Coulson smiled faintly. "We like to be thorough," he said mildly. "I believe that is all for the moment, you should be ready to go. I expect on Monday morning you'll be at the Tower working."
"Does Stark know about this?" Julie looked at Coulson, curious. |
"It was Mr. Stark's idea, Ms. Stone," Coulson replied.
"Wait," Maeve said, "it was his idea for all this?" |
Julie shook her head. "Either he was bored or we impressed him somehow. Or possibly both."
Coulson smiled faintly. "I don't pretend to know Mr. Stark's reasoning." Although secretly he thought they had amused Stark enough that he wanted to keep them around, since that tended to be how he worked. |
"Maybe we can ask him," Maeve mused. "He hangs around the testing rooms enough, it's not like he's hard to find."
"No kidding." Julie shrugged and looked at Coulson again. "Is there anything else?"
"I believe that will be sufficient for the moment. I'll see you Monday morning." Coulson nodded to both of them, already hailing someone to grab a helicopter to take the girls back down to Stark Tower. He could load them on a Quinjet, but he figured that might be a bit much for them still. |
Maeve nodded. As she and Julie got into the helicopter, she looked at her friend.
"That really just happened, didn't it?" she asked. "We just joined one of the most secret government agencies in the known world." |
"Yes, I believe we just did." Julie blinked, still a little shocked herself. "And we're going to be working SI full time now too."
"That's every intern's dream," Maeve said. "And it was just handed to us." She paused. "I don't have enough TM work for that. I only get maybe three new ones a week, and half the time they're updated repeats."
"Maybe they'll have us doing other things too?" Julie guessed with a shrug. "I'm sure we'll find something to do to keep ourselves out of trouble."
"I hope so," Maeve said. She grinned a bit. "Although it wouldn't be too bad every once in a while to get paid for just sitting around. Although I do like my work with TMs, it's kind of fun knowing which pokemon can learn them."
Julie snorted. "Yeah, and you love recommending TMs to people, too," she pointed out.
"Yes I do," Maeve agreed shamelessly. "Do you have any idea how many people have come to the TM department asking for something 'unusual'?" She grinned. "I especially liked the guy from legal who came down with his Persian. You should have seen his face when I told him he could take his pick from just about any element type and that Persians typically had an easy time with electric-type TMs."
"Oh that must have been great," Julie said with a grin. "You know, knowing Tony, he probably has video of that somewhere."
"We'll have to ask," Maeve said. "But it really was great. The poor guy looked like someone had smacked him with a Magikarp or something. Although is Persian did leave knowing Thunderbolt and Aerial Ace."
Julie snickered. "Yeah, I bet. His Persian was probably very pleased. You know, I'd be kind of tempted to get a Meowth, but I hear they can be kind of bratty."
"What about a Skitty?" Maeve suggested. "They're usually pretty sweet-tempered, aren't they?"
"I think so. I definitely wouldn't mind one of those. Although really I would just love a Vulpix. And yes I know they can be bratty too, but still." Julie sighed. "Maybe one day."
"I'm sure we'll be able to get you a Vulpix eventually," Maeve said. "Someone has to know where to find them, right? We just have to ask around."
"Yeah. Hey, maybe Tony knows. I mean, he does have that Ninetails, so maybe he knows where I can get a Vulpix?" Julie shrugged rather hopefully. It was worth a shot, at least.
"The Ninetails wasn't originally his," Maeve pointed out. "He mentioned something about Ninetails doing PR appearances when Tony was still a kid. Maybe it belonged to his parents or something. Still worth a shot, though."
"Hey, I'd guess he'd be the one to ask. Or maybe Miss Potts would be a better choice?" Julie shrugged. "We'll figure it out later."
"Since we'll have time to track them down now," Maeve said. She stretched a bit. "So now what? The rest of the day is free."
"Over to the park, maybe?" Julie shrugged. "Ice cream sounds good right now, and we can figure things out from there."
"Sure," Maeve said. Grinning, she adjusted her bag on her shoulder, put her new ID badge into it, and headed in the direction of the park.
Julie walked with her to the park before going to find an ice cream place. She even picked up a few pokemon treats along the way, because her two had been well behaved up in the helicarrier. Thank goodness for small favors.
