"And I would rather like to keep it that way," Gold replied with a bit of a grin. "It would be more than unpleasant to be hit with that."
|
Tina snickered. "No kidding. I could break your arm with this thing." Which she knew from experience, but there was no need to mention that little detail to him.
|
"I don't doubt it," Gold replied. Luckily for him, he was able to heal things like that easily. Magic was good for that.
|
Tina ended up staying up all night, getting Gold up and moving again almost an hour before dawn so they had plenty of time to get back to town. She did, however, take her sweet time heading back, both to make it easier for Gold and to make sure they didn't stumble on any critters.
"See, back in time for you to take a nap before lunch," she teased with a grin when they stepped back into town proper. |
"Indeed," Gold said, smiling slightly. "Although I will say it was an enjoyable trip."
|
"Good. I'm glad you enjoyed it." Because for a while Tina had been worried that he hadn't enjoyed the trip. "I should let you get some sleep. I'll see you at lunch?"
|
Gold nodded.
"Of course," he said. |
Tina grinned and nodded, heading back to the apartment so she could change and take a quick shower before work. Because she could easily go the rest of the day and then just go to bed early.
|
Rachel, on the other hand, was already at work. She had gone in a little early so that she would be able to head to the diner for lunch, and was already well into her organizing for the day.
|
Emma was also in early, for less than pleasant reasons. She glanced at Rachel as she went into her office, grabbing her badge and gun and things.
"If anyone calls for me or calls about Robert, let me know," she said, putting a post-it with her cell number on Rachel's desk. |
Rachel blinked, but nodded.
"Of course," she said. She was curious, but she figured she'd find out anyways if the paperwork passed her desk. |
"Thanks." Emma left again to go help David search for the guy.
|
A couple hours later, Gold looked up when the door of his shop opened. It was a little early for Tina to be back, but it wasn't impossible for it to be her.
|
Emma walked over to him, David and Mary Margaret close behind.
"Gold," she said evenly. "You wouldn't happen to know what happened to Robert would you?" Red had found the body less than an hour ago, and they were still trying to keep the townsfolk from freaking out. |
Gold looked at the three of them.
"I wasn't aware the town had gained two more sheriffs," he commented. "And to answer your question, Sheriff Swan, I'm sure I don't know what you're talking about." |
"Really? So you don't know how he ended up dead behind your shop?" Emma's eyes narrowed a little.
|
"He's dead?" Gold asked. He shook his head. "No, I assure you, Sheriff, that I have no idea what is going on."
|
Emma half-turned when she heard an angry group outside. "Damn," she swore quietly. "Mary Margaret, go see if you can talk them down."
Tina had seen the group go past too, and she hurried outside to go see what was going on. When she saw them stop in front of Gold's shop, she ran over and made her way in the back, glancing around at the others. "What's going on?" |
Snow nodded and headed outside to see what she could do.
"It's nothing, Tina," Gold replied, holding up a hand. "Wait for me outside, alright?" |
"An angry mob waiting outside your door is nothing?" Tina asked incredulously, raising her eyebrows. "I don't think so. You wait in here."
Emma blinked twice, surprised, but didn't say anything. Yet. |
"Tina, really," Gold said, looking at her. "It's nothing. Please, wait in my office."
|
Tina shook her head stubbornly, though she did pale just a little when yelling started outside. Not that she was going to back off now, though.
"Why are they pissed off at you?" |
"Tina, now isn't the time," Gold said, glancing from her to Emma and back.
|
"Someone showed up dead behind his shop." Emma looked at Gold, still only mostly sure that he hadn't done it.
"When?" Tina looked at her, calm and business-like. "About an hour ago. He'd been dead since sometime in the middle of the night, though." "Then Gold didn't do it." Tina crossed her arms over her chest. |
"How do you know that?" Emma asked, looking at Tina. "Do you even know who he is? What he's capable of?"
