"My pleasure." Altair curled around her, tugging the blanket up a little ways so she could grab it if she got cold. He shifted just a little so he could rest his forehead against the back of her neck, relaxing.
|
Iris sighed softly and snuggled in with him. It didn't take her long at all to fall asleep and she managed to sleep right through the night, only stirring when the baby started getting active again in the early morning.
|
Altair was awake again by then, since he still kept his habit of rising with the sun. He looked over at her from stretching out on the floor, wearing only loose pants at the moment.
|
Still half-asleep, Iris managed to sit up and started to rub her belly a little bit to try to calm the baby. It didn't work, though, so she ended up getting out of bed to see if walking around a bit would help.
"Morning," she murmured to Altair when she saw he was up. |
"Morning." Altair looked at her before he leaned over, grabbing his toes and putting his chest to his knees. "The baby's up again, I take it."
|
"Yeah," Iris replied as she started to walk around the room. "Clearly had enough sleep for now." She gave a short sigh. "And I was sleeping so well, too."
|
Altair chuckled quietly. "Perhaps he'll allow you a nap later," he said, looking over at her as he continued to stretch out. "And if not, I can always try again tonight."
|
"We'll see," Iris replied. Once the baby started to calm down a little, she sat back down on the bed. "The baby is obviously just as restless as its father," she said, grinning a little at him.
|
Altair just smirked, finishing his stretches and moving so he was sitting on his knees in front of her. "That's not a bad thing," he reminded her, leaning forward to kiss her briefly.
|
Iris leaned forward a little to return the kiss, smiling a bit as one of his hands made its way to her belly.
"You're not the one being kicked," she teased. As if on cue, the baby started kicking again right under his hand. |
"This is true." Altair rubbed the spot gently with the flat of his palm. "The little one is feisty. I suppose it's a good thing you have less than a month left."
|
"Well, what can you expect of the child of such a noteworthy Master?" Iris replied, giving him another kiss. "Though I will be glad once the little one isn't using my insides as target practice anymore. Those little elbows are sharp."
|
Altair laughed quietly and kissed her again, still extremely pleased with life.
|
Iris returned the kiss, equally as pleased.
"Let me go and take a shower," she said after a moment, "and then we can go and see what we have in the kitchen for breakfast. Sound good?" |
"Indeed." Altair stood so that she could get up, offering her his hands. He felt safe enough in the house to do that. "Shall I check on the other two?"
|
Iris accepted his hands and let him help her up.
"Go ahead," she replied. She grinned teasingly. "If you interrupt something, though, you're on your own." |
Altair snorted. "They can't catch me anyway," he said with a smirk, though he didn't try to deterr her further from her shower. He knew better than that. He also knew better than to try and join her just now. In another month and a half, maybe, but not now.
Instead he made his way to Anna's room, pounding twice before moving out of the way in case someone threw a dagger at him. It had happened before. |
Iris just rolled her eyes a bit and waddled off towards the bathroom to shower.
Ezio was already awake, since he was also in the habit of rising early, so he was the one to open the door when Altair knocked. Setting down his blade (he'd been looking it over to see if it needed some attention), he opened the door. |
"Breakfast in twenty," Altair said, glancing into Anna's room. He still didn't get along with her, but he couldn't fault Ezio for keeping her, and he couldn't deny she was a good Assassin. And much better than most of her other American counterparts still.
Anna flapped a hand at him from where she was sitting in the windowsill, still dressed only in knee-length gym shorts and a bra. Altair almost blanched at that, but didn't quite. |
Ezio nodded, and glanced down the hall when he heard the shower.
"Iris is already awake?" he asked. He knew she usually tried to sleep in. |
Altair nodded. "The baby is very active."
"And kicking like a mule?" Anna hopped down and headed over to go join the conversation. "Apparently he has sharp elbows." Altair kept his voice dry. "Put some clothes on, woman." "I could say the same to you, Arab." "More important for you to cover up." "My house, my rules." "Iris owns it too." "But you don't, therefore your argument is invalid and void. I'll get dressed when I damn well want to." Anna put her hands on her hips. Altair just glowered at her. |
Ezio sighed, but let them get the argument out of the way. It was practically tradition by now.
"Surely there is not much longer until the child is born?" he cut in after a moment or two. |
Altair shook his head. "Less than a month until it's due," he said quietly. "So approximately then."
Anna nodded. "Good. Then you'll have your own kid to terrorize instead of me." She turned and headed over to her closet to grab some clothes. Altair raised his eyebrows at Ezio. |
Ezio just raised his hands helplessly.
"You know as well as I that women are not to be controlled," he defended. |
Altair snorted. "I didn't realize she was inked elsewhere." He'd noticed the peacock feather tattoo. Actually it was kind of hard not to notice it when she was wearing so little with her back to the two of them. He'd seen the brotherhood tattoo before, but not that one.
