"Feel a little better?" Rachel asked once Tina took the pie out of the oven.
"Yup." Tina grinned, setting the pie off to the side to cool some. "Now in ten minutes or so we'll have still-warm homemade apple pie and homemade ice cream to go with it."
"Awesome," Rachel replied.
Tina portioned them out pie and ice cream and then went over to plop herself on the couch, decidedly not sulking now.
Rachel was glad her friend was feeling better, but she still made a mental note to go drop in on Gold the next day. They needed to have some words.
Tina stretched briefly once they were done with dessert. "I'm going to go take a shower and lay in bed and read for a while," she said. Because hopefully that would let her sleep tonight. "Need anything before I vanish?"
"Nope, go relax," Rachel said. "All's quiet, so we're good."
Tina nodded and went to go vanish for the night.
At least she no longer had the mad urge to bake more the next day. |
Rachel, on the other hand, made good on her mental note to pay Gold a visit, and made her way to the pawn shop.
Tina sent her along with a package of cookies, as she'd been ordered to get rid of at least 75% of the sweets in the house or they were all going to be dumped in her room. Needless to say, she made a trip down to Granny's to drop off things.
Red grinned when she noticed Tina come in.
"Hey," she said, "haven't seen you in a few days." "Gold?" Rachel called once she got into the pawn shop. Gold came out of the back room when he heard the door open. "Ah, Rapunzel," Gold said, "what a pleasant surprise. To what do I owe the honor?" "You need to go and apologize to Tina," Rachel said. "Excuse me?" Gold asked, eyebrows going up. "You heard me," Rachel replied. "Dearie, you may not remember, but--" "Damn it, Rumplestiltskin!" Rachel burst out. "I don't care who or what we were before, this is here and now and you have no right to upset my friend, so go and apologize to her." |
"Yeah, I've been a bit preoccupied." Tina smiled shyly as she hefted the bags onto the counter. "But I brought some goodies. I kind of went on a baking binge and Rachel threatened to put everything in my room if I didn't get rid of most of it, so I thought maybe you could sell it here or something?"
Red blinked.
"Whoa, that's some baking binge," she said, looking at the bags. "Yeah, you'll want to talk to Granny about that." She gestured over near the register. |
"Granny," Tina said, sidling over to the register and sliding the bags with her. "I'm not trying to step on any toes, but I went on a baking binge and I need to get rid of all this before Rachel dumps it all over my bed." She gave Granny a pleading look.
Granny raised an eyebrow and looked int he bags.
"You made all of this?" she asked. "In one night?" |
"Friday night and all day yesterday," Tina said, turning pink. "Think you could help me out? I swear they're all fine and safe, Rachel and I tested everything, and the only ones with nuts are pretty obvious so allergies shouldn't be a problem, and I don't want anything for them..." She trailed off, turning even more red.
"Oh I'll pay you for 'em," Granny said, looking at the pastries. "In fact, if you want to keep making them, I'll pay you for every batch you bring us." Because yes, Granny was impressed.
"...Really?" Tina blinked. She hadn't been expecting that. "Um. Is there anything in particular you want me to make more of? I mean, I know you bake, Red told me you have some really great recipes, and I just, I don't want to step on any toes, and oh god I'm rambling, this is why I should never be allowed around people."
"Tina, I usually have my hands full with this place, so whatever you want to bring us is welcome," Granny replied.
Tina grinned. "You just gave me a reason to bake whatever I want," she pointed out. "I'll give this batch a few days and then I'll start bringing stuff in again. That okay?"
"Fine with me," Granny replied.
Tina grinned. "Great. I'll see you in a few days, then." She waved cheerily and headed back to the apartment.
Rachel was waiting for her when she got there.
"How did it go?" She asked. "Did the treats go over well?" |
"Yeah. Granny said she'd take whatever goodies I wanted to bring in and she'd pay me for them." Tina grinned. "I just got an excuse to bake whenever I want."
"Awesome," Rachel replied. "So I went and talked to Gold. I kind of exploded at him, used his other name and everything. I didn't even know I knew his other name."
