Hook arrived after she'd been home for an hour, having been sure to give her plenty of time to get home and do anything she needed to do first. He knocked and waited.
To her credit, Rachel didn't hesitate long before she opened the door.
"Come on in," she said, stepping aside. |
Hook nodded and stepped inside, glancing around quickly before turning his attention to her again.
"No roommate tonight?" he asked. Because of course he was well aware that she and Tina were living together. |
"No, Tina's out for the evening," Rachel replied. She wasn't about to tell him where Tina was, though.
Hook nodded, satisfied with that answer, and glanced around with a little grin. "Looks comfortable," he said. He didn't have so many things, but then it was harder on a ship when you had to make sure everything could be tied down.
"Worlds better than a tower with no doors," Rachel replied as she closed the door behind him.
"I can imagine, although I think I prefer my ship," Hook said, glancing around again.
"You say that as if I should be surprised," Rachel said, going over to the TV and setting up the DVD player.
Hook laughed quietly. "I guess you shouldn't be," he admitted. "I am still adjusting to this world."
"Well, you're not the only one trying to adjust," Rachel said. "Now pick which movie to start first, pick the pastries you want, and sit down."
"We'll start with Pirates," Hook said with a grin, looking over the selection before picking a cookie and going to sit on the couch.
Rachel nodded and popped in the disk, starting the movie. Then she grabbed a cinnamon roll and sat down.
Hook made snarky comments throughout the movie, especially at the points that he disagreed with.
Rachel, as much as she didn't want to, kept snickering and giggling. Hook was really very clever, and his comments were equally so. She couldn't help herself.
Hook was very pleased with himself, grinning and keeping up the witty comments. Hey, it was fun and he liked how he was effecting Rachel.
Rachel didn't notice until the end of the movie how close she'd settled to Hook. She jumped slightly when she realized it and moved to the other end of the couch, blushing a bit.
Hook managed to be tactful and not comment, though he did smile faintly as he got up to change the movie.
While he changed the movie, Rachel got up to get herself another pastry. This time, she grabbed a plate of comfort cookies and just brought the whole thing back to the couch.
"Those are good," Hook said, settling next to her again as the movie started. "I admit I'm surprised."
"What, the cookies?" Rachel said. She shrugged. "Tina. She likes to bake. Comfort cookies are sort of a specialty."
"Ah." Hook smiled faintly. "Good roommate." He settled back to watch the movie.
"It's nice to have someone like her," Rachel agreed softly. "Especially having spent one life in a tower and another frozen in time." Settling in, she hit play on the movie. "Now. Another Johnny Depp movie. Depp plays Willy Wonka."
"Willy Wonka?" Hook blinked at her. "Will that be explained during the movie?"
"For the most part," Rachel replied. "The movie is based off of a book, called Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, hence the same title for the movie. Wonka is the character who owns the chocolate factory. You'll see."
"Alright." Hook settled back to watch the movie, curious. He didn't even mind the comment throughout the movie.
