"You can get your stuff later," Jack suggested, looking down at Ianto sitting on the bed. "You look a mess. Just stay here and sleep for a bit. It's late anyway." He turned and began to walk away, intending to head to his office, do a sweep of the hub to make sure there was no left over tech left from Lisa or the converter machine before haeding to his own bed.

As he walked he tilted his head back over his shoulder and gave a thumbs up sign to Ianto. "See you tomorrow Ianto." He would have added a joke, probably something about Ianto having no excuse for being late to work but refrained from doing so. He doubted the joke would be appreciated. Instead he kept walking back to his office.

Ianto watched Jack go. He knew he would need to get his bag before going to bed because his pjs were in tthem but, since he wasn't planning on going to sleep anytime soon, he wouldn't need them right now. He knew he wouldn't be able to sleep in the Hub. Not with everything that has happened.

He waited until Jack wass out of the archives before standing. Since he was here, might as well get some work done, right. He went over to the section of the archives he's been working on and pulled out some boxes to sort through.

Now fully satisfied that there was no tech left from the cyberman convertion unit that was not heavily under lock and key Jack allowed himself to relax slightly. He flicked the screens over to the cameras in the archieves adn frowned at what he saw. Ianto was working. Really he shouldn't have been surprised. It was as if being busy was the Welshman's coping mechanism. It would make sense in a way he suposed but the other should be resting not working. He debated with himself, running over senarios in his head before finally deciding that he would leave the other to his filing for the moment. He had some paperwork to catch up with anyway. Loathed as he was to do it it would allow him to keep an eye on the other while getting something productive done. Once that was completed if Ianto was still working he would go down and make sure the other actually went to sleep. Even if he got a few hours sleep rather than a full night it would be better than nothing.

His decision made Jack settled down to start on the mini mountain of papers that had piled up over the last...two or three weeks? Had it really been taht long since he'd taken the time to do this? Oh well. At least he was doing them now.

Ianto worked slowly, unable to fully focus. Normally he loved working in here. This was his space, where he felt the most secure. Yet, thoughts of Lisa kept popping up, reminding him of all the times he slipped off to see her while he was supposed to be working. The thoughts of her brought tears to his eyes. He wiped them away before they could fall though. It made him wish he could just wipe away the pain in his heart. But, he knew that the only way to do that was to take retcon and forget everything about Torchwood, including Lisa. But he didn't want to forget her, so that wasn't an option.

Before he knew it, a few hours have gone past. Not that he looked at a clock once. He just kept forcing himself to stay focused on his work and have his thoughts off everything that he lost. It was harder to do than he had thought it would be.

Jackwas finally finished and although he was tired he did not need as much sleep as a normal human would, the conbination of his fifty first century biology and his strange ability to just not stay the hell dead combining to ensure taht he never needed more than four hours sleep at the most. He glanced at the screen to see that Ianto aws still working. He frowned, noticing that teh Welshman actually made a mistake with his filing. That was a clear sign the other was in need of some sleep and if he didn't get it soon he was sure the other was going to colapse from exhaustion. Enough was enough. Jack had been willing to let the other work for a bit if it brought him comfort but not at the expense of the younger man's health. Standing from his chair he strode down to the archieves. As he approached Ianto he quieted his foosteps so that only a human with meta abilities would be able to hear him. Silent as a cat he aproached Ianto and then, when he wa sure the Welshman wasn't aware of his presense he reached out and plucked the thing in Ianto's hand sout of his grasp.

~"I thought I told you to get some sleep," he commented. He took a few steps back just in case Ianto decied to swing for him in his fright and waited for the other to respond, expecting an explision.

Ianto didn't notice when Jack approached him. Or when the file was taken out of his hands. But he couldn't stop himself from jumping when the captain spoke. He looked at him and held back a yawn.

"I'm not tired." He told him. Which, of course, was a lie. He didn't want to go to sleep. He couldn't face the nightmares that he knew would come. Plus, he couldn't sleep in his clothes and his bags were to far away. "There is still some work I would like to get done. Tonight." He added, hoping Jack would leave him alone.

"Do not bullshit me Ianto Jones," Jack all but growled. "It's been a long day. We've both been up for at least eighteen hours and counting. You have been working down here for the last few hours when you should've been sleeping. I let you because I know it helps you think but enough is enough. I won't let you drive yourself into the dirt with work when I know I could do somethign to stop it. This isn't a suggestion; it's an order. Get some sleep Ianto or so help me I'll cuff you to the bed."

He knew he was snappy but the day was catching up with him and all he wanted was to return to his bed and get some sleep himself. It didn't matter that he didn't need that much sleep. When he was tired he started to get a bit moody and unfortunately it looked like Ianto would bear the bront of that until teh welshman wised up and went to sleep, preferrably soon befoe Jack was actually forced to take out the cuffs and follow through on his threat. Not that he wouldn't mind seeing Ianto tied to a bed.....he quickly cut that train of thought off before it could fully develop, focusing instead on teh Welshman in front of him.

Ianto glared briefly at Jack. Why couldn't he understand he didn't want to go to sleep? It wasn't that hard to figure out. Besides, he would be fine without sleep for at least one night. He's done it before. Several times. It doesn't bother him doing it again.

"laying down isn't going to make me fall asleep. I'd rather be doing something productive than just laying around, sir." He stated. He was sure Jack wouldn't actually cuff him to the bed. If he was going to follow through with threats, the captain would have shot him when he refused to kill Lisa.

"How exactly is it productive when you're so tired you didn't even realise you were filing this-" he waved the item in his hand in front of Ianto to make a point "-in the completely wrong section? Face it Ianto you're not functioning right now and you need some rest."

Jack sighed internally. If Ianto got any more frustrating he would administer a sedative just so he could get some time where he wasn't worrying that the welshman was going to run himself ragged. The option was looking more and more tempting. He knew where Owen kept them after all.....

Ianto was silent when Jack said he was doing the filing wrong. Can't do that, it would mess up the system. And now that he knew, he just needed to get some coffee and he would be fine.

"I am functioning just fine. I just need some coffee." He stated. He wasn't going to go to sleep. Jack couldn't make him. He wouldn't allow it. He moved past Jack, intending to go to the kitchen to set up the coffee machine.

"That's it!" Jack growled, grabbing Ianto and spinning the other around to face him. His eyes were burning with anger as he looked into the face of the welshman. "I have had it with this Ianto." Before the other could react Jack had lifted him bodily off the ground and slung him over his shoulder, positioning him in such a way that any blows he tried to reign on jack with either fists or feet would do no good. He used one arm to hold Ianto's legs still and the other to hold his arms still in a bizarre parody of a fireman's carry. He was thankful that he was far stronger than the welshman as he moved between the archieve sites and found Ianto's bed. Moving quickly Jack tossed Ianto onto the bed, making sure to keep a firm hold on his wrists. Before the welshman could react Jack had whipped out a pair of cuffs from seemingly nowhere and had quickly attached one around Ianto's wrist and the other around the frame of the bed.

"There," he said, glaring down at the welshman as he straightened up. "Now if you want to go anywhere you'll have to take that with you although I don't recommend it. If you keep this up I'll chain a foot too so you'll be stuck in that position. I won't let you kill yourself by working without a break and coffee isn't going to solve anything. I'll be down later to unlock you but you are resting, even if it's just lying down without sleeping. Now, Goodnight Ianto."

Ianto wasn't expecting Jack to stop him and pick him up. He instantly started struggling, but nothing he did help. Didn't stop him from trying. He glared at the captain when he was suddenly on the bed and his hand was cuffed. He really wasn't expecting that.

He continued to glare at Jack for another moment before looking away. He would wait until the other man was out of the room before he started trying to get the cuff off. Though now that he was laying down, he could feel his exhaustion catching up with him. It was a struggle to keep his eyes open, which he failed. He was soon asleep.

Jack sighed in relief, quietly of course, as he heard Ianto's breathing even out behind his back. he knew the other wouldn't last long. He debated with himself before quietly slipping the cuff off the bed but leaving it around Ianto' wrist so as not to disturb the other, just in case. At least he'd finally gotten the other to rest. He doubted teh Welshman would thank him for it but he didn't really care at this point. He cast a final glance at Ianto over his shoulder before leaving the archieves and heading to his little bunker under his office. It took him a little longer than Ianto to fall asleep but soon enough Jack was also breathing deeply huddled on his bed beneath the dark red covers as his mind shut down for the night and he allowed himself to rest. It ahd been a trying day and he figured he deserved a peaceful night's sleep.

It was about an hour later when the nightmares came. Ianto rolled over and whimpered slightly. He woke with a start, barely stifling a scream. His eyes were wide as he looked around, breathing hard. It took him a few minutes to realize where he was and that it had just been a dream. And another couple minutes to realize he wasn't still cuffed to the bed. Good. That meant he didn't have to stay there. He stood and moved away from the bed, intending to get back to work to be distracted.

It was four hours later before Jack's eyes opened. He stretched like a cat, back arching off the bed before he stood. he rubbed at his eyes in irritation before climbing out of the little bunker like space and into his office. He glanced at a clock and frowned as he saw it was still rather early. He'd thought he'd sleep for another hour but he felt rested enough so it wans't a very big deal anyway. He stretched again before deciding taht he'd go down and check on Ianto. He decided not to use the camera in favour of going down in person, feeling that it would probably be best if the other was already awake.

Slipping from the office and being careful not to make any sound Jack made his way down to the archieves.

While Ianto was trying to work, he was more focused on trying to stay awake. He knew that if he could have some coffee it would help, but starting the machine would wake Jack up if he was asleep. And if the captain wasn't he would be able to see him from his office. He didn't want to face Jack right now, not after what he did. He just wanted to be left alone so he could forget his dream and do his work.

Jack wans't surprised to find Ianto working in the archieves when he entered. He frowned when he saw that the other didn't look much better than when he left but he knew the other had slept at least a little so he would leave him alone for the moment.

"Come on!" he called, not bothering with a morning greeting. He knew from experience that the question "how did you sleep?" or "how are you feeling?" would either be met by a sarcastic comment, a glare of the anser of "fine" so there was no point in asking. "If you really want to work then there's some stuff to do up top and you can get some coffee." He knew it wouldn't help but the sooner Ianto realised that it wouldn't do anything, that even with coffee in him he would still feel like crap then the sooner he could get it out of his system. He had decided that he would let Ianto self destruct.....to a point and then he'd pick up the pieces. He couldn't be bothered to fight with Ianto anymore and he just didn't want the added pressure of dealing with a self destructive, possibly suicidal if this kept up, Welshman.

Ianto jumped when he heard Jack speak suddenly. His heart beat faster for a moment before slowing back down to normal pace. He was relieved the captain didn't appear to be mad that he was working. That was good. And the thought of coffee was even better. He put down the files he's been working on for ten minutes, having not realized how much time had gone past when he picked them up, and went pass Jack into the main area of the Hub.

He went straight to the kitchen area and seat up the coffee machine, making the strongest brew they had. He would need it if he wanted to stay awake, after all. It didn't take long and he made himself a cup, drinking the whole thing quickly, regardless on how hot it was. He barely noticed. He then made himself another cup and one for Jack as well, taking that one to the captain's office for him to drink.

Jack was behind his desk once more as Ianto entered the room carrying his morning coffee. He looked over the Welshman discretely, noting the rumpled clothes and frowning slightly. The frown dissappeared as he took his coffee, enhaling the scent deeply before lowering it to the desk and smiling slightly at Ianto.

"Thanks," he said before studying the Welshman again. "Although I think you'd better change before Owen, Tosh and Gwen get here. Your stuff's still in your car so just go get it whenever you feel like it." Ianto looked about ready to colapse even though he had clearly already had a cup of coffee since his eyes were a little brighter than they had been before. It wouldn't be long before it wore off though and when it did the Welshman would crash. Maybe it was better if he worked himself to exhaustion. If he did that he wouldn't be able to dream because his mind would be too tired to do anything but shut down.

Ianto nodded inagreement. It probably would be a good idea to change. A shower couldn't hurt either. He left the office and went out to his car, grabbing his bags out of his trun and heading back into the Hub. He went down to the restrooms and took a shower, letting the water wake him up more.

He finished within the hour, got out, dried off, and got dressed for the day in one of his suits. By the time he made it upstairs, Tosh was sitting at her station. He smiled at her before fetching her a cup of coffee and a refill for himself.

Jack watched as Tosh entered the hub. Ianto wasn't finished yet so he took the time to go down adn greet her properly. When she asked about Ianto Jack didn't want to worry her but he wouldn't lie to the Japanese woman. She was Ianto's best friend here and he wouldn't strain their friendship by allowing Ianto to play down how bad the situation was. He had looked at the camera footage of the night before and seen taht Ianto had barely gotten an hour's sleep before he was up. Granted it was more than Jack had expected but it still wasn't enough for a healthy human being to function.

He explained and quietly asked her to keep a close eye on him just in case. Owen wouldn't need to be told. He was a doctor and therefore would know the signs of PTSD along with shock and he would immediately be able to tell taht Ianto wans't sleeping. Then again none of them had been taht observant before but they weren't palying attention. Now that they were Jack was determined taht they take care of Ianto properly, like they should have been doing in the first place before this whole mess with Lisa sprung up and completely tore their team appart. He wasn't going to let everything fall appart because of this. They would get Ianto back to the way he was before, or how he should have been if he wasn't keeping secrets from them.

Ianto brought Tosh her coffee. He apologized for yesterday, everything that happened including tricking her into coming back to the Hub without him. He explained that he just needed some time to himself and that he wouldn't do that to her again. He didn't make any promises about anybody else though.

Before he was able to slip back into the archives Owen and Gwen arrived, both late by a few minutes. He went to the kitchen and made them both a cup of coffee, bringing it to them quickly. He didn't stop long enough to talk to them though. He couldn't face them after what happened. Instead, he instantly went to the archives.

Things seemed to be going pretty slowly and as Jack stuck his head out of his office door he noted that Tosh and Owen were doing what they were suposed to be doing while Gwen was doodling in the corner of a blank sheet of paper while her paperwork sat untouched on the end of her desk where Ianto had probably left it at least two or three weeks ago.

"Owen!" he called, getting the medic's attention. "Can you go down to teh archieves and grab Ianto? He's due a medical adn I want you to do a full physical, take down everything. He's too light, he's pale and I know he hasn't been sleeping. If he needs anything perscribe it. I don't care if he complains. Just get him up to the med bay. Use handcuffs if you have to." He didn't smile at the last part like he normally would. He was deadly serious. Even if Ianto ignored the advise or medication given to him by Owen Jack still wanted him to have an examination so taht at least he would know what was up with teh Welshman. And maybe knowing the extent of how bad he really was would get Ianto's attention enough for him to take a little more care fo himself. His hopes were not high though.

Owen looked up when he heard Jack call for him. "Alright, boss." He said, standing. He wasn't mad at Ianto about what happeneed. He knew that he would have done the same thing if he was in that position. And he would have done anything to save Katie if he could.

He went down to the archives. It took him a moment to find Ianto. And a while longer to convince the Welshman to ccome up to the medical bay. And he only went when told it was Jack's orders. Upon arriving, the dotor began his examination.

Jack watched Owen dissappear down to the archieves before turning to Gwen. The Welsh woman was looking at him and was, again, distracted from her work. She was staring at him with those large eyes of hers, hoping that he would take notice of her. Fat chance of that happening. He hadn't taken much notice of the local time traditions but he had learned to respect when someone was in a relationship where they clearly didn't want to lose the partner. He was quite sure taht BGwen would quite hapily drop Rhys for him but he knew he wouldn't be able to stick with a one on one relationship with Gwen and he didn't want to do that to Rhys. It wasn't fair that he was second best in Gwen's life but if he ignored the woman, made it obvious taht he wasn't interested, hopefully she would get the message and back off. He mentally snorted. Who would have thought taht he, Jack Harkness, was thinking of telling someone to back off. It was laughable. If his old partner could only see him now.....

"Gwen!" he called. She looked hopeful, her eyes lighting up, thinking taht he would maybe call er up to his office. She would be dissappointed. "Actually do some paperwork while you have the chance. We can't all keep picking up your slack."

"But there's so much of it!" she complained.

"You're the newest and you've got the least to do," Jacksnapped. "Toughen up and get it done." With taht he turned back into his office and sut the door so he couldn't hear what Gwen's retort was and he didn't turn back to see her expression but hopefully she'd listen, even just to get his approval.
