"We ran into him back home," Bahiti said. "In Pittsburgh. Apparently he was looking into the same problem we were having, and us and a few others ended up working together for a bit."
Thomas snorted. "Just like Harry to meet someone on a job," he muttered, shaking his head. "So I guess the whatever-it-was is no longer a problem?"
"As far as we know," Bahiti said. "And what is this 'met someone'? And don't say you meant it entirely literally, I heard the implication there. We're not dating." She paused. "Okay, yet, as Tam is snickering, yet."
"And it's the yet that I like," Thomas said with a grin. "See, you don't need me to explain anything."
"Shut up," Bahiti said, making a face. "I need to figure out how to keep an older sister from meddling in my affairs. It seems infinitely more difficult with said sister in my head."
"I imagine it is infinitely more difficult," Thomas agreed with a grin. "Good luck figuring that out."
Bahiti just grinned and shrugged.
"We'll see what happens," she said. "I'd say it's something you get used to, but I've never known any time when I didn't have my sisters, so I don't know what it's like for you one-faces." |
Thomas snickered. "And I can very gladly say the same about you," he said with a grin. "But we shall indeed see what happens." He watched Harry argue with Bob as he took Bob back down to the sub-basement.
"So," Bahiti said after a moment, "it's kind of been bugging all three of us... Can I ask what exactly you are? I mean, we know you're not human, or at least not completely, so we're all kind of curious."
Thomas grinned. "White Court. Some people call us incubi." He shrugged, looking at her.
Bahiti blinked.
"That makes so much sense," she said. "That explains exactly why you're so ridiculously pretty." |
"It does help," Thomas agreed idly. "It also helps that I run a salon."
"A salon?" Bahiti asked. She grinned. "Also not really surprising, I suppose."
Thomas shrugged. "It makes things easier for everyone involved." His smile was rather wry.
"I would imagine so," Bahiti said. "I'll believe you're Harry's brother, though, you share some features with him. Would I be right in guessing you only share one parent?" She paused. "That feels so weird to say, we have six parents, technically."
Thomas snickered. "Yes, we share one parent." He shook his head, watching Harry. "He's a goof."
"He's a wizard," Bahiti said, "I think that's allowed." She snickered. "I can't help but picture that iconic hat from The Sorcerer's Apprentice, you know, the Disney version?"
Thomas snickered. "Oh, I can get behind that idea," he said with a grin. "I'll get the hat if you can make it happen."
"We'll see," Bahiti said, grinning. "Maybe once we know each other a bit better."
"It's a deal." Thomas grinned.
Harry grumbled as he made his way over to them again, having left Bob down in the sub-basement. |
"Anything interesting happening?" Bahiti asked, switching her attention to Harry smoothly.
"Besides Bob complaining? Nope." Harry shrugged. "Little Chicago needs some updating."
Bahiti raised an eyebrow in question.
"Pretend for a moment I have no idea what you're talking about," she said. |
"Oh, right." Harry grinned briefly. "Little Chicago. I have a replica of Chicago down there."
"Now explain this in small words easily understood by the average layman," Bahiti said. "Why do you have a small replica of Chicago?"
