"I spent too much time around magic users," Tina said with a bit of a grin. "Gold said it happens once in a while. I guess I kind of absorbed some magic, but it's more suited to me than for general use."
"That's awesome," Henry said. "I didn't know that could happen."
"Neither did I until it happened." Tina grinned. "It is kind of cool. I just had to learn to control it first."
"That's why Mom and I are here," Henry said, nodding. "Because we've both got magic." Emma having magic made perfect sense to him, anyways: Emma was the product of True Love, after all, there was nothing more magical than that. And if Emma was magic, it stood to reason that he would be as well.
Tina nodded. "Makes sense," she agreed. "Gold's a good person to learn from. And the sooner you two learn, the more control you'll have. That's a good thing."
Henry nodded.
"Yeah," he said, "my dad said the same thing." |
"He's smart, then." Tina smiled a bit and walked over to her apple tree, sitting at the base.
"Why wouldn't he be?" Henry asked as he followed her and sat down too.
"Considering his issue with Gold, it's just a bit surprising." Tina shrugged. "Although the two of them have been better lately."
"They have?" Henry asked, curious. "I don't ever get to see them around each other, I'm usually with my mom back at the castle."
"He's come over a few times," Tina said. "Who knows, maybe now that he knows you two will be coming around he'll come with you."
"I hope so," Henry said. "I hardly get to see him." Neil hardly ever came around to the castle, and it wasn't exactly as if Henry could go off looking for him like he had Emma.
Tina nodded. "I'll mention it to him next time I see him," she promised with a little smile.
"Really?" Henry asked, brightening. "Thanks!" Leaning over, he hugged her around the middle.
Tina laughed a little and hugged him back. "No problem, kid. Always glad to help."
A while later, once arrangements had been made for Emma and Henry to return in a few days for another lesson, Gold went looking for Tina. He wanted to check on her and see how she was doing.
Tina had taken refuge in her garden again, curled up under the apple tree. She still wasn't feeling at her best, but she was feeling better.
Gold found her under the apple tree and walked over to join her.
"You look like you're feeling a bit better," he commented as he carefully sat down. |
"Yeah, a bit," Tina said. "Well enough to be up and about, anyway." She smiled at him and leaned into his side.
"Good to hear," Gold said. "Are you sure you don't want me to take a look? Healing might not be my specialty, but I do know some. Perhaps I could put together something to settle your stomach a bit."
"If I start to feel terrible again, I'll take you up on that," Tina said. "But for now I think I'm okay. Thanks."
Gold nodded and just pulled her a bit closer.
"So, Emma and Henry need teaching in magic," he said. "I'm not sure if it will be a refreshing challenge or a lesson in patience." |
"Probably both," Tina said with a little laugh. "As per usual. Besides, if you need to take a break, you can always say so."
"I'll be fine," Gold said. "You need not worry about me. I'm sure the boy will take to instruction swimmingly." He was sure about that much, at least. It was Emma he wasn't looking forward to.
"Yes, but Miss Swan is another story entirely," Tina said with a knowing grin. "Since she infuriates you on a normal day, I doubt this will be any different."
