"Perhaps the Charmings would not be against letting you come back to visit," Gold suggested. "It wouldn't be a bad idea to ask."
|
"Maybe," Tina allowed. "I'll think about it." She shrugged.
|
Gold nodded and lapsed into comfortable silence again, just standing with her.
|
Tina managed to get comfortable, and then almost overbalanced over the edge of the railing, biting off a curse under her breath as she tried to correct before she landed in a tree or something.
|
Gold grabbed her wrist, bracing himself against the railing.
"Careful, dear," he said. "A fall from this height wouldn't be pretty." He looked at her. "Are you alright? You seem bothered by something." |
Tina blinked at him, letting him keep hold of her. "I'm okay," she said after a moment. "Just a bit distracted, I guess."
|
"Distracted?" Gold prompted. He was interested to see what could have distracted her all of a sudden.
Elsewhere in the ballroom, Rachel had found a chair to sit down on. She could feel a migraine coming on, and she didn't feel like mingling anymore. |
"Just a stray thought," Tina said, shaking herself a bit. "Nothing to worry about." She shot him a quick smile.
Hook had given her a bit of time to herself as he did a bit of mingling (although it was mostly dodging unfriendly looks) so he went to go find a place to sit and just watch for a bit. He did frown slightly when he saw her, though. "Something wrong, love?" |
Gold nodded after a moment.
"Alright," he said. "Though please do let me know if something bothers you." "Headache," Rachel replied, glancing at him. "My head's throbbing." |
"I will." Tina smiled a bit and was careful to not sit on the wall anymore. Just in case.
Hook frowned a bit. "Have you been practicing today?" he asked as he took a seat next to her. |
Gold nodded again and lapsed into comfortable silence, just staying there with her.
"A little," Rachel replied. "Not enough for a migraine like this." She had a good idea what was causing the migraine; her brain was suddenly trying to sort through an entirely different life all at once. "Maybe it's the weather or something," she said after a moment. "Storms sometimes do this to me." |
"Ah," Hook said sympathetically. "Should I leave you be?" He didn't really want to, but if she asked he'd walk away again.
|
"No, it's okay," Rachel said, leaning against him a little. "We'll see if it passes soon." Not likely, but she could hope. "If it doesn't, maybe we can see about escaping a bit early."
|
"Whatever you'd like," Hook agreed. He wasn't exactly having a grand time, but then again, he didn't expect to.
|
"Thanks," Rachel said softly. She just stayed there with him for a little bit, watching everyone else have fun and trying to fight off the headache.
|
Hook just stayed with her. He didn't feel like he was missing out on anything, after all.
But after a while he did look at her. "Do you want to go?" |
Rachel considered it for a moment, and then nodded.
"I think so," she said. She got up. "Let me go and tell Emma and them we're leaving, and see what Tina's plans are. Then we can leave." |
Hook nodded. "I'll wait here, then," he said, watching her go.
Tina kept feeling prickly as Rachel moved around, and tracked her progress while only half thinking about it. She could definitely tell something had happened, although she wasn't sure what. |
Rachel nodded and disappeared into the crowd. It didn't take long to find the Charmings and make her excuses, and it took even less time to find Tina.
"Hey," she said when she found her friend. She blinked once or twice. It was kind of odd, seeing her as both Tina and Thumbelina at the same time. She shook it off. "I think we're going to escape early. I have a massive migraine and I just want to go somewhere quiet for the rest of the night." |
"Yeah, I understand," Tina said, frowning a bit. "Are you sure you're okay? You seem a bit.. different." It wasn't something she could put her finger on, but she knew she was right.
|
"I'll be fine," Rachel replied. "I just want to get away from the party. Are you going to hang around for a while longer?"
|
"Probably not too much longer, my feet hurt," Tina said with a brief grin. "I think I'll see if Gold wants to head back in another half hour or so."
|
"Alright." Rachel gave her friend a hug. "I'll see you later, then."
|
"Yeah, I'll see you soon," Tina agreed, hugging her before letting her go. She was still rather puzzled.
Hook stood when he saw her walking back. |
Rachel made her way back to Hook.
"We can go now," she said. "I want to get out of here, it's too loud and bright." |
