"Wouldn't waste the bullet," Cal muttered as he edge forward and nudged the thing as well.

"I don't know about you, but that crowd's a little big even for me," Bahiti said. "So unless you have some sort of anti-zombie juju..."

"Hey!" Christine pouted at him. "I resent that. I am definitely worth at least one bullet."

Niko just rolled his eyes at them, going back to scanning the area now that he had a better idea what to look for.

"Yeah, no," Harry said. "So unless we want to kill these things or figure out a way to incapacitate them..." He backed away a bit.

Cal raised an eyebrow at her.

"You think I'd put a bullet in you when I can use it on something that actually needs killing?" he asked. "Please."

"I thought you were magic," Bahiti said, glancing at him.

Christine just grinned. "You know, that's a kind of twisted compliment," she said, starting to walk again.

"I am, but my magic tends to be rather explodey, and if we don't want these people dead..." Harry looked at her.

"Men and their explosions, honestly," Bahiti muttered, trying to figure out what to do about the shuffling former-people.

"I suggest we back off for a bit and try another area," Harry said, glancing around. "Until we figure out what to do about them."

Bahiti nodded.

"Good plan," she said. "When we find a safe spot, I'll let Christine know what we found."

Harry nodded and backed off, heading back to the Beetle so they could drive away and find a better spot. Preferably not teeming with former-humans.

Bahiti followed, getting into the little car quickly.

"Now what?" she asked. "We can't hurt them because they used to be people and Tamara thinks they might be again, and we don't know if they'll hurt us."

"Now we retreat and see if we can get to another area to look," Harry said. "For the moment. We can come up with a plan to deal with them if we don't find the demon anywhere else."

Bahiti nodded and pulled out the phone she shared with her sisters. She dialed Christine.

"Any luck?" Christine asked as soon as she picked up. She knew who was calling, after all. She stepped around the second demon that Cal had killed, making a face.

"People," Bahiti said. She made a bit of a face when the phone filled with static for a moment and glanced at Harry. "The ones got by the sickness. Dozens of them must be here, I don't know why."

"Well, either the demon is building an army of part-humans, or they've all congregated there for some other reason." Christine tapped her fingers against her thigh. "Did you see anything besides the part humans?"

"No," Bahiti replied. "Just the non-humans. It was kind of creepy, in a shuffling-zombie kind of way."

Christine snorted, and made a face when more static interrupted them. "Well, hopefully we won't have to deal with them again. Hopefully."

"I hope so," Bahiti replied. "Any luck on your end?"

"Just some lesser demons that Cal's been having fun using as target practice." Christine grimaced as Cal shot another one, poking at the vaguely dog-like thing with her boot.

"So still nothing useful," Bahiti translated. She swore a bit. "It's playing with us, I swear."

"That would not surprise me in the least right now." Christine's eyes narrowed. "I wonder..." She paused, tapping her fingers against her thigh again.

"Wonder aloud for us," Bahiti said.

"Remember those two that visited the house the other night?" Christine asked, watching as Niko and Cal stopped too, apparently unwilling to leave her behind. "I wonder if they could actually help us. I mean, they registered on my radar, and all the demons we've come across have registered too. So maybe they know something useful?"

"They could be anywhere," Bahiti said. "They might not even be in the city anymore."

"Maybe. Maybe not. I'm going to see if I can find them. They might have a better idea what they're doing, after all." Christine closed her eyes and started searching the area for anything pinging off her radar.

"Call me back if you get a hit," Bahiti said. "My phone's doing funky things, so I want to give it a rest for a bit."
