"I suppose not." Loki looked rather amused still though.
"So we had an idea earlier," Kae interrupted. "Oh?" |
Elaine grinned.
"Well, we figure everyone who ends up drunk out of their minds by the end of the convention will probably also end up all just flopped together in a pile like a bunch of puppies," she said. |
As soon as her wording registered, Loki grinned. "Like a pile of puppies, you say?" he asked with just a little evil in his grin. "What excellent word choice."
"We thought you'd approve," Elaine said, grinning as well.
"Oh yes indeed." Loki grinned. "Good thinking. I suppose you had a night in mind for this?"
"Well, we were kind of imagining what the others would say if they say Thor as a puppy," Elaine admitted. "Clint would have a blast, once he got over himself. And Thor would just be adorable enough that nobody would really be angry." And if they were, Elaine was prepared to run interference.
"Keep my brother as a puppy when we return. For a day or two. I like this plan of yours." Loki smirked. "Although if he terrorizes my kitten he's going outside."
"Cats can take care of themselves," Elaine said, waving a hand. "A few swipes at him and he'll get the message to leave her be." She grinned. "She and Smudge will likely gang up on him."
Loki snickered. "Probably. He'll never live it down." He grinned, a little too gleeful about the whole idea.
Elaine just rolled her eyes.
"Just don't violate your parole," she said. "That wouldn't be fun." |
"This won't be a violation. It's not harmful. Just mischievous. Odin shouldn't have a problem with that." And if he did, well, Loki could probably find a way out of trouble again.
"And mischief is hardly unusual for you," Elaine added. She grinned. "But we told you about this now so you have time to plot."
"Oh I'm already plotting. Probably half of these fools will be drinking the last night." Loki almost cackled, but he didn't quite. But he was going to have so much fun with this.
"I think we've unleashed a beast," Elaine murmured to Kae, grinning. "This should be good."
"This should be really good," Kae agreed with a huge grin. She did blink when Elaine's cell phone started buzzing at them though.
Elaine paused as well, and went to get her phone.
"I should take this," she said when she saw the display. Going out onto the balcony, she hit the answer button. "Hey, Steve." |
"Hi Elaine," Steve said, sounding a little relieved that she picked up. "I just, um, wanted to see how things were going." Meaning he'd been worried and he wanted to make sure everything was still fine.
"Everything is fine," Elaine said. "We got back to our room for the night not too long ago, so I was just settling in. How are things back home?"
"Alright. Bruce has holed himself up in his lab, Tony and Clint are perpetually bored and getting on each others' nerves, Natasha's off on a mission..." Steve shrugged, even though he knew she couldn't see. "And I've been in the gym a lot, I guess."
"You and those punching bags," Elaine teased gently. "Why don't you take your dog out on a run or something instead? It'll get you out of the tower for a while."
"I would, but he's napping," Steve said with a little grin. "We went on a run this morning. I took Kae's dog with us too, hope she doesn't mind."
"I'll tell her, but I doubt she'll mind," Elaine said. She grinned a bit. "Is Smudge napping on you too?"
"When I'm sitting down long enough," Steve confirmed with a little grin. "Or laying down. Apparently she thinks I make a great bed."
"She's a lapcat," Elaine confirmed. "She loves snuggling. And I bet you woke up once or twice with her under the covers with you."
"A few times, yeah," Steve agreed, smiling. "She's cute enough she can get away with it. And small enough that when she gets out of line I can pick her up and put her somewhere else."
