"Alright. Have fun." Tina grinned. "Don't do anything I wouldn't do."
Rachel snorted and headed off towards town. Wandering around the market for a while sounded good.
By that time, Hook was also at market getting things, along with about half his crew. He paused when he saw Rachel, his eyes narrowing a bit. There was no reason for his chest to hurt at the sight of her, no reason at all. He didn't believe her. He didn't want anything to do with her.
But he still wanted to go to her. |
Rachel happened to catch a glimpse of him as well, and she quickly looked away. It was obvious he still didn't remember; if he did, she was sure he wouldn't be glaring at her like that. It hurt to see that glare, so she quickly packed up her latest purchase and moved to the next stall.
Hook shook himself and went about his business getting supplies for the crew. He kept catching brief glimpses of her while she was shopping and walking around, and he got angrier each time he saw her.
The crew definitely noticed their captain's deteriorating mood, and they began to give him a wide berth. None of them wanted to be the reason Hook lost his temper.
Hook noticed, sort of, but he didn't care. He was too pissed off to care. So he finished his part of getting supplies and headed back towards the ship to calm down.
That was about the point that some unfortunate person managed to bump into Hook.
"Ah, apologies..." the man muttered. |
"Watch where you're going," Hook growled at the man, his eyes narrowing. His fingers twitched and, without waiting for a reply, he stalked off again. He was so far from in the mood for this. People. Any of it.
"Captain?" one of his crew asked cautiously. "Are you sure you're alright?" Something had clearly been bothering the captain lately, ever since he'd rounded the crew up again, and none of them could figure out what had happened.
Hook scrubbed briefly at his hair with his hand, scowling. He was going absolutely mad. Especially with the insane, unreasonable desire to see that girl again. Which made no sense. Because he didn't even know her.
"There's something else I need to do while I'm here." |
The crew member nodded a bit, slightly hesitant.
"You need someone to go with you, Captain? Or are we headin' back to the ship head of you?" |
"You go ahead," Hook said. "I'll be fine on my own for this." In fact, he preferred it that way.
"Aye, Captain." With that, the crew filtered back towards the ship, although a few glanced back at him from time to time.
Rachel, on the other hand, was still in the area, although now a few tables over, looking at some glass baubles. |
Hook hesitated, unsure now where Rachel would be, and swore to himself. So he started walking around to see if he could find some likely fool to get answers from.
And then he spotted her and paused. |
Rachel happened to glance over, and did a slight double-take when she saw him. She watched him carefully, although she didn't approach. She wasn't sure of what kind of reaction she would get if she did, and she didn't want to risk another painful glare or sharp remark.
Hook made up his mind and stalked over to her. He looked at her evenly.
"Explain this to me." He made a vague motion between the two of them. |
"What is there to explain?" Rachel asked carefully, looking at him. "You got cursed to forget, and there's nothing I can do about it until you let me."
Hook shook his head. "No, you did something else," he said, glowering at her but not glaring. "I don't know what, but something."
"I didn't do anything," Rachel said. She looked at him a bit more critically. "Why? What's been happening?"
Hook looked at her for a few moments before he sighed. "I can't get you out of my head," he said, sounding somewhere between angry and desperate.
Rachel paused at that.
"That's nothing I did," she said. She was quiet for a moment. "Let's go get a drink. We'll probably both want one, if I'm going to try to explain things." |
Hook nodded after a moment, motioning for her to lead the way. Which was a bit unusual, but he didn't notice it in particular.
Rachel noticed, but didn't say anything. She just made her way over to the pub, going in and finding a table against the wall. She sat down and waited for him to do the same.
Hook sat across from her, waiting until he had an ale in front of him to prompt her.
"Well? You said something about explaining this." |
