Tony shifted uncomfortably, only faintly hearing what Monte was saying. It took him a few moments though before the words actually got through and he sat up suddenly, glancing at his clock. How did he manage to sleep so long? Did he sleep through his alarm. Tony looked and groaned, realizing that he had forgot to set it the night before. He jumped out of bed, getting dressed quickly, not wanting Gibbs so see him like this. "Are you ready to go?"
Monte nodded. "Yes, I'm ready." There was a knock at the door and Monte immediatly opened it, not even looking to see who was there. It was Abby. "I thought Gibbs was coming to get me?" He said, confused. "He got a bit busy so I came to pick you up." She came in and looked at Tony. "Be glad it wasn't Gibbs who came. He'd kill you for letting the Monte answer the door like that." She looked down at the red head now, grinning. "You look amazing." She commented, looking down at Monte's gothic outfit. "I could just eat you up." She grabbed one of his cheeks and he blushed, slightly humiliated. "Um..Abby..? Could you please let go of my face?" He asked and she giggled. "Sorry Monte dear." She handed him a lace umbrella much like her own and then sqealed in delight. "You're going to be my doll for one whole night!" Monte looked at Tony, his expression pained, saying 'help me Tony...save ne from the insane chick' All that was written in his expression without him even having to say anything. Abby dragged him out the door and to her car.
Once Abby got Monte in her house, she started doing dark makeup on his face and dressed him all in lace and frills. He was kind of annoyed, but he didn't argue. She sat him in a coffin that was set up in her living room. She made him lay down and close his eyes. The dark makeup made him look dead enough, but she had put baby powder on his face to make it more effective. She took pictures and txt one to Tony. -What do you think? Cute no?- The txt read and she smiled, trying so hard to get Tony to find Mobte attractive. She already knew the red headed man liked Tony, and she wanted to get them together. She thought they'd make a cute couple. She wasn't sure Tony would be so into Monte laying in a coffin though and she regretted sending the txt. After all, Tony had almost seen Monte die just yesterday from a self inflicted wound. She should've thought before doing this. |
Tony went to answer the door, frowning when Monte opened it instead. Was the kid trying to get himself killed. Who knew who was on the other side of the door. He was lucky it was just Abby and he crossed his arms. "I didn't let him do anything. He decided that he wanted to answer the door." He said, defending himself. He watched, mildly amused by Abby's attitude towards Monte, and he knew he wasn't going to step in and help him. Tony watched them go before getting a shower. He dressed and headed into work, hoping to get something done today. He frowned when his phone vibrated and he glanced at Abby's message.
-No. Not really- He replied before turning his attention back to his computer. He wasn't a big fan of the whole goth, undead type look. |
Monte wasn't sure how much longer he could stand this. He was in god awful platform heel boots type things and a creepy black lace dress. He had to escape this. Abby seemed to think he was her little voodoo dressup doll or something. He managed to get a moment aline and txted Tony himself.
-Plz help me...she's using me like an undead barbie doll. Can u come get me?- "So, Monte, what do you think of Tony?" Abby asked as she walked back in, another black lace outfit in hand. "Um, Abby...can we just chill as not play dress up anymore? I'm getting a little sleepy." He said, so quiet she hardly heard him. She grinned and grabbed a pair of long pajama pants that were covered in skulls and crossbones, dressing him up once more. "Then it's nappy time for little Monte." She said, kissing his cheek. He frowned and glared at her. "I'll have you know I am NOT a child!" He snapped and she backed up. "Ok, sorry, my mistake..." She said, surprised by his sudden mood swing. "What's wrong Monte?" She asked, pulling the small man to her chest. He really did have the body of a sixteen year old child. "Ugh! Tony hates me! I said I was sorry...and I even tried flirting like a little bimbo slut, but he just...called me a kid.." Monte had to admit he was annoyed by all of this. "Hmm, I don't think Tony likes people like you. You have that classic emo kid look. I think he prefers cute and blonde." She grabbed a box of dye. "Why don't we see what difference hair color makes." She took him and washed his hair, then dyed it a 'sexy girl' shade of blonde. "Tell me if he likes it and I'll make this permanent. It'll last about a week." She also took out all his peircings and removed all makeup, only leaving a bit of mascara. Next was dressing him up in kaki pants and a button up shirt from Hollister. He blinked a few times when he looked into the mirror. "I look like a blonde Justin Bieber." He stated blandly. "Why should I change myself for him?" Abby shrugged. "You're an man Monte, if you want to he noticed you've got to start dressing like one and stop dressing like a high school child." Monte simply sighed. "Fine." Abby then took him back to the car. "Let's go see him and Tim. They'll most likely be working." Once at the office, Abby took him up to see Tim and Tony. "Hey guys. We were playing a game of makeover. What do you think? Is it to much change?" She thought he looked a lot older like this, but she'd be watching Tony to see what he thought. "O, and Tim, it's your shift to take Monte from now until tomorrow morning." She left him and Monte just stood there, feeling awkward. Tim looked him over. He'd never seen Monte, only heard he looked like a child. Tim thought he looked like he might be in his early twenties. "Hi there. I'm Tim. You can sit by my desk in a spare chair if you'd like." Tim offered and Monte nodded. "Thank you." He sat down and put his bags down as well, taking out a book. McGee was surprised it was shakespehere. "Do you like classic literature?" Tim asked and Monte shook his head. "Not really. I have to read this for school. I'd rather not get behind in my senior year." Tim was rather intrigued by this boy, not seeing why Tony disliked him so much. |
Tony was actually managing to get a lot of his paperwork done since they only really had the one case going. He was kind of glad things were going slowly, despite the fact he hated there was a madman out there after Monte. He glanced up when he heard the elevator dinged. He could feel his breath catch in his throat when he caught sight of the blond man with Abby. Tony blinked a few times, more than a little surprised that this man was Monte. He looked grown up. When did that happen? It took him a few minutes before he was able to speak. "Wow... You look good." Tony said, looking over at Monte, distracted completely distracted from his work.
Abby grinned, seeing Tony staring in awe. She slipped the permanent dye into Monte's bag. "He likes that." She whispered softly and sat at Ziva's desk. Tim kept talking to Monte for a good while until Ziva walked in with Gibbs. Gibbs looked at Monte for a second, shaking his head. He'd not expected such a drastic change in such a short time. Ziva looked at Abby who was sitting at her desk. "Um Abby...?" The gothic girl stood up. "Bye bye. I have work to do." She went to her lab. Monte looked at Tim. "So I'm staying with you for the night right?" He asked, trying to confirm the information Abby had given him. "No, you're staying with Dinozzo." He said calmy and Monte frowned. "Don't you think he needs a break?" Gibbs shook his head. "nope."
Tony shook himself out of his daze when the elevator binged and he heard Gibbs and Ziva approaching. He quickly turned his attention back to his desk and the report he was working on. He frowned when he heard he was supposed to still be watching Monte. He hated being on babysitting duty, but he knew better than to argue with the boss. He hoped this whole assignment would be done with sometime soon. He didn't like bailing on his friends for work. "Whatever you say boss." Tony said, keeping his attention on his computer.
Monte groaned and crossed his arms. "Gibbs...don't you think you're being hard on Tony? I mean, he's had to babysit all weekend and.." Gibbs head slapped him, making Monte flinch. "Stop arguing with me." Gibbs growled. Monte had only been trying to help Tony. He didn't think that deserved being hit. Tim blinked, never thinking Gibbs would hit someone who didn't work for NCIS. "Tony, if you need to go out, take Tim. If you want to drink, be sure you keep Monte with you and DON'T drive drunk." Gibbs wanted to be sure if Tony was going to get hammered, Tim drove them home. He knew Tony probably had plans tonight
Tony glanced up from his computer in time to see Gibbs hit Monte. He frowned slightly. That wasn't really necessary. He didn't think Gibbs would have hit someone who doesn't work for him. That was definitely uncalled for. "Don't be hitting him." He said before he could think about what he was saying. And for the going out thing, he wasn't going too. He had a strong policy for himself not to drink on the job and he wasn't going to break that now.
Monte was extremely annoyed now. "How can you go around ruining your employee's weekends like that? You're just rude, and I don't like that at all. You WILL reassign me to another agent or I'll leave protective custody." Monte threatened. Gibbs cocked an euebrow. "Alright, leave, but I won't be responsible for what happens to you when you're all alone without anyone to save you. Your daddy's gone Monte. You're all on your own." He was honestly worried that young man would get killed the second he was out of the NCIS building. The people after him would take advantage of how vunrable he'd be. Monte sighed. "Look, agent Gibbs...thanks for everything you've done for me, but there's no stopping this. There won't be a happy ending like in a Disney movie. I've been here quite long enough. You can't just keep on protecting me forever. One day you'll slip up, make an accident, then I'll be dead. It's better it's over with sooner than later. But like I said, I don't mean to be a brat. I really am thankful." He smiled warmly. "Besides. I think I can die happy now. I've made some cool friends here at NCIS. Tell Abby I said thank you...and Tony...thanks for everything. I know it must have been hard to share your house, your time, your bed....you're a sweet man." He picked up his duffel bags and headed for the elevator. He was done messing up these peoples' time off work. It was time that they got their lives back.
Gibbs was thinking as fast as he could. He couldn't let that man leave. He'd seen him change to much. He was no longer a little boy, he was a young man, and Gibbs wanted to see him grown and mature even more, not walk outside these doors and have his brains blown out. He couldn't assign him to McGee. Tim was to busy working on computer work to catch the killer. Ziva was already at home now, leaving only a few minutes ago. No doubt she was drinking and he didn't think Ziva would be an effective agent when smashed. "Monte.." He said and the blond looked at him. "Yes sir?" He asked. "You can't run away. Tony doesn't dislike you as much as you think, and even if he did, is it worth your life?" Gibbs was trying to speak wisdom into this guy's life. He saw Monte stop, sighing. "You didnt have to say that outloud you know.." Monte said, a bit gloomily. "I didn't have time to pull you to tue side. You were to close to being gone." |
Tony frowned, watching the interaction between Monte and Gibbs. Would it really be so terrible to get another agent to watch the kid? After all, there were plenty in the building. It wouldn't exactly be hard. He clenched his fist as he watched Monte head towards the elevator. He quickly stood up, ready to stop him. He honestly didn't mind watching him as much as he'd been complaining. Plus it would probably do Tony some good to stay in a little more and not go out as much. Plus, it wasn't as if he could stand aside and let Monte leave, knowing that there was someone out to get him. That went against his morals. "Hey kid... I really don't mind if you want to stay. In fact, I insist." He said, taking a step towards the kid.
((Sorry it's so short..)) |
Monte clenched his fist. Tony had hit a nerve. "I think I'll go now." He said quietly. He was eighteen years old and Tony insisted on calling him 'kid.' "And just in case you forgot, my name is Monte." He hit the button to summon the elevator and ran smack dab into Abby who looked at him weird. "Who's covering you?" She asked, seeing he was clearly leaving and no one seemed to be following. Tony was standing up, Tim was staring at Monte, and Gibbs actully looked nervous, slightly jittery. "What's going on?" Abby asked warily, having a feeling this was what it looked like. "Monte.." She warned, wondering why he felt the urge to go out on his own. "What are you doing?" She asked and he turned, glaring at her. "Going to wash this stupid shit out of my hair." He barked, stepping onto the elevator. "I think you pissed him off." Abby said, looking at Tony. "You know, he only agreed to grown up because he thought you'd notice." Abby shrugged. "I'm going to say that from his reaction, this is most likely either involving you, or it's your fault. And I don't know how he's going to get to far on foot. He doesn't have a car."
Monte sat down at the bus stop. He'd just pay his way somewhere else, get a job and make it all go away. He looked at his watch, frowning. The bus was late. He was budled up in a coat, wearing glasses and doubling his hair up oddly. His own mother wouldn't have recognized him with that blind hair and odd outfit. He wasn't going to stop and think about what he was doing. He was just going to end up dead no matter how long he ran and how many special agents tried to save him. He didn't want to be saved. He just wanted to be an adult before he died. He wanted to feel like he'd at least made it that far before his life was sucked out of him. ((it's fine ^^ it doesn't have to be long.)) |
Tony frowned. What did he do wrong to have Monte react like that? Was it because he called him kid? Because that was ridiculus. It just kind of came out before he could stop it. Plus, as long as Monte was going to act like a kid, which he was doing now, Tony was going to treat him like one. He said before heading to the elevator, planning on tracking the kid down. It didn't take long for him to spot him and Tony sat next to him on bench at the bus stop. "You know, if you want me to treat you like an adult, then you need to start acting like one. And that means not throwing a fit like this because something happens that you don't like."
Monte glared. "hmm, let me try to explain this words an idiot can understand...I. Am. Going. To. Die. I. don't. have. time. To. grow. up." He snapped. "And if anything, you're the one always being a child, because I know you don't want to take care if me and it's quite clear to me. I'm not staying someplace I'm not welcome." He scooted away from Tony. "Now go away. I don't need your help. Hell, I don't see how you people at NCIS can be naive enough to think this is going to end right, but it isn't. I'm going to die. It's inevitable. You can't watch me forever." He heard the bus approaching. That's when he saw him. There was a man that exited the bus that looked identical to his father. He blinked a few times and then bolted without thinking, straight into his arms. At first the stranger seemed to be trying to figure out how this boy was, but once he realized he grinned. Of coarse, Monte was so glad he forgot that it wasn't possible that this man was his father, and he didn't noticed the scar on the man's neck that indicated plastic surgery. This wasn't his father, but rather a way to kidnap him.
Tony resisted the irge to growl at Monte. How dare he call him an idiot? If the kid thought he was going to die, and he kept saying it, that was just a way to make it true. If he actually believed in the NCIS team, then he's know they weren't going to let him die. And regardless if Tony actually wanted Monte to stay with him was beside the point. He was just being an ungrateful brat who couldn't see that there was people actually trying to help him. Tony jumped up when Monte did and hurried after the kid and yanked him back a few feet away from the man. He could tell this man looked like Monte's dead father and he also knew this was attempt to kidnap Monte. Tony wasn't going to let that happen.
Monte glared at Tony. "What the crap is wrong with you? Can't you see that my father?" He said, eyes narrowing in a warning. The man smiled at Monte. Even his voice was the same..it seemed so real..but how? How was his daddy alive? "Monte..now, just come to your daddy and everything will be ok. I'm going to tale you home and make everything better." Monte wanted to go with the man he believed to be his father. "How are you alive?" He asked, a loom of puzzlement on his face. "I'll explain everything soon, just come with me." Monte reached out, about to go with him. He just wanted his father so badly. He wanted the one thing he was missing in his broken life. "Dad.." He whispered, closing his eyes and thinking. Who should he trust? Tony Di'Nozzo, who hated his guts and only took care of him to keep his job, or his father, the man who'd sacrificed everything for him. The answer seemed obvious enough to him. "I'm going Tony. Don't you dare try and stop me from going with my own father."
Tony couldn't stop a small growl from escaping. Was Monte really that stupid? His father was dead and the kid knew it. He kept a tight grip on Monte's arm and stepped back a few more feet, pulling out his gun. "This man isn't your father. He's dead, in case you forgot. You're the one who found his dead body." He said, keeping his gaze on the stranger, raising his gun. "And I don't know who you are, but if you come any closer, I'll shoot." He was completely serious. He wasn't going to let this man take Monte away. If he did that, then the kid was going to die.
Monte didn't want to believe that his dad was dead, but Di'nozzo's words had snapped him back into reality. That had been a rather nasty mind trick on someone who'd just lost his own father and he was pissed at these people were after him even more. The man pulled out a taszer. Monte looked at Tony who had a gun. "T-Tony...Please...dont...I can't watch him die again..." He gasped, feeling hot liquid streaming down his face. "Please...not again...please..." He pleaded, images of his father whirling through his head. He couldn't take it again. Even if this was an imposter, Monte couldn't see his father laying dead and bloody again. The man had a taszer. If Tony didn't shoot him, he might stun Tony and then Monte would be in trouble. Monte got closer to Tony, nuzzling his head into the man's chest and refusing to look until this was all over.
Tony didn't want to put Monte through any more emotional trauma than the boy's been through already, but if this man tried something, he was authorized to shoot. He narrowed his eyes at the tazer, knowing he wasn't having any choice right now. He was glad when Monte covered his face. This would make it a lot easier. Tony kept a tight, but gentle hold on Monte as he aimed his gun and firing, being sure to hit the gut in the shoulder so he'd drop the tazer. He would have loved to kill him, but knew Gibbs was going to want to interigate him. "Call Gibbs." He said, handing Monte his cellphone before going to handcuff this guy quickly before he could do anything else.
Monte screamed when he heard the gunshot, covering his ears and burying his face deeper in Tony's chest as if trying to escape this all. He stared at the phone, shocked into inaction for a second before he called Gibbs, telling the older agent to come to where they were. Within a few minutes a car arrived that had Gibbs, Ziva, and Tim, al three getting out and Tim putting the guy in the car. Gibbs looked at Tony. "Get him home. He needs rest." Gibbs said, glancing at Monte who was staring off blankly into space.
Tony kept his gun locked on the guy until Gibbs showed uo. He waited until the guy was in safe arms before turning to Monte. He rubbed the kid's back gently, hoping he didn't traumatize the poor guy. "It's alright... Just relax..." He said, taking Monte's arm gently and leading him to his car. While they walked, Tony kept an eye out for anyone else suspicous. He opened the passenger seat for Monte, helping the kid in before getting in the driver's seat and starting towards his house.
Monte sat in the passenger side of the car, staring out the windshield and not saying a word. He sat like that for most of the ride, only speaking when they'd stopped. "Tony...I promise I won't do something stupid like that again." He felt kind of fragile at the moment. "You're right...you're so right. I'm a child..." He held his head in his hands and groaned. "I can't do this. I can't put you through this anymore. I promise I'll behave." He clamped his mouth shut again, not planning to speak another word for the rest of this whole investigation. He was just going to be easy to take care of.
Tony didn't like how quiet Monte was being during the drive to his place. Sure, the kid must be in shock, but still? Well... Tony couldn't really blame him. If he was in that type of situation and he saw someone he loved come back from the dead, he didn't think he would have been able to act rationaly. "It's not your fault. You responded just like anyone else would. Don't go blaming yourself." Tony said, parking his car and getting out.
Monte nodded his head just slightly, remaining silent. He was still dazed, his state of mind not really all that good. He felt like he'd caused a lot of trouble and he really just wanted his father back. He wanted things to go back to normal and for none of this to have ever happened. He didn't even realize he'd been crying until just now when he reached up and touched his face, surprised to feel liquid there. He frowned and just walked to Tony's front door, ready to go to bed without even considering eating anything.
Tony frowned slightly, watching Monte, worried. He knew the kid was in shock, but he didn't like seeing him like this. He followed him up to his door, unlocking it and stepping inside. Once the door was closed, Tony wrapped his arms around Monte, offering him comfort. He figured he needed it after seeing the kid crying. And even if Monte fought him, Tony was going to be there for him, whether he wanted him to be or not.
