Kae was pleased when Bruce didn't try to dissuade her, so she relaxed to finish dinner.

Elaine was up and ready to go the next morning. She was eager to get out of the tower for a little while for something that didn't involve training or errands of any sort. So now she just needed to wait for Kae and Loki.

Loki was next to arrive, and he waited patience for Kae.

Kae arrived a minute later, grinning at them. "We all ready to go?"

"I'm ready," Elaine said, nodding. She glanced at Loki, who also nodded.

Kae was quite happy when they got to the park, and she found a bench so she could sprawl out in the sun. Clearly she'd been getting a touch of cabin fever.

Elaine sighed a bit as she sat in the sun as well. Yeah, she'd been feeling cooped up, too.

"This is nice," she said.

"Very nice," Kae agreed, closing her eyes. "How much you want to bet they're keeping track of us?"

"I'm not taking that bet," Elaine said. "I just assume they are."

Kae sighed. "I'll get back at them. In a few months." She stretched out a bit more, trying to relax.

"You know they're just being overprotective," Elaine soothed. "'Family' isn't exactly a familiar concept for most of them."

"That does not mean they need to be overbearing," Kae grumbled, though there was no real heat in her voice. She was too comfortable to get really upset.

"They're just worried about you," Elaine said. "They want to make sure you and the baby are okay."

"Just wait until you and Cap have one," Kae grumbled. "You'll understand better then."

"We're... not planning to for a while," Elaine said after a moment. "I'm on the shot, anyways."

"The shot?" Loki looked curious.

"Contraception," Elaine replied. "I get an injection once a month for it."

"So was I," Kae pointed out. "We're still not sure what happened. Things don't go as we plan." She paused and then grinned. "Life will find a way."

Elaine snorted.

"That was bad," she said.

Loki also snorted softly.

"I'm surprised you have yet to realize what happened," he said, glancing at Kae.

Kae eyed him for a moment, sitting up part-way. "You're implying you do know," she said, watching him. "Are you going to make me guess? I really don't feel like guessing."

"Think for a moment on those with whom you share living space," Loki pointed out, smirking slightly.

It took Kae a minute and then she groaned. "Crap. I thought Thor being cited as a god of fertility wasn't accurate."

"One shouldn't dismiss such claims without question," Loki said. "It may not be my brother's primary influence, but it is far from absent."

Kae huffed before she looked at Elaine and grinned. "That means your chances are as good as mine," she pointed out. "So we might have a baby Cap sooner than you think."

"Well, we don't yet," Elaine said. Already, she was turning over options in her mind and making a mental note to buy some extra protection.

Loki snorted. "I won't be surprised when you do end up with a child," he said. "And it will have as much to do with your practicing magic as it will living with my brother."

"So in other words, it's pretty much inevitable?" Elaine asked, raising an eyebrow. She shook her head a bit. "We're not planning to have kids for a while. We'll just have to be more careful now."

Loki hummed a noncommittal reply, just relaxing in the sun with them for the moment. A few humans looked like they might cause trouble over the course of a few hours but Loki sent them on their way with magic nudges.
