X School of Witchcraft and Wizardry (FireOnix&realAniram)
There's a secret world, of witches and wizards, and of danger and of awe. A world of magic. And magical users need to go to school, too. But the problem with that is that magic is everywhere, not just in Hogwarts or in Europe, no. It's also in America, which is why they built the simply named X School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The founding wizard, Master X, was a very suspicious man. Few saw him, but many knew of him and his passion for education. The sprawling school, built in 1973 in the Vermont countryside, is home to wizards and witches of all backgrounds, species, and status. A bit more modern than Hogwarts, this school was lucky when the Potter incidents came about, and managed to stay almost completely out of the whole mess.
Now two generations after Potter and his fellows have graduated, all of their living peers are old and instructing their grandchildren. In America, a new year of magic users is about to come forth and learn magic in X School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. ---------- Skeleton, to be filled in soon. ;] Name: Devona Foster Age: 12 Appearance: Brown hair and eyes, medium-fair skin with freckles across her nose. Name: Gwendolyn
Age: 12 Appearance: mauve(light purple) colored skin, teal colored hair, cobalt blue colored eyes Personality: Quiet and shy at first but once she gets to know people she’s out going and kind of a clown Talent: magic charms Background: As far as she knows she’s an only child. As told to her by the tribes’ people who raised her Gwen was born while her parents were traveling through the rainforest deep in Brazil. Her parents were pale skinned and came from a land they called America, they called themselves archaeologists. While they were trying to pass through the rainforest to get help from Gwen’s mother, who was about to give birth the tribe Gwen lives with now found the couple and helped the mother give birth. The exact details have never been told to Gwen she only knows that there was some kind of accident that made her parents go away. When Gwen reached aged ten it was time for her to take up a position to follow for when she got a little order. After several tests it was finally decided that she should be a protector. She was given special clothes that had special magical stones that are attached to her clothes. All of the tribal protectors share the same physical appearance thanks to the magic stones, the stones are powered by the moon but can give the wear powers any time of day. One day Gwen wondered too far away from her tribe and counts find her way home again. OOC: sorry that took so long. lol is my bio to long? |
((Nope, it was fine! Not longer than mine, anyway.))
Devona was extremely nervous. She didn't know anybody, and that alone was terrifying, but looking around her at all the trees was... She couldn't think of anything more terrifying than terrifying, but that's what all those trees and green were to her. In the west, in the desert, there were lots of plants, but not lots of green or these huge trees. At least the plane ride over was comfortable. Devona sighed, and pushed her cart of items down the long lane with trees on both sides. She saw other students doing the same, many of them clumping into groups walking together and laughing, their chatter even more distressing to her. |
Gwen only spent a day at the orphanage that she was taken to in Brazil. The people who ran the orphanage and the other kids treated her poorly from the moment she got there. The yelled at her, called her names and locked her in a closet soon after she got there. A nice woman, who called her self Ms. Dew, showed up the next morning and insisted that she be allowed to take Gwen.
The woman quickly took Gwen to the airport and they boarded a small passenger plane. Gwen fell asleep while on the plane. When she woke up she was in a strange looking room. Ms. Dew and Gwen spent the next month at Ms. Dews house, she put Gwen through a high past crash course in English. Now a month later. Gwen had never seen so many strange looking people before. She was thankful for all the trees and other plant life they put her at easy. Ms. Dew walked beside Gwen, she held Gwen hand and pulled the cart filled with all of the things Gwen was required to bring with her. As they joined the group of other students that were gathering Gwen hide behind Ms. Dew afraid that these people might be like the people at the orphanage. |
Devona looked around, and noticed an odd looking girl with an adult, seemingly her guide or mentor. Devona quickly looked back down at her feet. This was nothing like home, she thought she had even seen a boy with fuzzy animal ears and a tail sticking out of the back of his jeans. There were many others around who had odd hair colors, green, purple, pink, blue, even ones with all colors of the rainbow, but she suspected now that they might not all be dyed.
Devona wondered what her parents were doing right now. Probably not even up yet, since it was around four in the morning back home. Reminded of her native time, Devona yawned and tripped over her own feet. Face red, she caught herself and clutched the cart with white knuckles. Hopefully that wasn't an omen of what the rest of the year would be like. |
Gwen watched everyone carefully. Even though is had begun training to be a protector which meant she had to be brave but the idea of spending time with all these strangers and strange looking people terrified her. She squeezed Ms. Dews hand and tugged on the back of her jacket. "Its ok, youre going to have a lot of friends here." Ms. Dew whispers to Gwen and tries to pull Gwen out from behind her.
|
Devona saw the building up ahead, an imposing castle-like structure with quite a few windows (which Devona found reassuring). She hurried forward, pulling a piece of paper out of her jeans pocket that had her room number and and a map of the grounds on it. Room 304, top floor... That was going to be tiring. She wondered what they would do with the carts, she hoped they had an elevator or something.
|
Gwen followed MS. Dew inside the building and watched in awe as Ms. Dew pushed the cart she had into the stairs. The stairs seemed to magically catch the tires of the cart and pulls the cart up the stairs. "Things arent always what the appear." Ms Dew said smiling as she looked around at some of the other kids.
Ms. Dew pulled Gwen with her as she stepped onto the stairs, after their cart. The stairs pulled them up, like an escalator, Gwen had never seen anything like this before. |
Devona watched as the odd looking girl and the woman with her went up with stairs. She got in line behind the rest of the students who had already clambered up to the steps to await their turn on the escalator like stairway. The noise was getting louder and louder, as the students shouted at each other and laughed with one another. Devona kept her eyes either forward or on her own feet until it was her turn, and then she repeated the process until she got up to the third floor of the girl's dormitory building. She peered down the hallway, and pushed her cart up to the door of Room 304.
|
Was in her room, on the top floor, Ms. Dew helped Gwen unpack and put her things away. "Youll be sharing a room with another girl. Im sure you two we be good friends. Do you remember what I told you?" Ms Dew said smiling her kind smile at Gwen. Gwen nodded and turned to face her. "Keep practicing English and be nice." Gwen said trying to think if she missed anything. Ms. Dew laughed lightly. "Youre a sweet girl you just have to let everyone else see it. Theres no one else here like you and no one here is your enemy so no using your powers on anyone unless instructed." Gwen nodded and finished putting the clothes that Ms Dew had gotten her away.
OOC: If youd rather we didnt share a room I can change that. |
((Nope, I want us to share! Two to a room, no exceptions! xD Besides, I doubt either of us have enough money to get a single...))
Devona let out a small sound of surprise as the woman she saw earlier in the room she was assigned, with the strange girl. She checked her paper, and looked back up. The room was simple, and pretty small, but if they needed to they could divide it evenly down the middle... Devona pushed the thought out of her mind. No use thinking of that at this point, they didn't even know each other's names. "U-um..." Devona fidgeted, sliding the paper back into her pocket. "I'm, uh, I'm Dev..." She said softly. |
Gwen looked at Ms. Dew, Ms. Dew smiled and nudged her forward a couple of steps. "Hi, Im Gwen." She said smiling and held her hand out.
OOC: Ok cool |
Devona looked at her hand, and gingerly took it. "Nice to meet you..." She mumbled. She turned and grabbed her cart, pulling it into the room so she could put away her clothes as well. "I, um, well..." She stuttered, feeling like she needed to say something to add to a conversation.
|
Gwen looked back at Ms. Dew and encouraged her to continue. Gwen looks back at Devona. "Want some help?" Gwen asked moving to stand next to Devon. Ms. Dew smiles. "You two have fun and dont be late for orientation." she says before leaving the room, leaving Devona and Gwen alone.
|
Devona smiled at the lady as she left. "Um, yeah, you can help me..." She said, moving to get her bags out of the cart. "Hey, do you know when orientation is? Do we need to... Do anything special?" Devona asked the Gwen, suddenly nervous again. She had no idea what magic users were like, let alone a school. Gwen looked like she probably knew more of magic than Devona did. Devona then started to wonder if she was being racist somehow by assuming that.
She laughed nervously. "I don't really know anything about this place..." |
Gwen smiled at Devona. "I think orientation is tomorrow morning before first class." she tries to remember what Ms. Dew told her. "Thats what Ms. Dew said." she says looking back at Devona and helps her pull her bags off the cart. "We just have to show up with our school things because our first class of the day is right after orientation is over. We dont have to do anything special. She said pulling another bag off the cart.
"I dont really know that much about this place either. Gwens happy expression turns sad. "A couple of months ago I was living in Brazil with the tribe that adopted me." She sniffled a little getting upset as she thought about it and suddenly wished she were home right now. She wondered if she was missed or if they were looking for her. |
"Oh, I'm sorry." Devona realized how lucky she was, she was only staying away from for a while, and still in the same country.
"I, um... Is your tribe like you?" Devona asked shyly. "Oh, I mean, it's just that, I've never known anyone else who can do magic..." She trailed off, suddenly realizing that she could have been offensive. "Y-you don't have to answer if you don't want to..." She looked at her toes and spread out her hands on her legs. |
Gwen took a breath and tried to look at the bright side of things. "No not all of them only those chosen to protect the tribe. The jewels we wear change us forever." She says looking down at the jewel thats embedded its self in the back of her hand. "The jewels let us do magic." she says looking back at Devona.
OOC: Im so sorry it took me so long to reply. I just started a new job on monday and things have been super busy but I think things are starting to calm down so hopefully this wont happen again, I hope... |
((Ah, it's fine! I understand completely. xD I just wish I had a job.))
Devona looked at Gwen's hand. She wasn't sure what kind of jewel that was, but it looked very special and she found herself unsurprised that it was magic. "Wow. That sounds really nice... Everyone belonging like that." Devona frowned a bit, thinking of how out of place she felt in her own family, let alone her town. Thinking of home, then, she started to feel like crying. She couldn't help it, the tears just started trying to come out as the realization that she wouldn't see her friends, family, or home for nine months hit her. Her family didn't have enough money to take her back home for Thanksgiving, Christmas, her birthday, or Easter and would send her gifts to the school by mail, if it was something she could keep at school. Devona wanted to apologize to Gwen, but she couldn't for fear that her tears would suddenly come out from her eyes. She had to be strong. |
Gwen smiled kindly at Devona noticing how sad she seemed. "We will be sharing a room together, at least until the end of the school year. Thats what Ms Dew told me. I....I dont have any friends here." she felt uncomfortable saying that, back home she had made friends with everyone or at least the other protectors that were her age or close to it. "Can we be friends?"
OOC: lol if I can find one after 10 months of looking Im sure you can find one to |
Devona was caught off guard, and some tears streamed down her face. She smiled happily, and nodded her head. "Yes," She said, and held out her hand to shake. "I think I'd like that."
((You think so? Well, glad you got a job yourself, especially if it took that long. Do you want to skip to the next morning, and avoid describing packing our crap? xD)) |
OOC: lol yea I can do that
IC: Gwen groaned at the bright sun coming in from the window and rolled over to go back to sleep. Even with living with Ms Dew for the short time that she did Gwen hadnt gotten the hang of waking up in the morning. Back home she had been trained to sleep during the day and be up during the night, it was the preferred life style of a protector. |
Devona stared at the ceiling, trying to convince herself to get up as her roommate moaned in her bed. There was a sharp knock on the door, and Devona tried to get up to greet their guest without disturbing Gwen but fell off the bed with a loud thump in a tangle of covers. Tearing from the blankets and tossing them aside, she opened the door just in time to see a girl a few years older than she waiting impatiently.
"Breakfast's almost ready, and orientation will right after. In the main hall." She said curtly before she went to the next room. |
Gwen groaned again and peeked over at Devona when she heard something fall and then quickly flopped her face back into her pillow when she saw everything was ok. "To tired... Come back later!" she mumbled at the girl at the door and pulled the sheets over her head.
|
Devona closed the door, her face red. She'd fallen like that and answered the door in her PJs! She would never even exit her room in pajamas back home, let alone open the front door. Which is basically what she'd just done. "I don't think that breakfast or orientation work that way. If we wanna eat we should go now..."
She turned away from Gwen and started getting out her clothes, when she realized she didn't know what to do about changing. Should she just suck it up and change here or go to the bathroom to change? After all, Gwen was a girl too, even if she was probably from another species. But she didn't want to go out to the bathroom in her pajamas holding her clean clothes, even if everyone else was a girl in their hall... Devona stared at her clothes and arranged them into a neat bundle, with her underwear in the middle hidden from view. |
