"I want to let you," Rachel said. "Could we maybe postpone it for a while, though? I do kind of still need to take lessons."
|
"I never said I'd kill him," Hook said with a trace of his normal humor. "I doubt it would even keep him down for long."
|
Rachel just rolled her eyes a bit. She wasn't going to fight him all that hard on this one; Gold did kind of deserve it this time. Going over to him, she hugged him and snuggled close.
"I got my memories back the night of the ball," she said softly. "I didn't say anything right away because I needed time to sort through it all, and then I just... wanted to be Rachel for a little while longer." |
Hook settled his arms around her slowly, absorbing the information.
"I sort of understand that," he said, looking at her. "I just don't understand why you wanted to be Rachel still. What difference does it make?" |
"It was comfortable, being Rachel," she replied. "Being able to be someone normal." She blushed a bit. "And I got to know you as Rachel. I guess I didn't want to risk you not liking Rapunzel just as much."
|
"Rachel and Rapunzel aren't that different, I would guess," Hook said with a bit of a shrug. "It seems the curse didn't change the essence of who you are, after all."
|
"I just didn't want to risk you pulling away because a little different was too different," Rachel said. She was quiet. "I remember more magic, now, I have more control again. I might be able to learn that spell Gold used on your ship."
|
Hook was quiet for a few moments. "If you want to," he said. "If you're comfortable with that."
|
"That's just it, I do want to," Rachel said. "Rachel was uncertain about learning magic, but Rapunzel enjoys it. I want to learn these things."
|
Hook nodded. "Whatever you want to do, then."
|
"And you'd be okay with it?" Rachel asked. She grinned a little. "Magic on your ship?"
|
"Well, as long as it's not fireballs," Hook said with a bit of a grin, pulling her closer.
|
"No fireballs on the ship, I promise," Rachel said, cuddling close. "Well. Only to chase off mermaids."
|
"That's not on the ship, it's off the ship," Hook pointed out with a grin. "And I have no objections to that."
|
"Deal," Rachel said, grinning. She hesitated for a moment, and then leaned up, giving him a cautious little kiss.
|
Hook was quick to pull her closer, kissing her a little more firmly.
|
Rachel made a surprise little noise when he pulled her closer, but she quickly relaxed into the kiss. Yes, this was definitely enjoyable.

A few days later, Tina was working on a lesson with Gold, struggling to do what he was telling her to. And then something strange happened.
She felt a pull of magic, centered around Gold, but she got sucked in with it, probably due to proximity. She felt like she was being pulled through rough waters before the sensation stopped and she fell onto the deck of a ship. Hook had just had a very similar experience with Rachel, although his whole ship went along for the ride, making it a bit easier for the two of them. At least they had a vessel on which they went, rather than just getting pulled through. But Hook still hated that and started swearing about magic in general as soon as everything stopped and they were in one place. |
Gold had felt the magic building, but he couldn't do anything in time to stop it. He scowled and grumbled when he was dumped onto the deck of a ship, and he carefully got to his feet with his cane.
Rachel was already up on deck when the magic hit. She wasn't experienced enough yet to recognize it for what it was, so she was caught off-guard when the ship was taken. When it landed, she carefully got up and looked around. |
Hook got to his feet and looked around before he started swearing. He knew that coastline. Knew and feared it.
"Neverland," he said grimly, taking hold of the wheel. Tina grumbled as she got to her feet. "I didn't do that, that was not my fault, this is not my area..." she muttered, rubbing her head where she'd hit it. |
"Neverland?" Rachel asked, looking from Killian to the coast and back again. "I'm guessing from your face that this place is Bad News and we should turn around as fast as the tide will take us."
"No, that wasn't you," Gold replied, holding out a hand to help Tina to her feet. He looked around and made a face when he realized whose ship they were on. "Ah. Well. At least we landed amongst allies." |
"If we could," Hook agreed. "But now that we're here, we can't. No one leaves without permission." His hand tightened on the wheel.
"Don't sound so thrilled," Tina said, grinning briefly as she steadied herself. "I'll start to think you like the pirate." |
"What do you mean?" Rachel asked. She looked around again, and did a double-take when she saw Gold and Tina. "And apparently we have guests."
"I doubt I'll ever like him," Gold replied evenly. "However, for the moment, he is tolerable." |
Hook eyed them for a few moments before he sighed. "This is not going to be pleasant," he muttered.
Tina patted his shoulder before she made her way up to join Rachel and Hook. "Decided to go on vacation too?" she quipped to hide how freaked out she was. |
"Apparently," Rachel said, going over to her friend. "I swear this wasn't my fault. This is so not my division."
Gold didn't even bother greeting the other two; instead, he went over to the railing to look out at the island. He had never wanted to see Neverland again, and yet here he was. |
