Tamaki grinned. "Have you come to me to ask me how to show your lovely princess your undying love?" He chimed cheerfully when Kyoya asked for a favor. Thankfully, people had grown used to ignoring Tamaki's outbursts, so none of the hosts thought much more of the blonde's exclamation.
Honey went on eating his cake and talking with Mori, whilst Haruhi cleaned up and prepared coffee, with the twins in tow. It was a standard day in the life of the hosts, like it used to be before Teagan had come along. |
Normally, Kyoya would ignore Tamaki when he replied to his questions like this, or act as if he had not reacted in asuch a manner. Today, however, he would grin in response. "Ah, yes, I have a few questions...." While Kyoya was a host, he did not have any guests, and hadn't even attempted to gather any. Thus, while he had some manners and enough people skills to get him through a successful business day, he wasn't as much of a ladies' man as his best friend.
As Kyoya went on with a few questions, the twins watched from afar, one shaking their head at the sight and the other snickering. The day Kyoya asked advice from Tamaki was a dark day indeed. ( I'm going to skip the questions, want to keep it a surprise for now! ^^ ) |
Poor Haruhi. Seeing Kyoya asking Tamaki's advice had convinced her that the end of the world was drawing near. It was an odd thing to be sure. She just hoped Tamaki didn't give any advice too outlandish. But knowing Tamaki, he probably would.
Regardless, soon came the lunch rush. And the girls actually noticed the difference in the quality of the sweets and baked goods offered today. There were whispers that maybe the girl who baked them had been whisked away with that handsome french man. Of course, in the eyes of the girls, Teagan had all the luck, being suited by such a handsome guy as Demitri. "I heard she's going to marry him" one girl said. "But isn't she already involved with Ootori-san?" "Ooooh, maybe she's two timing them both!" Then the girls bursted out in giggles. |
For Kyoya, the eyes and ears of the club, the hosting day was long and exhausting, regardless of his lack of actual guests. Working tired him out anyways, but the tireless gossip floating about the room wore on his patience as well as his already growing sense of worry he knew Teagan had nothing in the way of Demitri as many seemed to suspect. The fact still remained that there were some outlandish things said about both he and Teagan, and whereupon normal circumstances he would've been able to ignore them, he couldn't help but take some into account. What if Teagan did not return? What of she were made to marry him? Kyoya knew that he might not even be made aware if such circumstances unfolded.
Tamaki's advice turned out more practical than Kyoya had imagined, yet he moreso wished for influence than direct actions to mimick. He simply wasn't Tamaki, and he already knew that he would never quite act as he did. Seem part of him wished to collect more information from other hosts about what they would do in his situation, simply to have the influence of seasoned men who speak with women daily under his wing, but he withheld form asking anyone but Tamaki. In his eyes, asking others would be even more degrading. As the day wore on, he heard a particular young women speaking about Demitri as if he were a god. How women seemed to love that man so much,-- it began to disgust him. according to the young lady, he was handsome, talented, eloquent in his speech, and careful with his words. He could part the seas with a wave of his hand so to speak, and was apparently nothing short of perfect in the opinions of many of the ladies. Inwardly, something stabbed Kyoya in the gut, but he moved on seemingly unaffected. |
About an hour before the end of the business day, Kyoya's phone would ring. It was Teagan, calling to check in. Seems she had a layover. She sounded pretty jetlagged. "Hey there... How are things going for you and the others?" She asked, eager to talk to someone she actually knew.
(Sorry it's short.) |
Kyoya would pause in his little routine around the room when his phone went off, and it seemed that many turned their heads to look at him when it did. Nevertheless, he withdrew it from his pocket casually, glancing at its screen before making his way to the back of the room, where it was less crowded. Then he would answer, noting how tired she sounded, "Hello, good to hear from you. Everything is going well, it's a normal business day over here... How were your flights? You sounds exhausted."
|
She laughed. "Jetlag. Huge levels of jet lag. But I should be back home by about 9 pm your time." She said with a nod. "And then I have a meet at five am the next day." Seems like there wouldn't be much in the way of sleep tonight. "I'm in Zurich right now. Want a souvenir?" She asked, sounding thrilled to be talking to him.
|
He would smile and nod in understanding, glancing out at the hosts and their customers once before catching the eyes of the twins accidentally. The two smirked knowingly at him, but Kyoya turned his back to them to resume their phone conversation. "Ah, that's understandable. Sorry, that must be a terrible series of flights," he commented sympathetically. Then chuckling softly at her offer he would grin as he replied, "That's alright, but thank you. I'll get my souvenir when you return." his words were somewhat playful, meant sweetly, in his thoughts thinking he'd much rather prefer a kiss from her than anything she could bring him back. "Sounds like you have a long night ahead of you, are--" his phone was snatched by one of the twins as they crept up behind him.
"Teagan-san! How've you been? Kyoya's been a complete drone today," one enthusiastically exclaimed, earning a soft huff of a sigh from Kyoya, who then just shook his head. |
Teagan blinked as the phone was picked snagged by one of the twins. "Ah... Hello, Hikaru... Or Kaoru... Which one are you?" She asked. "Uhm, I'm alright. Jetlagged a bit but still breathing." She laughed a bit when he said that Kyoya had been out of it that day. "He's just got a lot on his mind. Cut him some slack. He works very hard for all of us!" She said, happily. "Just... Make sure he doesn't get too lost in his work. See if you can't get him to have some fun this week?" She asked. "I don't want him to spend all of his time worrying. It's not good for him." She added.
|
The twin holding the phone smiled smugly as Kyoya stood there oddly, a curious eyebrow raised in his direction. "Kaoru, and yes I'll be sure to tell him Demitri stopped by," he replied in a purposefully teasing manner, evoking a slight cringe from Kyoya, but the dark-haired man didn't yet lose his grin. These were the Hitachiins twins, if they weren't playing with someone, then what else would they do with their spare time? He knew Kaoru was lying.
Then after a pause and a slight snicker, Kaoru would pass the phone off to Hikaru, who then replied in a more casual fashion as Kyoya regarded his twin blankly. "Yeah, we'll take good care of him. Might drag him around the expo a bit tomorrow and loosen him--" With a swiftness neither twin had, Kyoya snatched the phone back successfully, "Do tell Demitri I say hello," he spoke in a playful tone to let her know he wasn't all that freaked out, there was still some playfulness left in him. Aside from that, it would also say that he knew Demitri hadn't come by. Or at least he didn't suspect so. Grinning at the complaints the twins let out, he would then go on to say, "We miss you here, the customers have even noticed the significant change in the sweets." |
Teagan blinked as Kyoya took the phone back, then laughed wearily. "Either the twins are psychic, and seeing something I'm not, or I'm tired enough that I missed the presence of the one man on Earth I'd truly like to maim." She joked. "I miss you all too. And I miss baking. The backed goods they sell in airports are ridiculously inedible." There was then a pause at the end of the line. "Oh, you've got to be kidding..." She said, now sounding a bit frustrated. Something she'd noticed had clearly displeased her.
|
Kyoya laugh softly, a sound that made the twins look at him oddly before shrugging to each other and moving on with more pressing matters, their group of customers. As the group of girls they brought in swooned over their acting, Kyoya would resume, "Neither, I'd hope, unless he somehow knows you left." Her next reply, however, arose a bit of suspicion in him. After a moment's hesitation, he asked curiously, "Teagan, what's wrong?"
|
"My flight just got cancelled." She muttered. "Looks like I'm stuck here for the night." She said with a sigh. The weather had gone bad. "That would be my luck. Remind me to murder Demitri if I ever have to see him again..." She muttered. "It's his fault I'm in this mess."
|
Kyoya would sigh softly, then rubbing the back of his head with one of his hands, ruffling his hair in the process. "Sorry, if I could change the weather I would," he frowned slightly, not liking the idea of her staying overnight in a country alone. He shifted where he stood, but tried to keep a clear head, reminding himself that she could take care of herself. "That makes the two of us. Im afraid I'll have to take up a suspension if I see him around the club again," he spoke in a somewhat playful tone, though he was serious. Would he actually kill him? Though Kyoya would openly admit the thought of severely injuring him sounded very appealing. "Do you know where you can stay?" he asked, now wondering if she could make living arrangements quickly enough for the night.
|
"I'll probably just crash here in the airport." She said. "It's not that the weather is bad here... It's the weather where I'm supposed to be going." She said, rubbing the back of her head. "I'll just stay here and hope another flight comes up." She was not much for planning. "Apparently it's been snowing and storming all day there in France, and so they don't think it will clear up before it comes time to land."
|
Kyoya inwardly cringed as she mentioned just staying the night at the airport. There had been many times where he had slept in public places simply because he had been woken up too early by his friends and was simply not going to deal with not getting more sleep. While he was aware this was most definitely not the case with her, it reminded him of those times still where he had woken disoriented and sometimes lost. "Alright, well, make sure to grab a good chair to curl up in before they're all gone," he spoke somewhat lightly still, though he wasn't all that thrilled about the news either. More delays made her life harder, and prolonged her trip, with his luck. "Hopefully the weather is fairer tomorrow. Will you be able to swap your ticket for a flight sometime in the morning or how long will the delay have to be?" he asked curiously, hoping for her sake that it would be a morning flight out. Airports were just a hassle, and it was a time in his mind that he wished he was there to help.
|
"Hopefully tomorrow morning." She said between two yawns. "I would much rather be there with you. Airports are noisy." She added as she settled into a chair and made herself comfortable. "I could think of a million things I'd rather be doing that sitting here in an airport in Zurich." She added. "Kyoya? Ya know, sometime we should go to Disney World." She was starting to make less and less sense, and become more and more random. She was really worn out, it seemed. "I saw a guy on the first flight wearing Mickey Ears. I think he was American."
|
Kyoya would nod, though he was vaguely aware that she couldn't see him at the moment. Still, he could pretend that she was here with him at the sound of her voice. Her yawning made it evident to him that she was tired, so he didn't plan on keeping her on the phone much longer, however much he would like to. "If much rather you be here as well," he replied with a grin, leaning his back up against the wall behind him as he spoke to her. Her suggestion made him chuckle, making it obvious that her sleepiness was affecting her further than just causing her to yawn. "Perhaps we will sometime after you return... I should let you catch up on sleep, Teagan, you seem exhausted. I miss you and please be careful." he spoke sincerely, urging her to go to sleep on a subtle way so she didn't become more tired than she already was.
|
She did as he suggested. "Alright... I'll go too sleep. I'll call you when I make it to France." She said softly as she made herself comfortable in an airport seat. These were not ideal conditions. She made sure to keep any valuables she had hidden well so that no one had the idea that she was an easy target. She also had a small can of pepperspray on her just incase. "Kyoya, take care... I miss you." She said with a smile she knew he couldn't see. "Have a good night."
|
He would smile to himself a bit, nodding slightly though he knew she wasn't there to see that reaction. "Okay, please do. Have a good flight," he replied in a manner meant to be positive. The thought of her sleeping unattended in an airport bothered him some, but as he had slept in public quite a few times, no thanks to the other hosts, he wasn't going to be one to complain. She could take care of herself-- for now, he and to convince himself of that. Hearing that she missed him nudged his emotions if only a bit. It would be noticeable in his warmer tone, "I miss you too, Teagan. Be careful, and I wish you the best of luck." Then sighing softly to himself, his smile would fade into a grin as he said his goodbye as well. "Good night. Sleep well."
|
And so, she ended up going to sleep. The next morning they had her on a new flight, and she was on her way. Once she finally got home, she made sure to tell him so in a text before her father picked up. Today was a day for rest and sleep. In a bed. Because the week that would follow would be a rough one indeed. She really wondered how things were going with the hosts, because she missed being there so much. France just wasn't as exciting as it used to be for her.
|
Whispering, questioning glances, unusual babying from his fellow hosts-- the rest of Kyoya's day and the beginning of the next were rather the same. He found himself growing tired quickly, and easily fell asleep at an early time that night. The next morning he went to school with the same casual indifference as per usual, though Teagan tugged at his thoughts from time to time. Between all of the scandalous things he heard about himself, Teagan, and Demitri, as well as the smothering he received from his friends, he found little respite at school. For this reason, he was more than happy to see Teagan's text. He replied by telling her he was glad she landed safely and that he hoped she would have a good time.
As he slipped his phone away, he would look up to see the set of double doors to the club open. "Kyoya-kun!" a female student practically ran in and up to him, and after a moment he was able to recognize her as the daughter of a hospital branch his father's company worked closely with. "Kyoya-kun, I've been looking for you for days! I started on Monday and haven't seen you yet... Is this where you spend all of your time?" Annoyingly enough, before he could answer, she went on. "Anyways, I've heard all about this club of yours already! I wantrequire duel an appointment with you this afternoon." Kyoya stared on at the female oddly, as if suddenly feeling more weight upon his shoulders, before a grin appeared upon his face, he was a host, and wished desperately to inherit his father's business, so how could he turn the young lady's request down? Thus began his nightmare. |
Haruhi watched as the new girl came in requesting Kyoya. Interesting. That rarely every happened. They always asked for the twins or Tamaki, or Mori, or Honey, or even her, but in all the time she'd been with the club she'd never seen Kyoya take a customer. And it perturbed her a little that the girl seemed so fond of Kyoya. But she knew Kyoya wouldn't just dump Teagan as soon as Teagan was back in France, so she didn't give it much thought.
In France, Teagan had began a rest period. She wanted to talk to Kyoya, but she knew he was probably busy so she didn't want to disturb him right now. |
While Kyoya had some idea of how to keep well-mannered conversation, he didn't have the same touch of skill that the others did. He had his lack of customers to attribute to this, but he mused that part of this was also his lack of interest in entertaining others, particularly women. It was only lately he took interest to a girl at all, Teagan, and the one he was speaking with was most definitely not like her. In fact, thinking of Teagan in comparison to her, he found that he would far prefer to be talking with Teagan. Of course, there was no surprise there. Bits of the appointment contained awkward, quiet moments where he hadn't a clue as to what exactly he should say. He didn't know how to act, nor why this girl had dared to request him as a host. Why would she?
Much to Kyoya's dismay, however, after their appointment ended she requested him again for the next day. That, and some of his fellow hosts practically flocked to him with questions. He answered them casually, telling them how the appointment went, that it didn't particularly bother him, yet he found it rather boring and if she were not a part of a family that had ties to his he would have opted out of it, for it was a waste of time. As he stood to move to do his work, Hikaru stood in his way. Teasingly, he asked, "How would Teagan like this? Sneaking around with other-" Kyoya interrupted him mildly, a harsh look on his face as he scolded the other boy, "This changes nothing between Teagan and I. My feelings for her remain the same, and you shouldn't be surprise to find that I hold no interest in Miss Suzaki." |
