"I think, all things considered, I know what counts as relaxing," Bruce pointed out with a bit of a grin.
"Well, you get a bit of a break now," Elaine said softly. "I've heard Malibu is nice." |
Kae stuck her tongue out at him, poking him again just because she could.
Steve nodded. "Yeah. Tony's talked about his place there a few times. I'll admit I'm curious." |
Elaine cuddled closer to him.
"We'll find out," she said. She gave him a small kiss. "Go on and get a bit of sleep. I'll wake you when it's time to go." |
Steve nodded and settled down, keeping an arm around her as he settled down to sleep for a while.
A few hours later, the quinjet was there and they were all ready to go. Kae went and knocked on Steve's door. "Hey guys, time to go," she called through the door. |
Elaine woke from her doze when she heard the knocking, and nudged Steve.
"Time to get going," she said to him quietly. |
Steve groaned quietly before he got up reluctantly, looking around blearily. He yawned and pulled Elaine closer, cuddling close to her sleepily.
"Do we have to?" he almost whined. |
"If you want the vacation in Malibu, yes," Elaine replied. She ran her fingers through his hair gently. "Come on, up. The quinjet is already here, they're just waiting on us."
|
Steve sighed but got up reluctantly, helping her up before he grabbed both of their bags.
"Have you ever been to Malibu?" |
Elaine shook her head.
"No, never," she replied. "Even if I had, this would be a new experience anyways." She grinned. "Being able to see it and all." |
Steve smiled a little. "Good. I won't be the only one with no idea what's going on, then." He kissed her quickly before heading up to the quinjet with her.
|
Elaine smiled and returned the kiss before heading up to the quinjet as well. She was looking forward to the vacation time.
|
Kae was already plopped between Tony and Bruce, stretched out and ready for the ride. Clint and Natasha were flying, since they wanted to. Steve picked a seat and pulled Elaine down next to him.
|
Elaine settled in next to Steve and got comfortable, cuddling into his side a bit.
Thor was absent from the group, having taken Loki back to Asgard for a while. It was time to check in with the Allfather, and the time off was timed perfectly for it. |
Since they were in the quinjet rather than a commercial plane, the flight took about three hours. Kae stretched once they were on the ground again, slipping her hand in Bruce's to tug him from the quinjet. They still hadn't been very open about their relationship with the others.
Tony, of course, was the first one into the house, grinning as he looked things over. "Hey, JARVIS. Make the move okay?" "Just fine, sir." Steve waited to get off with Elaine, tucking her arm through his and looking around once they were out. Tony's house was a little mind-boggling, so he focused on the sea instead. |
Bruce let Kae tug him out of the quinjet, walking with her into the mansion. It was just as lavish as he expected it to be.
"It's not as high-tech," Elaine commented softly as she walked out onto the balcony with Steve. "Just as gaudy, but not as high-tech as we're used to from Tony." |
"The lab is just as high-tech," Tony commented. "And JARVIS is still here. This is my house, it doesn't need to be quite as high-tech as the Tower." He shrugged. "There's guest rooms down that way, pick them out yourselves, and feel free to explore."
Kae snickered and shook her head, going to find a room. Steve looked around briefly before looking at Elaine, letting her decide what she wanted to do. He figured he'd go find a room and then go explore outside for a while. |
Elaine squeezed Steve's hand gently.
"Let's pick our rooms," she said, "and then maybe head down to the beach?" Bruce also went to look for a room, picking the one as close to the ocean as he could. He liked the sound of the waves. |
Steve smiled a little and nodded. "Sounds good to me," he agreed. He found a room he liked and dumped his bag on the bed in there.
Kae picked her room before she went to go check on Bruce, grinning briefly when she noticed the view. "Looks like you'll have the best view in the house for sunset." |
Elaine took the room closest to Steve's and put her things in there. Then she went back to find him again.
"Feel free to watch the sunset from here, then," Bruce offered as he set his bag down next to the bed. |
Steve had made his way out to the living room, glancing around. He was kind of impressed, he had to admit. Even if he was kind of nervous about touching anything.
Kae grinned at him and sat on his bed, grabbing his hand. "So, happy to be out for a while?" |
Elaine was no quite so cautious. After a decade of having to feel things to see them, she still trailed her fingers over everything so she would know shapes and textures and everything that simply looking at an item wouldn't completely tell her. She did, however, keep away from anything that might remotely be touch-screen. Tony would be pissed if she accidentally set something off.
Bruce nodded. "It's nice," he said as he sat down with her and pulled her a bit closer. "I like being near the ocean." |
Steve smiled at her, catching one of her hands and pulling her close. "At least there's a nice view," he said quietly.
Kae nodded, nestling into his side. "It's fun. And pretty. We should grab a couple flashlights and go walk after dinner." |
"Yeah, there is," Elaine said. She grinned a bit, teasingly. "The ocean is pretty, too." She cuddled close to him.
Bruce nodded. "We can do that," he replied, wrapping an arm around her. |
Steve chuckled and pulled her close, just relaxing there for the moment.
"So, still want to go exploring?" he asked after a few minutes of quiet. "Good." Kae grinned and stayed there, looking out the window. "So, when are we going to tell the others?" |
"Do you want to?" Elaine asked in return, still cuddling with him. "It's a vacation for you guys, after all." She grinned. "I'm just here to make sure you relax."
"Tell them what?" Bruce asked, a little baffled. |
