"I just... I thought I saw..." Rachel shook her head. "It's almost like remembering a dream, I heard myself, and I swear I heard that pawn broker guy, and..." She trailed off. "I dunno, it felt familiar somehow."
"Familiar how?" Tina was starting to feel a little odd about all this. Her dreams felt oddly familiar too, and if Rachel's little thing was like that... well, it was all too much to be coincidental.
"Familiar like I should remember more of it," Rachel replied. "Like I should know exactly where I remember it from."
"Well crap. I think we've got a problem." Tina sighed. "I've had that feeling too recently. Like I should know more than I do, like I should remember some of these people."
"You too?" Rachel asked. "I thought it was just me." She bit her lip. "I don't know what it is, but I keep feeling like I know so many people here, and it's just... gone."
"Yeah, I know what you mean." Tina shivered briefly. "I keep seeing people, and I think that they should look just a little different, like longer hair and different clothes and stuff. And I swear I know them and then it's just... gone. And they're strangers again."
Rachel nodded.
"I almost want to call them by a different name, but it's like it's at the tip of my tongue and I just can't... grasp it. And then it's all gone again." She was quiet for a moment. "When I looked in the mirror this morning, I thought for a second my hair wasn't as long as it should be." She touched her hair briefly. "It didn't seem right for a moment." |
"Yeah, I know the feeling." Tina shook her head. "It's so weird. I think I might have to go for a walk."
Rachel nodded a bit.
"Be careful," she said. "Call me if it happens to you, alright? I'll let you know if it happens to me again." |
Tina nodded. "I will. Think you'll hang out in the room or will you go to the library?" Because those two places ended up being the places Rachel frequented the most now.
"I'm not sure," Rachel said. "I might walk around a bit and see what happens. I'll let you know where I end up."
"Alright." Tina looked at her for a few moments before she headed off for a walk around town. She figured it might help to clear her head.
When Tina started to walk off, Rachel turned and went in a different direction. She needed to clear her head, as well, and she'd heard something about the docks being a quiet place to think. So she made her way down to the shore to see what she could find.
Hook was there as well tending to his ship and making sure all was well. He did, however, smirk when he noticed Rachel wandering about all on her own, and he headed over towards her.
"Well, well. Out for a stroll, I see." |
Rachel jumped a bit when she heard him. She'd been so wrapped up in her thoughts she hadn't noticed that she had wandered by the ship. Her brain paused for a moment to process that there was a pirate ship at the dock.
"Yeah," she said after a moment. "Just trying to clear my head a bit." |
"Too much to think about?" Hook asked sympathetically. "Might want to keep away from the docks, then, love, if you still don't believe me."
"I have no idea what you're talking about," Rachel said. "You don't even know what it is I'm trying to pick through."
"No, but I do know that last we spoke you didn't believe me, and I'm sure that doesn't help with trying to sort through whatever it is that's going through your pretty little head." Hook shrugged, spreading his arms. "Really, love, it's not hard to see that something's got you in a knot."
Rachel didn't immediately reply. He was right about one thing, at least: her head was in a knot, and he wasn't helping much.
"I was told the docks were a good place to sit and think," she said finally. "I guess I'll have to find somewhere else." |
"If you want to sit and think, please, be my guest." Hook shrugged again. "I'll not bother you, if that's what you want."
"No, no," Rachel said, "I can find somewhere else so you can keep playing pirate and I can figure out when exactly I would have been in a tower for any reason." As soon as the words were out of her mouth, she wanted to take them back. They were a bit more scathing and cutting than she really wanted, and she hadn't really intended to tell anyone but Tina what had gotten her head so tangled up.
"Ah," Hook said with a grin. "A tower, is it? Well, then." That made things much more interesting. Apparently the curse was weakening for the two newest members of Storybrooke. That was very interesting indeed.
"What do you know about it?" Rachel asked warily. He seemed to know more than he was letting on.
"Oh, just some things. I'm sure you'll find out for yourself soon. I wouldn't worry about it too much, love." Hook smirked, going to find a spot to sit comfortably.
"So much for being helpful," Rachel grumbled as she walked to the opposite end of the docks to sit down and try to think.
