Gold walked with her, letting her set the pace. Once they were in the kitchen, however, he briefly let go of her hand to set some water to boil.
"Not even little ones?" Rachel teased. |
Tina set her elbows on the table and rested her head in her hands to finish sorting through everything for now.
"Little ones are the worst because bigger ones follow them," Hook said, his voice dry. But he was grinning. |
Gold let her settle there, pouring her some tea when it was ready.
Rachel couldn't help but laugh a bit and kiss him. "Okay, fine, no dragons," she said. "But we still have to get past whatever is guarding the shiny you want." |
"Thanks," Tina murmured, taking her cup. "You seem quite calm about all of this."
Hook shrugged, unconcerned. "We'll see what it is, first, and act accordingly." |
"Dear, I've known this was likely to happen for some time, now," Gold replied, looking at her. "It... took a little while for me to sort myself out, I admit."
"Do we know what the shiny thing is?" Rachel asked. "Or just that it's shiny and valuable?" |
Tina blinked. "You? You always know what you want."
"Just that it's shiny and valuable," Hook admitted with a grin. |
"Not always," Gold said. He took one of her hands and rubbed the back of it with his thumb gently. "But in this case, I believe I've sorted myself out fine."
Rachel laughed a bit and kissed him. "Then we should go find it so we can figure out what it is," she said. |
Tina shook her head, chuckling a bit. "Well, it's too late for regrets now, you're stuck with me."
Hook grinned. "We should be there soon," he agreed. "And then we can figure everything out." |
"I don't regret one bit of it," Gold said, "believe me on that." He smiled at her. "You do remember what breaks curses, yes?"
Rachel nodded and settled back a bit, just making sure the ship kept itself sailing. |
"Of course I do," Tina said, giving him a mildly reproachful look. "I just didn't expect that." She watched him.
Hook nodded to her when it was time to let the ship glide to a halt. "Here we are," he said cheerfully. "We'll take the rowboat ashore." |
"You became quite dear to me rather quickly," Gold admitted. "It took me a while to identify what exactly I felt, and to admit to myself I was feeling it."
Rachel nodded back and let the ship stop. "Let's go, then," she said, grinning. "I want to explore." |
Tina managed a grin at that. "You always have been stubborn," she said, smiling fondly.
Hook dropped the anchor and waited to make sure the ship was secure before he lowered the rowboat and helped her down. Fortunately he already had some supplies packed up for them in case it took a little while. |
"Indeed," Gold replied. "I can't deny that."
Rachel let him help her into the rowboat once the ship was secure. "This is going to be fun," she commented, grinning. |
Tina snorted and shook her head before leaning in to kiss him again.
Hook grinned. "It should be," he agreed, rowing them ashore. "And if not, we can always head back to the ship again." |
Gold returned the kiss.
"I realize that I am not the type to show affection easily," he commented after the kiss. "But I do try. And I do care about you very much." "Maybe after we explore the island," Rachel said, grinning a bit. "I want to see what's here, even if the shiny ends up not being so great." |
"I know." Tina grinned. "Especially now. I just like occasional reminders. Not daily or anything like that, just once in a while."
"Sounds fair enough," Hook agreed, getting out to finish pulling the rowboat ashore. "We've got all the time we want." |
"I will try," Gold said. He smiled back at her.
"That we do," Rachel said as she got out to help pull the rowboat onto the sand. |
Tina grinned and rewarded him with another quick kiss.
Hook helped settle the rowboat into a good spot before he started walking, making sure Rachel kept up. |
Gold returned the kiss.
"Feeling a little more settled, now?" he asked. Rachel did keep up, fairly easily. "Alright, where did you hear the shiny was?" she asked. "Up on the mountain or something?" |
"Yes," Tina said with a brief grin. "I am. It's nice."
"Part-way up," Hook agreed. "In a cave. It'll take a little hiking to get there, but it shouldn't be too difficult." He glanced back at her, amused. "Still up to the task, love?" |
"Please tell me if there is a particular name you would rather be called," Gold said. "Some do tend to prefer one over the other."
"If I wasn't, I'd go back to the ship," Rachel said, grinning. She caught up to him and kissed him. "You're not getting rid of me that easily." |
Tina shrugged. "Either is fine," she said. "If I develop a preference I'll let you know."
Hook grinned. "Good to know," he said, continuing on towards the mountain. |
"Alright," Gold replied.
Rachel followed, letting him lead the way. |
It took a little while, but Hook eventually found the cave and led the way inside, hoisting a torch he'd made. So far there wasn't anything overly interesting inside.
|
Rachel followed him.
"I can hold the torch, if you like," she said. "Keep you hand free." |
