Final Fantasy Crystal Warriors
Final Fantasy Crystal Warriors Almost 1,000 years ago a great catastrophe had befallen the land, a few months before the millenium ceremony. From the great wizard tower an army of monsters, demons and beasts came forth, spreading throughout the land causing mayhem and destruction. Veiled in a shroud of mist, the army reached and destroyed many cities and villages before the lands had become warned. As the mist spread further and further, the kingdoms had decided to withdraw from their great lands and head to the great plateaus of the high mountains. Now, almost 1,000 years have passed since those events, people are living happily and healthy on the great plateaus. Unable to return to the lands below by a veil of mist that hovers just below the plateaus edge, said to contain monsters and to curse any who travel within. Thus being separated by such large distances the cities set up a government system. Each city is ruled by a council, who is ruled by their king. Population and farming is heavily governed as the land is limited, also with travel and trade to other cities only being able to be done through various airships the economy can be shaky at times. Especially with the occasional birth of the mist tainted. Those born with natural skill for the dark arts of magic. To prevent these individuals from becoming trouble, the kingdom has made it mandatory for all the mist tained to be enlisted into the army and have a control collar placed upon them. This way should they become too tainted they can be dealt with swiftly... but a greater depression is about the befall the lands. The first millenium ceremony since the great war is coming and the people have no access to the celestial crystal... |

Alexander wiped the sweat from his brow as he looked skyward, the sun was directly above in the sky, his least favorite time of the day. He continued tending to the crops in the field, he did a bit of anything for work from running errands, to farming and minor carpentry repairs, though errands was his favorite work. "blast it all, why can't I get one day of farming where it rains a little while I'm working." he complained to himself. "The worse part of it all is once I finish here I got to go find Alexis who has been gone since before last night." Alex looked around briefly, no one was around him, he never ended up working the fields on a day someone else had to as well. He glanced at the stupid heard animal grazing at the end of the field near him. "Can I trade you for my sister? You listen and cause less trouble." the beast let out a small grunt then went back to eating the grass. Alex was about to laugh in amusement when he heard an airship overhead. Worried he started looking about and trying to listen, whenever an airship was about it meant the rebels were about to be chased, which meant his sister was about to be in trouble.
Alexis stuffed the last of the stolen supplies in a backpack sealed it and handed off to one of the younger men. "Take this and stay with the others." She said to him as he pulled it on. It was his first mission with them and he looked terrified at the prospect of being captured. "You'll be fine." She reassured him "We raid warehouses like this all the time, Nothing's going to..." Her words trailed off as she heard the sound of an airship engine in the area.
"Damn it." She swore under her breath "Alright everyone it sound like it's time to go." She said out loud, and turned to her second hand man. "Keep everyone calm and wait until I distract the guards and make a run for it. He nodded use to seeing Alexis use herself as a decoy so the rest could escape. She'd be fine of course, she always made it back in one piece. Alexis slipped another backpack on, this one mostly empty so it wouldn't weigh her down as she ran. She peered out the door they had broken open and took a few steps out. As soon as she did she heard a shout "Hey you stop right there!" Alexis took a quick look behind her, quickly counting six guards, then took off in a seemingly random direction, ready to lead them on a chase throughout the town while the rest of the rebels escaped. |
Alexander dropped his tools, grabbing his backpack off the ground and slinging it over his shoulder in one fluid movement as he ran off toward the town. He knew the path his sister took to some extent or at least the main ones that led to her favorite hiding spots. As he got onto the streets he headed for the one she passed through often hoping to cut her off, or her followers at least. "Why is she doing this now. She better have one hell of a reason." Alexander complained as he continued to run, attempting to keep an eye out for Alexis.
Alexis darted across the street in front of Alex never even noticing him. She laughed as she ran, not caring that she as only managed to loose two of the guards so far and and there were still four chasing and gaining on her. "You guys are getting slower." she shouted over her shoulder as she ran down the alley directly across from where she had run out of.
Once Alexis ran past him he shouted, "You shouldn't be running around town!" Alexander then made like he was stumbling so he could catch a glimpse of the guards chasing his sister. Once he caught sight of them he fell and let go of his bag to increase the odds of 'accidentally' tripping them. Which worked for one of them who caught his foot on his backpack and face planted into the dirt road. The other guard got around Alexander but not the street cart that was dodging around him. Alexander held back grinning as he picked up his backpack and looked toward the guard.
What the hell do you think you're doing?" The guard who had face planted growled at Alex as he picked himself out of the dirt. He looked at the scene the other three guards were making as they tried to get the cart moved as quickly as possible "She's going to get away now." He turned his heated glare back to Alex.
Alexis sighed as she glanced over her shoulder again and watched as her brother delayed the last four guards enough for her to get the lead she needed to loose them completely. She could have done it herself and while she did appreciate the help she was going to have to listen to him complain and lecture her later for getting herself in the situation. A few quick turns later and a climb up a conveniently placed plant trellis and she was in one of her favorite hiding places. The attic of a house owned by and old couple who were practically deaf so she didn't even have to be all that quiet. |
"What do I think I'm doing? I'm checking to make sure you didn't break anything." Alexander commented as he grabbed his backpack and started to look through it quickly. "Good nothing is broken. I didn't think it would be this dangerous to walk home from work." He commented sounding rather annoyed, then glanced at the guard, "How is it that these 'rebels' seem to cause less damage than the guards running through the city?" Alexander asked as he stood up, taking a brief moment to look from the guard who ran into him, to the other guards at the cart of some merchant.
"Less damage! How dare you..." The guard stopped his rant mid sentence as he noticed the small crowd of villagers gathered around the scene now, that by the glares that were directed at the guards all seemed to be on Alexander's side.
The guard cleared his throat and started again "I apologize and I am glad nothing has been damaged, but it is essential that these rebels be captured and punished for their crimes." He said as he brushed the dirt off of his clothing "What they do hurts everyone, it takes the very food out of all of our mouths." He preached, then noticing that the cart had finally been cleared away from the alley he nodded to Alexander "Please excuse me, I must be going." He said turned on his heel and took off down the alley that Alexis had taken. |
Alexander shook his head and he swung the pack over his shoulder. All these guards were somewhere between lazy and idiots and he was sure the line was thin enough they got a bit of both sides, he thought as he watched them run off. "No worse then the ones who rule us." Alexander commented quietly then took a quick look at the crowd before wandering off down the road he was traveling. He knew by the time he got to where he was going his sister was likely to be there as well, probably with her friends. She had her typical places she used to let things cool down.
Alexis lounged comfortably in the attic for a while until she was sure that the idiots... er guards had gotten themselves thoroughly lost in the back streets of the town and climbed down and headed off to meet up with the rest of her group and sort out the haul they'd managed this time.
She took her time getting to the cave system they used as a hideout. As she approached the entrance she paused and listened to the others chatter. The new guy was practically hyperventilating over the fact she wasn't back yet. Alexis smirked and entered the cave casually everyone turning to look at her as she entered and greeting her with various looks of relief and demands to know what had happened with the guards. "I didn't even break a real sweat." She said as she dropped her backpack with the rest and dropped down on a pile of old sacks stuffed with dried grass. "I swear they must be scraping the bottom of the barrel for guards lately, I wish they would send someone at least sort of competent." She complained. |
A bit after Alexis had arrived at the hideout, Alexander arrived, walked in and closed the door, hard, behind him to get everyone's attention. "Ah, the sky knights. Hero to the people and pain in my ass." Alexander commented as he walked into the room towards his sister. "We need a new hideout. I don't like when he shows up." One of the male members commented.
"It won't help." She said to the other Sky Knight with a shake of her head "He'll just find us again, he always does."
"Then feel free to take your ass else where." Alexis said shooting her brother a glare."What do you want now Alex? We're busy." |
Alexander glanced around at everyone before looking back to his sister, "So what were the sky knights up to this time? Stealing food? Procuring tools?" He asked curiously, wondering what reason they had to get the town into an uproar this time. It always seemed to cause about a week worth of trouble for town workers every time they do a 'good deed'.
"Food mostly." Alexis said as she stood and started to wander around the scattered supplies, to see what exactly everyone had grabbed. "I think I found something better then food though." She said shooting her brother a grin that said she wouldn't tell him what unless he asked her.
Alexander glanced around at the bags of food as she walked by them. He was always surprised how much they could get even if he didn't approve of it. He is sure their father would of hung her for this if he was still around. At the mentioning of finding something better he just rolled his eyes, she was horrible for aiming for dramatic moments. "So? What did you find that was better?" Alexander asked still a little annoyed.
Alexis continued to grin as she left the food and went for her backpack. "This!" She said pulling out a small strange looking device with brightly colored buttons and screen, and holding it up for everyone to see.
Alexander just sighed, "So? what does it do?" Alexander asked, he was always tired of having to ask so many questions. For twins they sure were different in a lot of aspects. Alexander decided to come closer to get a better look at it while he waited for an answer from his sister.
"I don't know yet." She said taking a moment from irritating her brother to dig through her backpack and pull out a small book "I found this with it so I assume this will tell me what it does, either way it was burred in the bottom of a food crate so it has to be pretty important for them to try and hide it, right?"
Alexander was about to comment then had to stop to think about it... why would they hide something with a book at the bottom of a food crate. Taking a minute to think it over he held out his hand, "Give it to me. I want to look at it." Alexander said to Alexis staring directly at her. One of the girls in the group whined a little, "Don't give it to him. We finally found something good, I don't want it given back."
