Henry blinked but took the lizard automatically, looking it over. "Really? You're just giving it to me?" he asked, surprised but pleased.
"It followed us and wouldn't leave us alone," Rachel said. "And I don't want to keep it. So it's all yours, if you want it. Take good care of it."
"Okay." Henry grinned as he tried to get the fire lizard to settle on his shoulders, already figuring out how it worked.
"I'm going to go keel over for a while now," Rachel said. She waved to Henry and then headed into the captain's quarters, setting her bag down gently by the foot of the bed. It had the dragon egg carefully packed inside, and she was going to leave it in the bag until they got back to port.
Hook had already changed into comfortable clothes and flopped over. He lifted his head when she came in but did nothing else.
Rachel changed into something comfortable as well, and went to settle in with him. She sighed and went boneless once she managed to get comfortable.
"We are never doing that again," Hook muttered as vehemently as he could. Which was almost not at all right then. "Never. Again."
"It wasn't that bad," Rachel murmured as she snuggled closer to him. "I'll even magic you up a new hook once we make port again and I can get my hands on some good steel."
Hook chuckled. "That would be appreciated," he agreed mildly. "For now, we can rest."
"Mmm," Rachel agreed. She snuggled closer, tucking herself into his arms. She just lay there quietly with him for a little while.
"Maybe, once we make port and drop the dragon egg off, we could slip away for a bit, just the two of us?" she suggested quietly after a little bit. |
"Sounds amenable to me," Hook agreed easily. "The crew would like some shore leave, I'm sure." He grinned a bit.
"I'm sure they would," Rachel agreed. She gave him a small kiss. "That sounds like a good plan to me, then."
"Once we get back," Hook promised. "For now, sleep." He settled in a bit closer to her.
"Sleep sounds good," Rachel agreed, snuggling in and closing her eyes. It didn't take her long to drift off.
Hook didn't wake up for a while longer. And then he headed up top to steer them into dock again.
Rachel got up a little after Hook did, and took her time getting ready. She could hear the crew scurrying about, and figured they were getting into port again. That was just fine with her; she could pack a bag for herself that would tide her over for a few days, and be ready to go once the ship was properly docked.
It didn't take much longer to get the ship settled, and then Hook told the crew they had a week shore leave. It would take that long to give the blasted dragon egg to the crocodile and Tina, and then have a few days with Rachel, after all.
Rachel could tell the crew was glad to have the week's leave, even as she noticed a couple of them sending suggestive glances at Killian. She ignored them, in favor of checking to make sure she had everything and that Henry had everything. It was time to hand him back over to his parents and guardians, after all.
Hook was the last off the ship, especially since he knew that Rachel had Henry well in hand.
"Well, I suppose we should go deliver some packages," he said, his voice light. |
"I suppose we should," Rachel agreed, grinning. She looked over at Henry. "Keep track of your lizard, make sure it doesn't wander off."
"Okay." Henry grinned, walking after them.
Hook just walked quietly with Rachel for now, content to let the silence stretch. |
Rachel enjoyed the quiet for a little while. It was nice, after the barely controlled chaos of the dragon island. She couldn't help but grin a bit when they got close enough for Gold's outermost wards to ping against the three of them.
"So, when should we expect the cavalry?" Hook asked, not long after they crossed the wards. Because he would be kind of surprised if people didn't come looking now.
"Considering that Henry is with us," Rachel mused, "Probably pretty soon." She glanced around, waiting to see who would come out first.
Emma found them first, not very surprisingly.
"Henry!" She ended up running over to them. "There you are, kid. Where have you been?" She pulled Henry into a hug. |
