"That's why I picked DC," Steve said with a grin. "I knew you'd enjoy going." He got out to get them checked into a hotel.
Elaine grinned and leaned up to kiss him while the desk attendant went to get the card keys for the room.
"Thanks," she said. |
"My pleasure. I haven't been here for a while on a non-work related trip." Steve shrugged. "It'll be interesting to see the museums now."
Elaine grinned.
"I bet the American History museum has a Captain America exhibit," she teased gently. "That could be fun." |
Steve blushed a bit but didn't say anything. He knew they did have an exhibit on him, actually, because Tony had found out and teased him mercilessly for a few days.
Elaine just grinned a bit.
"We can avoid that one for now, if you'd rather," she said, giving him a quick kiss. "Skip over to Natural History or something instead of American History." |
"Natural history is good," Steve agreed, taking their key cards and heading over to their room so they could get settled in.
"Natural History, maybe Air and Space?" Elaine suggested, pulling her bag along to the room.
"Sounds good to me." Steve smiled and got their stuff into the room. "Do you want to go now or later?"
"I think we should settle in today," Elaine said. "We can go to the museums tomorrow."
Steve nodded. "I'll go move the car," he said, kissing her briefly before leaving. He figured he might as well, especially since he was in a temporary spot.
Elaine nodded and went to go put her bag next to the bed, and then changed into something comfortable. Settling in with him for the night sounded like an excellent idea.
Steve turned on the TV for background noise and settled down with her, relaxing. It was nice to not worry about what shenanigans Tony was getting into.
Elaine snuggled in with Steve, cuddling close. It was nice just to have time with him, after the last few months.
Steve settled in with her there, just relaxing and watching whatever she wanted to. He wasn't picky, and the relaxation time was nice.
Leaning up, Elaine kissed him soundly.
"Love you," she murmured around the kiss. |
Steve blinked, a little startled, but returned it happily enough.
"I love you too," he murmured when they pulled a bit apart. |
Elaine snuggled close, kissing him again.
"I'm glad we were able to get away for a weekend. We needed this time away from the others." |
"Yes. It's nice to not have to wonder if I plugged up the vent securely enough." Steve grinned.
Elaine laughed a bit.
"I'll bet," she said. "Although I like to think that Clint has enough tact not to watch us at night." She paused, and then grinned teasingly. "Though I suppose we'd give him a good show." |
Steve snorted and shook his head. "Well, we don't have to worry about that anymore. Like I said, I blocked the vents to our rooms."
"Good," Elaine said. She kissed him again. "And since we don't have to worry about that here..."
Steve laughed quietly and kissed her again.
A weekend to themselves was exactly what they needed, and both were much more relaxed when they got back to the tower. Elaine was able to get right back into magic lessons, able to focus much more on them now.
It seemed like everyone was more relaxed when they got back, which was good. Especially since Steve knew Natasha had been tempted to snap people a few times.
