Not much more than you guys do. My dad's working on it," she said in her soprano voice, nervous of her statement.

Luckily for her, the Gryffindors were all loyal to her and her father and the legacy of the house. "He'll figure it out. He is Harry Potter," a blonde haired male said from a few seats to her left. She smiled and nodded, flashing her pearly whites to ease the questions at the table. She resisted from rolling her eyes. She was extremely proud of her father, infinitely so, but she didn't let it go to her head. And it was hard being his kid, considering the high expectations.

Feeling eyes on her, Lily's brow furrowed and she swiveled in her seat. Biting on her bottom lip, her eyes scanned over the house tables before reluctantly going over the Slytherin table. Her eyes stopped when she saw Scorpius looking straight at her. Refraining from raising an eyebrow at him, she met his light pale blue eyes.

A tap on the shoulder distracted her from matching his staring blue gaze and her head whipped around, a few fiery tendrils fell in front of her eyes and with the quick swipe of her hand she pushed them out of the way. Now her eyebrow did raise and Hazel asked her who she was looking at. "No one, just looking around. There's not many to look at anyways," her voice came out smooth and Hazel nodded, turning her chocolatey eyes away from her.

Turning once more, Lily looked back at Scorpius, not wanting to stare for two long. Things would just get weird. She bit her lip again and finally smiled at him lightly, though she knew their families weren't exactly on the best of terms. Sighing, her caramel gaze glanced back up at the glowing candles above her, one of the zillion of things she so greatly admired at Hogwarts.

((Sorry this post is kinda meh. I don't have much time and I've been super busy >.< ))

Scorpius kept on staring at Potter's girl, hoping to understand what she had on her mind. He wasn't the one to get fooled by fake smile she had put over her face for the entire feast, but it obviously did a trick for Gryffindors. Blonde couldn't help but sneer at their naivety - it was written down their faces, that stupid kids, dressed in gold and crimson, still had hope left, that the famous brilliant Potter will save their sorry asses again. But Scorpius, as good as other Slytherins, who's families were serving the Dark Lord through first and second wizard wars, knew that their hope is just an excuse, just a desperate need to believe in something.

Taking a bite on roasted beef, he still couldn't get eyes off Gryffindor's table, which seemed to have the most of people, after Slytherin, of course. 'Of course', Scorpius though, letting a sneer curved on his lips to become even bigger. 'They're the 'brave ones' after all - while Ravenclaws and Hufflepuffs are running away, the mudbloods of Gryffindor remain in Hogwarts.' Unconsciously stabbing his steak by fork, blonde offspring of Malfoys shook his head - even saint Potter wasn't pureblood himself. Just as his highly respected, wise grandfather said - nowadays people don't care about blood purity anymore. This fact was making him angry.

Scorpius blinked surprised, as Lily turned at him, eventually piercing eyes into his. He didn't expect it, and anything that didn't meet his expectations, was making young Slytherin angry. If he knew that Lily would hear him for this distance, he would yell at her, asking what is she staring at. Blonde frowned, willing to put all the awful words he'd like to tell her just in his look, and then Lily broke the eye contact, turning away. Scorpius couldn't help it but blink again, becoming even more irritated.

Beginning to work on his dinner again, blonde sort of calmed himself down, though his inner voice was telling him to hex the insolent ginger as soon as they get out of the great hall - after all at times like that rules didn't matter anymore... If you're in Slytherin house, of course. Scorpius has just began of thinking what kind of spell he should use, as Lily turned again, awarding him by a smile. "What was that for?" He heard himself saying, causing strange looks of Slytherins sitting nearby. Blonde boy quickly looked down, too confused to even frown.

For some unknown to him reasons, Scorpius felt like he could tear stupid Potter apart, just because of giving that silly smile to him.

musikfreakx 08-24-2011 12:22 AM

Lily's light brown irises had slowly descended back down just in time to catch Scorpius's confusion at her smile. His father must not show him much compassion, she thought to herself, not knowing if it was true or not. Her father had surprisingly not talked bad of Draco Malfoy, saying he was different now adays. Well Lily said she would believe it when she saw it, and if this was supposed to change her mind it wasn't working.

Her smile obviously made him irritated and Lily saw him mumble to himself, but she couldn't make out the words. This produced both disappointment and a tad bit of smugness in Lily, traits she didn't often possess. Disappointment was that this was what the supposed dangerous Scorpious amounted to. She guessed she had wanted him to be different than the other Pureblood Slytherins who teased her and poked fun at her, only silenced when seeing her amazing skills in Quidditch, she was the Seeker after all, and her wizarding and magic abilities.

But he wasn't different, at least from what she had seen. She was also smug that she had confused him, irritated him. That she had made those emotions arise in him, when Slytherins presented themselves to be unharmed, uncofused by everything and anything. Whatever, Lily thought to herself and with the roll of her eyes turned away completely, so her back was to him. She could still feel his penetrating blue eyes but ignored it.

Soon enough the Great Feast ended. Students were sent to find their dorms, unpack, prepare for the next day, and rest. Lily often used these days to walk around Hogwarts, to smile as she returned to her home away from home. Hogwarts had always been there for her, and her father, and she cherished it. So today was no exception.

Her graceful body, though nice and full, but not overly so, from the delicious foods of the feast, glided her across corridors. She easily used quick spells to get staircases that wouldn't otherwise work or respond besides to teachers or only the headmaster/headmistress themselves to work for her. She made sure no one saw, being careful and stealthy. Though everyone knew of her curious and mischevious doings. She inherited that from her Uncle George, she supposed, and if Fred were still alive she could say she got it from him too. Which she guessed she did anyways, but it was weird to talk about with others.

Lily Potter felt like dancing in Hogwarts, oddly enough for the glum mood. At Hogwarts, she could do anything, conquer anything. Her father had believed it and so did she. Smiling to herself, she let a finger run down the stone walls and nodded to the talking and moving figures in the hanging paintings, most of which were acquainted to her.

"Wondering 'round again are ya Miss Lily Potter," she heard a voice and glanced up at a man dressed in Shakespearean clothing, with an odd twirly mustache and his own michevious glint to his eyes.

"You know it, Rindol," she said to him mischeviously and laughed, a lovely sound emitted from her plump coral lips.

"I heard there's a secret passage your Uncles knew about a few corridors down. Just try playing with the stones in the walls," he advised and winked at her, referring to Fred and George. She winked back and continued walking, entering very rarely used areas that were mostly restricted to students.

Scorpius lazily kept on moving food in his plate by fork from one side to another, and only after feeling a slight hit on his elbow, sorta woke up. Shaking head slightly, blonde haired boy looked back at his food, which he actually didn't even start eating. With a slight frown he began stuffing his mouth my mashed potatoes, trying to imagine that he didn't even see Potter's girl.

Oh, and he still couldn't forget last year - in 6 years it was the very first time when Gryffindor has beaten Slytherin in Quidditch match. As captain of his house's team, and also seeker, Scorpius couldn 't forgive insolent ginger girl, dressed in gold and crimson. Young Slytherin was used to be the best in everything he was doing - getting everything he wants, so losing in battle with a GIRL, especially Potter's one, was more than just humiliating in his book.

Yet, Scorpius couldn't help himself and smile a bit, realizing that this year he's free to do anythig that his pureblood heart wishes - he's Slytherin. There's nothing that can stop him, nothing that could ever harm him. For once again young Malfoy couldn't help but praise his genes for being pure sly snake, since in dark ages like now, it was giving way more possibilities than responsibilities.

As feast was over, Scorpius forced himself to stand up. Yet feeling lazily, he only yelled "First years follow me!" and immediately headed out, not really meaning to wait for new students. He never asked for becoming a head boy of his house, nor ever liked that idea. Generally, blonde hated responsibility or work - just as all snobish people.

Unlike flow of students, Scorpius didn't head to the great staircase - instead he walked to the way leading to dungeons, and after running down round stair, he found himself standing in the cold hall, where all the walls made from rough rocks were decorated by torches, giving at least some light in this dark place. Blonde never felt like belonging here - actually only rats, spiders and other disgusting creatures would live in this darkness and coldness, so placing Slytherin's common rooms in there, was more or less insulting the offspring of noble Malfoy's family.

Scorpius realized that he was the very first so eagerly going to the bedroom. Others were still in the giant line to the exit of the Great Hall - once again he couldn't help but thank his genes for such a great ability to slip away from places first and unnoticed.

With a slight smile formed on his thin lips, young man walked down the empty hall, hearing echo of his own footsteps. Sighing briefly, somehow satisfied, he nodded at the portrait and after giving out password (Dark Lord), walked into old good common room.
