"I didn't think so, either," Elaine admitted. "He gave it to me on Christmas. I honestly never expected him to venture into anywhere like Fredrick's."
"Neither did I. I would have guessed he was too shy." Kae shook her head, amused.
"I guess he's getting more comfortable," Elaine said. "Speaking of comfortable, how did Tony take the news of Baby Banner?"
"Surprisingly well, so far," Kae said. "Panicked a bit, called a doctor for me, and is equally adamant about getting the tests and blood samples and stuff." She rolled her eyes. "I get the feeling he's going to become unbearable."
"Of course he is," Elaine said, nodding. "He's Tony."
Kae heaved a long-suffering sigh.
"Alright, what do you think? The maternity-specific multivitamin, or a general one?" She couldn't actually see that much of a difference, and she was tempted to say screw it and not get any. But she'd told Bruce she would. |
"Prenatal vitamins," Elaine said promptly. She grinned. "Text Tony, I'm sure he downloaded a list the second the doctor said 'vitamins'."
Kae sighed again. "Fine, fine." She texted Tony.
Less than two minutes later, she had a small list of vitamins she was told she was going to get. She huffed but grabbed a few bottles anyway. |
"He probably had that ready to go," Elaine said when she saw how fast the text had arrived.
"I'm surprised he didn't send it to me sooner." Kae shook her head and pocketed her phone. "Well, I've got the prenatal, iron supplements, vitamin C, and a general vitamin mix. That should be enough to keep those two off my back, huh?"
"I'd say call it there," Elaine agreed, nodding. "If that's not enough, they can try to convince you to get more, but I think it's fine. I'd run the selection by your doctor, just to make sure, though."
"She just mentioned the prenatal vitamins, and I wouldn't bother with the iron supplements except they're turning into vampires for the next eight months." Kae rolled her eyes.
Elaine grinned.
"I doubt they'll take that much," she said. "But you're probably right." She hugged her friend for a moment. "I'm glad you decided to keep it. You didn't seem sure about it before." |
"I wasn't sure before." Kae smiled a bit and hugged her back. "And we're going to tell everyone tonight, so no one has to guess."
Elaine grinned.
"Ten dollars says Natasha already knew somehow," she said teasingly. |
Kae laughed quietly. "If anyone knows, it would be Natasha," she agreed with a grin.
"I'm starting to think she's some sort of telepath or seer," Elaine said, grinning. "No one person should be able to get as much information as she's able to."
Kae laughed and shook her head, paying for the vitamins and heading back towards the Tower.
Once they were back at the tower, Elaine went to see if she could cuddle up to Steve again, leaving Kae to her own devices.
Kae spent half of the day pacing and muttering, and the other half making food. She figured they were going to need lots of comfort pastries that night, after all.
So she was rather glad by the time dinner time came around so she could settle in next to Bruce. |
Clint was the first one in the kitchen, having followed the smell of pastries. He blinked when he saw them.
"Wow," he said. "What's with all the baking? Going to go for the bakery like Stark said?" |
"Nah, just felt the need to bake," Kae said with a shrug. "Help yourself, but don't blame me if you don't have any appetite for dinner. Which is almost ready, by the way."
"If you say so," Clint said, shrugging and taking an apple turnover. Because he never got them if Phil was around.
Kae shook her head. "Go get Thor and let Natasha know, if she doesn't know already." She pulled out her phone and texted Bruce.
Dinner is ready. |
Clint nodded and disappeared again to get Thor and Natasha.
We'll be right up. Once Bruce had sent the reply, he set about badgering Tony to stop working for dinner. |
