"Yup. Most of the time." Kris grinned. "Sometimes you do things that I just have to go "oh look at the cute little kiddy"." She was grinning too, clearly knowing exactly what she was doing.
Aura rolled her eyes.
"Oh shut up," she replied, grinning a bit. "You do things like that too sometimes." |
Kris puffed up in mock indignation. "I have never done anything like that," she declared, managing to look down at Aura. "Not once."
Aura snorted.
"I've seen you sleeping on the couch and clinging to a pillow like it's a snuggly teddy bear," she replied, grinning a bit. "I've seen it with my own eyes." |
"You've seen no such thing. It was a figment of your imagination."
Kris couldn't entirely hide her grin, though. |
Aura just grinned and reached out to rub one of Kris's ears.
"Whatever you say," she said. |
Kris rolled her eyes but relaxed some, letting Aura do what she wanted.
Aura just made sure Kris relaxed before gradually stopping. Then she settled in to watch the training for the day.
Kris settled down next to her. The men seemed to be handling it well enough anyway, she figured they didn't need help.
Indeed, the men seemed to be handling everything just fine until snacktime rolled around. Then the children ended up running for the house, each wanting to be the first to get a snack.
Kris snorted and let them run each other over, having already set snacks out on the table. The kids could serve themselves, and she wasn't going to get between the kids and their snacks.
Aura watched as well, resisting the urge to coddle any child who ended up getting pushed out of the way by the others. Because she did still want to coddle them; she had a tendency to spoil the children rotten.
Kris noticed the look and snorted. "They're all getting food," she said. "See? It's just the initial chaos, then they all calm down. No need to worry about them."
"Can't help it," Aura replied as she stayed out of the way. "You know me by now."
"Yes, I know you, which is exactly why I'm reminding you." Kris shook her head, watching the kids. "We can't coddle them forever."
"I can try," Aura replied. "I'll always have hugs and cuddles for my little one."
Kris shrugged but didn't say anything else, just watching them with her arms crossed over her chest. She knew all too well what would happen if she coddled her kids too much, but that didn't mean she loved them any less.
Aura sighed slightly and went to find herself somewhere to sit down. She knew this was a topic she and Kris disagreed slightly on, and likely wouldn't agree.
Kris let her go, keeping track of all the kids and cleaning up after they were done eating and went to go back to running around. Sesshomaru gave them some time off, so a few of them ran over to go cuddle with Aura, and Kris twitched just slightly at that.
Aura smiled a bit and let the kids cuddle for a little while. She did make sure to herd them outside again after the cuddle-break was over, though.
Kris kept track of the kids for the rest of the day, watching them race each other and try to outdo each other. Sesshomaru had appointed Aura to be the score keeper, so Kris was able to just watch.
Aura didn't mind keeping score, and she grinned a bit when a couple of the kids went over to Kris for hugs and cuddles after a while.
Kris wasn't quite as cuddly as Aura, but she did let Aiko sit on her lap for a while, Shippou nestled into her side.
Pretty soon Katsuro and Inuyasha came over to Aura for cuddles, as well, so she figured it was time to call an end to the game for the day.
Kris set her two off to the side so she could go finish up dinner, knowing they'd all be hungry soon. And they hadn't completely worn themselves out today either, which was good.
