"If you're asking me out, no thank you," Rachel said. "Now I've got to go."

Hook just grinned and watched her go. He'd make sure they had another chance to talk, even if he did have to get himself thrown in jail overnight again. Really, it wasn't so bad anyway.

Really, Gold should have known better than to let Tina drag him out of his shop. He had been perfectly content to stay in his shop and away from the rest of the town, but he had been oddly unable to refuse when Tina asked him to go with her.

Tina had managed to find a perfect spot, just like she'd told Rachel, and it was an easy walk out there, it just took some time. As soon as it started to get dark, she paused and pulled flashlights out of her backpack, handing one over to Gold.

"Don't lose that," she mock-ordered, although she was trying too hard not to grin to really pull it off.

"Tina," Gold said as he took the flashlight, "I did tell you that I'm not really one for hiking, yes?"

"Don't be a wimp, we're more than half way there," Tina said, flicking her flashlight on and shifting the backpack. "Besides, I found a nice almost completely flat trail for you with no low branches or big rocks. This is about the easiest hike I've ever done."

"Why are we out here?" Gold asked as he worked to keep up with her. He wasn't lying when he said that he wasn't good at hiking.

Tina slowed down a bit and then stopped in the little clearing. "Because it's quiet and pretty and there aren't people." She shot him a sideways glance. "And yes I know the town doesn't like you much. I have noticed that much."

Gold shrugged a little. Not much he could do about the town not liking him, really. He was the Dark One and had done 'business' with just about everyone and then some.

Tina shook her head briefly before setting down the backpack, laying out a blanket quickly and flopping over on it, not very gracefully.

"Besides, I bribed you with home-cooked food." She grinned up at him, dragging the backpack over to her and pulling out dinner. "You just couldn't say no."

"Indeed," Gold replied, carefully lowering himself onto the blanket. It wasn't the easiest thing in the world, with his leg, but he managed.

Tina put both flashlights off to the side for the moment, digging around in her bag some more to produce two more blankets, utensils, and a camping lantern, which she flipped on and placed between them.

"See, not so bad now, is it?" She grinned at him.

Gold just looked at the lantern for a moment, then lifted one of his hands and created several small glowing lights around them.

"Now it's better," he said, smiling just slightly.

Tina's eyes widened and after a moment she reached over to poke one of the little lights.

"Wow. Okay, I'm impressed."

"Just a little magic," Gold said, watching her poke at the lights.

"Still awesome." Tina poked at the lights a little more before she shook herself and pushed a container over to him. "It should still be warm. If not I can manage something."

Tina grinned and settled in for a while, eating her dinner before stretching and looking over at him again.

"I take it you don't do things like this very often."

"Oh yes. All the time. Of course, I also spent a few years rescuing lost hikers in Yellowstone." Tina rolled her eyes. "It's amazing how many people got lost making the simplest of mistakes."

"Rescuing hikers?" Gold asked raising an eyebrow. "I wouldn't think you would have wanted to be in the public eye like that, all things considered."

"It wasn't too public. I mean, Yellowstone is across Montana and Wyoming, you can drive down the interstates through those states and not see anyone else on the road for fifty miles." Tina shrugged. "Besides, it was kind of fun seeing how badly people could screw up."

"Even still," Gold said. "I'm certain none of the people you rescued had any inkling of your... unique situation. I would have thought the curse would have tried to keep it that way."

Tina shrugged. "I have no idea," she said honestly. "I was only there for four years, I think."

"I see," Gold replied, thinking. "And I assume you moved on after those four years, yes? And again and again?"
