Nat smirked, and Clint snickered at the pair of them before he went to go scavenge. Tony finally stirred, grumbling something about loud people.
"Sorry," Maeve murmured to Tony when she heard him grumbling. "Go on back to sleep, we won't bother you anymore."
"'s fine," Tony slurred, blinking slowly, still half asleep. "Shouldn't be sleeping at this hour anyway."
"You can sleep as long as you want to, it's your tower," Maeve pointed out. "Go on, go back to sleep for a bit longer. You looked comfortable."
Tony grumbled at that. Until Ninetails came over and settled his head on the couch. Then Tony sighed and resettled himself.
Maeve smiled at that and resettled herself as well, turning half of her attention back to the tablet. The other half of her attention stayed on Tony.
Tony finally did actually get up a couple hours later, going straight for the coffee machine and looking only vaguely awake for a while.
By that time, Maeve had gotten herself caught up on world events, and was working on tracking down her wayward asset.
"Bring me a cup too?" she called after Tony. She knew he was going to get coffee. |
Tony grumbled his assent and brought back two cups, one made how she preferred. He set it down within reach of her and went back to his chair, grabbing a tablet and settling in to check on some things.
"Thanks," Maeve said as she reached for the cup. She took a sip and sighed. "Perfect, thank you."
Tony nodded, browsing through his things he was keeping track of. He made a brief noise of interest.
"Oh look, Cap's back on this continent again." |
"Really?" Maeve asked, looking interested. "Does he have Julie with him? Because I still can't pin her down."
"Not as far as I know," Tony said with a shrug. "Last I heard, he was running off all over the world with some guy he picked up in DC, but no Julie."
"Great, someone else to worry about," Maeve muttered. She turned back to her tablet and kept tapping around. She needed to track down Julie and touch base.
"Want some help?" Tony asked, peering over at her. "Tracking down Julie, I'm guessing, not kicking Cap's ass for being a stubborn moron."
"I mean, at this point I'm not certain which is more appealing," Maeve admitted, glancing up at him. "But I do need to find Julie and make sure she's doing alright."
"Done and done." Tony grinned at her and went to work on the tablet to start tracking down Julie. He did, however, make plans in the back of his mind to make sure Maeve got a chance to get a swing at Cap, just in case.
A while later, Maeve got up and stretched.
"I think it's about time I put my team through their paces again," she said, setting down her tablet. "I'm going to go see if I can find someone willing to go a round or two with me." She grinned. "Sometimes it's not easy to find someone willing to take on a Gardevoir and a Chandelure." |
"You'll find someone in the tower," Tony told her. "Pepper maybe if no one else will. Or maybe Clint, he's been bored recently."
"Maybe Clint, that could be fun," Maeve said. She glanced at him. "I half expected you to volunteer, your Lucario likes battling, doesn't she?"
"Yup," Tony agreed, glancing at her. "But I'm still finding your wayward agent."
"Thanks, for that," Maeve said. "You've got the best chance of finding her, with everything you're able to get into. I hardly know where to start, she could be anywhere. I owe you."
"Don't worry about it," Tony said with a quick little shake of his head. "Once Cap arrives, you work on wrangling him and we'll call it even. He doesn't listen to me very well." He shot her a quick grin. "Something about 'reckless' and 'you have no room to talk Stark' and so on."
"Well, he's not wrong," Maeve said, giving a teasing grin. "And I know he doesn't listen well, but I'm still going to try."
Tony snorted quietly. "Uh huh. I'm looking forward to seeing that. Should be very entertaining."
