"Well, I can't very well be predictable, can I?" Gold asked. Inwardly, he was a little surprised at himself, for what he was allowing her to get away with, and at how very little he seemed to mind.
|
Tina laughed again, relaxing there. "There's nothing wrong with being a little bit predictable," she said.
|
"I may have to disagree with you on that," Gold said, although he was more a statement than an argument.
|
Tina just grinned, content to leave it at that, and then paused.
"Do you mind if I make us breakfast? Or lunch, or whatever meal is most convenient. I get it if you don't, I just thought that was since I'm already here I could cook for us." She shrugged, a little awkwardly now. |
Gold nodded a bit.
"If you like," he said. "The kitchen should have whatever you need." |
Tina nodded and shot him a grin, tempted to hug him. But she resisted, instead bouncing up off the couch and going to find the kitchen to make food.
And hopefully she could ignore the way she felt so comfortable in his house. |
Gold followed at a more sedate pace, setting the living room back to rights with magic and then going into the kitchen to watch Tina work.
|
Tina worked quietly but cheerfully, making food for both of them after a bit of rummaging around, and then setting plates on the table.
"Your kitchen is surprisingly well stocked," she noted idly, glancing over at him before flipping a pancake. |
"I found that I've acquired a taste for the finer things in life," Gold replied with a bit of a grin.
|
Tina snorted. "Well, pancakes are going to have to be good enough this morning, buddy," she said, shooting him a grin.
|
"They'll be fine," Gold replied. Sitting on a chair at the counter, leaned his cane against the counter and watched her.
|
Tina couldn't help but show off a little since he was there, flipping the pancakes and then flipping them onto a plate once they were cooked. After a few minutes, she set the stack in the middle of the table.
"Want anything with them?" |
"I believe there are some fresh strawberries in the refrigerator," Gold mentioned. "You're welcome to them, if you'd like."
|
Tina nodded and plucked out the strawberries, cutting them swiftly and dumping them in a bowl before putting the bowl on the table too.
"There. Now we're ready." |
Getting up, Gold went over to the table. He gestured to the meal.
"Ladies first," he said. |
Tina snorted at that but sat down and snagged a few pancakes and some strawberries.
"So, I haven't managed to annoy you enough to run me off yet," she noted, looking at him with a little grin. |
"You, my dear, are nowhere near annoying," Gold replied as he took a couple of pancakes and some strawberries as well. "And if you were, I wouldn't bother running you off." Those who annoyed Gold tended not to live long enough to do it again.
|
That made Tina smile, and she relaxed a little more.
"Better be careful or you won't be able to get rid of me," she teased. |
Gold just smiled a little. If he'd wanted to be rid of her, he would have been rid of her, although he wouldn't admit out loud yet that he rather liked having her around.
|
Tina noticed his lack of response and decided against teasing him further, just finishing her breakfast quietly before going to clean up.
|
Later on that day, Rachel found herself heading towards the diner. She had a lunch date with a pirate, and she was actually kind of looking forward to it. After several minutes of debating with herself, she had decided to put on the medallion he'd given her, and she wondered if he would notice.
|
Hook was already there, sitting at a table sipping at a cup of coffee. It may have been after noon, but coffee was acceptable any time of day. He didn't notice her come in, though, absorbed in thoughts of what he still needed to do.
|
Rachel saw him and hesitated slightly, then went over to him.
"Killian?" |
Hook blinked and looked up at her and grinned. "Hello, love. I got here a bit early, it seems." He motioned to the seat across from his, eyeing the gold chain rather smugly.
|
"Seems so," Rachel agreed, taking a seat. "You weren't waiting long, were you?" She blushed slightly when she realized he had noticed the chain.
