Renee smiled as she maneuvered the plane closer. She engaged the camouflage and started to activate shields but stopped. It could give them away if there was an enemy here. On a hunch, she reached out with her powers like Tabitha had done. She was right, there was a numbness here - no energy. Just before they were about to fly into the dark clouds, she turned to Tabitha. "Do you see anything?"

Tabitha cringed... her water droplets were sending her some rather terrifying information. Yeah, pull up and go over. I think another idiot tried to turn himself into a super powerful person. That fog or clouds isn't what it looks like." She was worried. If it was a bad person, then they should do something to stop him. But who were they to judge if he was bad or not. Right now he was just floating there....

Renee did as told, moving them away from the disturbance. "What do you think he's doing? Can you tell what the clouds are?" She activated the sensors, hoping they would tell them something. At the same time, she activated the shields. Better safe than sorry....

I honestly don't know, she said while looking down below at the group. "I think the clouds are him." That meant he would be really hard for the police to arrest or paramedics to help. "But we have no proof that he is a bad guy like the others we have encountered this week."

Renee thought about that. There was nothing to show this guy was doing anything wrong. He could just be resting for all we know, she thought as she checked the sensor readings. "Hey, look at this." Renee enhanced the image on the small screen. There was some wreckage floating in the ocean below the clouds. There were no reefs or rocks in the area for it to have rammed. "Do you think that's his ship? There's no reef or rocks. I looks as if it just exploded..."

She nodded as she looked at it. "It might have been. Poor fellow, he might be disoriented if he was human just hours or minutes ago on that."

Suddenly static filled the cabin. Renee put her hands to her ears and tried to figure out where that was coming from. Her powers were in check so it wasn't her. As she pushed button after button, the horrific noise continued. Then as quickly as it had started, it stopped. Help me. Renee looked over at Tabitha standing near her. "Did you just hear something?" She wanted to make sure she wasn't going crazy.

Tabitha gasped, oh yeah, she had heard it. "Can you hear us? We hear you!" She looked back at Renee, her face white. How were they supposed to help him?

Help me. It just kept repeating in her mind. How do I help you? she thought. He wasn't made of water so Tabitha couldn't do anything, and shocking him would probably not do him any good.... Suddenly the plea stopped. Please. Please. Renee frowned. Surely he didnt' want her to zap him!

Tabitha asked Renee, "Any ideas? He is a cloud of small molecules that resemble water but that I can't control. How do you put that back into a human?" She wondered is she should attempt to just freeze him and transport him to a teen titan location.

Please. Please. Renee looked back at Tabitha. "The message changed when I thought about zapping him. If he does resemble water, running an electrical current through him could result in heat. But if I'm wrong, it will do nothing, cause him to fall apart completely, or fry him." She froze. "Wait a minute..." What if I just charged the surrounding air? Her fingers flew over the sensor panel. "If he just needs a little 'heat' to help him form himself back into human form, all I would need to do is charge the surrounding air. It seems as if the particles in the cloud are negative so if the air became more negatively charged, it should give him more juice to form.....theoretically. I would also need to reconfigure the shields since they are positively charged so they don't attract him to the plane." She paused for a breath, waiting to see what Tabitha thought.

Tabitha nodded, they had to do something and that was the best idea so far. "Go for it. I'll take over the plane's controls for you." She quickly switched power to her station and took over flying. Setting up a circling pattern, she said, "Okay, when your ready."

Finishing her reconfiguration of the shields, Renee sighed. She usually couldn’t control her powers but there had been one time when she could. Sitting back in her seat and closing her eyes, she started to breathe in and out. It was a meditation technique a sensei had taught her years before. As she calmed her mind, her powers bent to her will. Her mind traveled out of the cockpit, connecting with the energy outside the plane. She sought out the electrons and manipulated them to move faster, giving them more energy, creating heat. As she did, she created new negative energy and increasing the negative pull. To someone watching Renee, they would see her eyes and raised right hand glow a whitish purple, but she was oblivious to all that was around her. As she worked, her breath got short and strained, and a sweat broke out. Slowly, she could sense a form coming from the cloud but in order to keep up the heat, she couldn’t concentrate on that. In the back of her mind, she hoped Tabitha was keeping a close eye and could tell Renee to stop when the cloud was a being…

Tabitha watched in fascination as the cloud began to shape itself. Slowly contracting on itself, the blob began to take on the shape of a man. Slowly, surely, it was starting to turn into something more recognizable. Then suddenly there was a man, albeit naked, floating in the air looking strained and worn out. "Renee! You did it!" She dove the plane down and closer now that the "cloud" was gone.

Hearing her friend, Renee let go of the electrons and started to power down when she felt him start to fall. Worried he couldn't stop his descent, she took hold of him and eased him down onto a raft. When he was safely set down, she powered down and slumped in her seat, breathing hard. "We should.....go pick him up....." she gasped as she leaned back and closed her eyes. She heard Tabitha's faint answer as if through a tunnel as Renee drifted off into exaustion...

"Renee? Renne!" Tabitha looked over her shoulder anxiously at the slumped form of her friend. Damn! This was supposed to be a joy ride. Feeling a bit helpless and more than a little worried, she quickly circled down and landed the craft into the water. Looking at the now unconscious man laying on the raft, she tried to think quickly. Life had never been normal anyways. Manipulating the water, she had him drifted and lifted into the plane. Laying him in the back where there was room for a little cargo, she moved all water out that had assisted her in the transfer.
Revving up the plane, she sped up and got into the sky. Using the jets, she bolted forward back towards home. Looks like she needed to hire a scientist to help take care of them. Landing, she got an automated machine to come assist her with carrying the stranger to the medical bay. Setting him up on a bio mat, she left the machine to care for him. She had designed the assistant after the ones on Star Wars. Basic medical functions allowed it to service the medical bay. That way people such as herself who lacked the needed care providing services of a doctor could still help those who came here.
Getting back to the plane at a dead run, she picked up her friend and carried her to the only room she thought might help her. It was a meditation room. The design had been stolen from a star wars game know as Knights of the Old Republic. Smooth and circular in design. The center was dipped down in the shape of a large bowl with a flat platform slightly raised in the middle. Towers curved up on the outside of the circle bending slightly to tower over the the outer edges of the bowl-shaped circle. There was a walkway around the outside of that perimeter. She took Renee to the middle and set her down. The room was basically a safe place for her to use, loose control, or learn more about her powers. Moving outside the circle, she took a deep breathe and charged the room. The extra electricity bounced from pylon to pylon and bits of it broke off to caress and dance over Renee's limp form. As large as the room was, it seemed small with the large electric lights casting shadows that danced around as they played.

Darkness, loneliness, sadness….They surrounded Renee as she floated through a void. With a flash, she is back in the world. She stands in a hallway outside a room, a room that is vaguely familiar but she can’t place it. There are flashes and alarms blaring, people shouting. As if drawn she creeps up to the door. “We can’t contain it!” “We must evacuate!” “It’s too late! Just…..” Another flash, she is in her room at home, nurses surrounding her. Their words are incomprehensible. The door opens and her parents stand in the entry, say something, and turn to leave. “Wait!” she cries and sprints off the bed. She throwing the door open and running through it, she is back in the void. But it’s different this time. There is peace, power, and clarity. She seems to float as if in a river of energy. The energy grows but it is in her control. Here she is not threatened, has no need to please anyone. She can be herself. She never wants to leave. As she sighs in contentment, she hears a familiar voice of a woman echoing off the nonexistent walls. Her words are hushed, not understandable, as if a whisper. As the voice fades away, another flash and Renee awoke in a huge bowl.
Falling to the floor with a thud, she groaned. This bed is as hard as the floor, she thought groggily. Realizing she wasn’t in a bed but in strange room, she bolted up with one jump and took a defensive stance. What is this place?!

Tabitha's heart leaped with joy when Renee leaped up. She wanted to call out to her, but figured she couldn't be hearing over the crackling lightening. She stayed pressed up against the wall, waiting. Renee could experiment in here and figure out that this place would obey her. Just as long as she didn't decide to kill her, then Renee could do as she pleased. Pity there wasn't a safe observation room or something.

Renee felt exhilarated with all the energy around her. It took her a minute but she finally remembered what had happened. I wonder if this is the room Tabitha had talked about, she thought as she relaxed. But where was Tabitha? She looked around and saw her against the wall. The sparks weren't far away from her! She tried to yell but even she couldn't hear over the electricity. Renee started to absorb the energy around her but it became obvious that it was too much. Falling to one knee, she paused to think. Suddenly an idea came to mind. She closed her eyes and searched for a computer system. Finding it, she melded with it, looking for the cut-off switch. After another minute, she found it and shut off the electrical flow, making the air still around her. She opened her eyes wide in astonishment. I didn't know I could do that! She looked over at Tabitha and ran over to her. "Are you ok??"

Tabitha shakily leaned away from the wall and grinned. "Of course. This room is yours to control. As you get stronger, you will find some surprises here that are for you to play with. The question is you... are you okay?" She looked over Renee with concern. The girl has collapsed, so of course she was worried about her.

Renee blinked. Why is she asking if I'm ok? Oh, yeah.... "No, I'm fine, it just wore me out. I'm not used to using my powers like that. The most I've ever done on purpose was fueling my bike," she laughed nervously. "How's our mystery guest?" she asked as she rolled her shoulders to loosen the muscles.

Remembering the man that they had compressed back into human form, she grimaced, "I honestly am unsure. I got him to the medical bay with a medical droid to help him, then spent my time with you. I think my priorities placed you higher." She winked at her and took her arm, "come, let's go check on him." She led Renee out into the corridor. This underground facility was separate from the house above. It could be completely locked up from outside influence if need be.

Following Tabitha out of the strange room, Renee sighed with relief. She didn't like that room and would be very happy never to enter it again. As they walked down the corrider, she looked into some of the different rooms. A training room similar to a gym caught her attention but she just kept walking. Tabitha didn't know her full ablilities and Renee wanted to keep it that way for now. As they entered the medical bay, she let out a low whistle. "This is impressive Tabitha! Did you design this place all by yourself?" she asked as she examined some of the equipment. Seeing the droid attending to their guest, she walked around it looking it up and down. "How much can this droid do? Does it have a vast medical knowledge or is it only able to tend to the basics? Could it do surgery?" She stopped to take a breath. This place is amazing! Tabitha must be a genius!

She grinned at the question. "The purpose of the medical bay droids is to handle medical emergencies that we cannot handle. I don't have a doctor's degree." Tabitha walked over and looked over the man. He seemed to be in stable condition. The droid seemed to have taken on it's role well. She sighed, "Sorry, when I said taking the jet out for a spin, I didn't mean for this crazy stuff."

"It's ok," she replied smiling. "I have a feeling we're never going a normal day." She looked at the readout of their guest's vitals. "Hey look at this. His temperature reads 72.3 degrees, yet all other functions are normal." She walked over to feel his skin. It was cold but not with Rigor Mortis. That's it! "Let's get some warm blankets or something to warm him up a little. I think he needs heat to regain consciousness."
