Aura smiled a little.
"Alright," she said. "Lead the way, then." |
Sesshomaru continued on, walking up a little hill to the top. There was a perfect spot to watch the festival from there, and clearly it had been used before; the top of the hill was leveled off and comfortable.
"Wow," Aura murmured as they got to the top of the hill. "The view is amazing." When she spotted what looked like a makeshift bench, she went and sat down with a soft sigh, glad to be off her feet.
"You are comfortable enough?" Sesshomaru asked, trying not to fuss really. Only a little fussing.
"There's only so comfortable I can get right now," Aura pointed out. She waved a hand a bit. "I'm fine. Go on and take the boys down, I'll be alright here. You know I'll call for you if I need anything."
"Good." Sesshomaru gave her a quick kiss before he gathered up the two boys, walking down to join the festival proper.
Aura settled there comfortably, just enjoying the quiet before the main part of the festival. The pup shifted a bit, and she rubbed her belly gently. She winced when she felt a bit of a cramp, but it faded quickly enough that she didn't think anything of it.
By the end of the night, both boys were asleep, and Sesshomaru was well pleased with how things had gone. Carrying both of the boys, he headed up to where he'd left Aura, already wondering if he could get away with carrying her too.
Aura smiled when she saw her mate and the boys. Her one of her hands grasped at her clothes when another cramp came and went, but she didn't notice.
"I take it they had fun?" she asked softly. |
"Perhaps too much. They will certainly sleep through the night." Sesshomaru looked her over with a little frown. She looked uncomfortable. "Ready to go back for the night?"
Aura nodded, standing up carefully. She winced a bit at the ache it caused.
"Yeah, settling in sounds good," she said. |
"Are you alright?" Sesshomaru frowned again at the wince. That was not normal. Quickly, he shifted the boys so he could carry her easily as well.
"Cramping, on and off," Aura admitted as she let him pick her up. She didn't even pretend to object to it. "For a few hours, now."
"You could have called me," Sesshomaru said, heading back to the manor. "I would have come."
"It wasn't all that bad," Aura protested. "It's only really getting uncomfortable just now." And that worried her. The cramps had been getting worse, and it wasn't time for the pup to be born, yet. She still had eight more weeks, easily, before the pup was supposed to come.
Sesshomaru frowned and hurried back to the house, setting her down with the other two pups before he went to go fetch someone to take a look at her.
Aura settled down with a soft, pained sound. She stayed as still as she could, hoping not to aggravate anything, though she tensed at another pain.
It was only a minute before Sesshomaru came back with a healer, tense and nervous as he looked at Aura. Fortunately, the female was well practiced, and wasted no time starting to examine Aura.
Aura let the healer examine her without protest. The silence in the room was tense, and she hoped nothing was wrong with the pup.
The healer tutted. "You must rest," she told Aura. "Your body is thinking it is time for the pup to be born. You must rest and relax to stall that."
"I've been trying to," Aura said, pressing her hands to her belly to try to stave off another sharp pain. "I don't know what else I can be doing, short of flat out bed rest."
"That's what you're doing now," the healer informed her. "Bed rest. No strain, no stress. Tell everyone to go away if you think it would help."
Aura internally chafed at the order, but nodded a bit.
"Alright," she said. "We'll have to figure something out, we were only supposed to be here another few days." She tensed a bit as she felt another pain about to start. "And these contractions have to be stopped before they get worse." |
The healer gave her a bit of a Look, because she did know her job. "I'm just waiting on the proper materials."
As if on cue, her assistant came in with what she needed, and the healer nodded and got back to work. |
Aura nodded and let the healer do her job. She stayed still, doing her best not to get in the way or interfere.
