"Good idea. I'll let you know." Christine hung up, putting her phone back in her pocket and still searching the area for the two.
So she nearly shrieked when they both popped up right behind her. |
Cal most certainly didn't jump at all when she shrieked and whirled around, gun pointed at the newcomers.
|
"I am sorry, dear," Azi said with a little smile.
"What the hell?" Christine snapped. "Would it kill you to approach like a normal person?" "Yes," Crowley said with a smirk. Azi shot him a Look before turning an apologetic smile on Christine again. "You know these two?" Niko asked, not lowering his blade yet. "Unfortunately," Christine grumped. |
"Please don't take anything he says personally," Azi said, looking between the three of them. "He doesn't mean it most of the time."
|
Christine snorted. "Alright, so I have a few questions for you."
"We might have answers." Crowley smirked. "You mentioned you had some idea what's going on here. Any idea how to find whatever caused this?" |
Cal gave them both a look that just dared them to play with them.
"I would think you'd have already figured it out," Azi said. "You found us, didn't you? Or you would have." |
"Yeah but my range is very limited," Christine said. "And we don't have time for me to go meandering around the city."
|
Azi looked a bit torn between encouraging her to try and helping her out by just telling her. Both options were equally as appealing.
|
"Look, I can't feel anything beyond maybe five hundred feet, and it'll take me way too long to scour the city with that kind of range," Christine said, frowning. "More people are getting turned into those weird hybrid things, and we don't even know if there's a way to turn them back yet. We don't have time for me to learn right now."
|
"Yes, you're right," Azi gave in. He looked at his companion. "Crowley, if you would be so kind?"
|
Crowley sighed. "Really, Angel?" he murmured, even as he did as Azi asked. "You're teaching her later." He took only a few moments to find the demon. "South of here about a mile."
"Great. Now how do we beat it?" "You won't be able to, it's stronger than you are." Crowley smirked a bit. |
"Of course," Azi replied, smiling serenely at Crowley.
Cal snorted. Not like he and Nik hadn't beaten those odds before. "A mile south?" he confirmed. |
"Yes." Crowley's voice hissed a little as he looked at the two brothers before switching his gaze to Christine. "I think I'm insulted. You'll work with them but not us?"
"You two popped up rather suddenly without warning and already knew who I was. Forgive me for being a bit freaked out by that." Christine made a face at him. |
"She has a point," Azi said quietly to Crowley. "Be reasonable. She should feel comfortable."
|
"She won't be comfortable for much longer if she gets herself killed," Crowley pointed out. "Much as I do hate to do something for nothing, I'm never going to hear the end of it from you if we don't."
|
"By all means," Azi replied, "if you'd like to do the right thing and help her, I won't stop you." Because Crowley was right; he'd never hear the end of it if they let her die.
|
Crowley heaved a put-upon sigh, muttering uncomplimentary things under his breath in Aramaic. "Alright, we'll go with. And you're coming too, Angel, there's no way you're getting out of this."
|
Azi very nearly pouted, but didn't object. He knew by now when it was futile to try to argue, and this was one of those times.
|
Crowley smirked but didn't say anything else, looking at the three expectantly.
"Hold up," Christine grumbled. "Let me call Bahiti and let her know what's going on." She dialed quickly, keeping half of her attention on the two pairs. |
Bahiti picked up her phone on the first ring.
"This is Bahiti," she answered. "What's up, Chris, anything new?" |
"Yeah. The two found the demon responsible, said he's a mile south of where we currently are. You two want in?"
|
Bahiti covered the speaker of the phone briefly and looked at Harry.
"They found the source," she said. "A mile south of the new industrial park. Chris wants to know if we want in; I'm assuming we do." |
"Yup. Tell me which direction to drive." Harry glanced at her.
Christine waited patiently, shooting Cal a look when he started to get impatient. |
"We're on our way now," Bahiti relayed to Christine. "We'll meet you there."
Indeed, Cal was starting to get fidgety. He didn't like the situation at all. |
"Alright, we'll see you there." Christine shut her phone. "Alright, let's go."
Harry glanced over at her. "I'm kind of surprised they found the demon so quickly." |
