Maeve had to admit, she was kind of impressed by the workshop. Not even SHIELD had toys this nice. She glanced around, looking for somewhere safe to sit, and she ended up perched on a bit of open table space. Chandellure floated around, exploring.
Tony gave her free range for the moment, since she was staying out of the way, and he went back to working on the suit. Which was basically a smaller version of the Iron Man suit.
Maeve watched, curious.
"Okay, I'll bite," she said, "what's that for?" |
"For Rotom. I told him he could jump into anything up here that I'm not using, but he gets bored and floats around. So I'm making him his own suit so he can explore and use it all the time." Tony grinned briefly. "If he likes it, I might see about making more."
Maeve blinked.
"I'm not sure if that's ingenious or encouraging a bad habit," she said after a moment. "Maybe a bit of both." |
"Maybe," Tony admitted. "But if he has his own suit he'll probably be less likely to go jump around the computers and bother the techs." He paused for a moment before he grinned. "Besides, it's a fun challenge."
"'Might' being the key word, there," Maeve pointed out, grinning a bit. "You pretty much gave him free reign of SI when you told him 'anything you weren't using.' It's physically impossible to be using all of SI all the time."
"I wouldn't mind if he weren't jumping into computers that techs were using." Tony shrugged. "We're working on laying down actual rules now."
Maeve just grinned.
"Ghost-types are like that," she said. "As a whole, I think. But it makes them fun to train." |
"It does indeed," Tony said with a grin. "Besides, it's a decent challenge." He rolled his shoulders before going back to work.
"Get yourself a Haunter and say that again," Maeve teased. "My mother has a Gengar, and I'm so glad I learned how to handle ghost-types that way before I got Litwick."
Tony snickered. "There are a few other ghost-types around here that belong to employees," he pointed out. "I do have to deal with them on occasion."
"Yeah, but you can foist them back off on their people when you get bored or annoyed or distracted," Maeve pointed out. She snickered. "Can you imagine having Rotom in the same room as a Gastly or a Haunter for any long period of time?"
"Yes," Tony said dryly. "It's now on the list of Things Pepper Potts No Longer Allows in Stark Tower."
Maeve tried. She really did. She bit her lip so hard she thought it might bleed.
She still couldn't help bursting into laughter. |
Tony just rolled his eyes and went back to work, waving her back a bit when he had to start sautering things.
Maeve obediently backed up some when he started soldering, but Chandellure drifted in close. Hey, technically it involved fire, he was interested.
Tony just grinned, knowing the pokemon would be okay, and kept putting pieces together.
When he came to a pausing point, he flipped the mask up again. "So when did you say your friend's birthday is?" |
"About a month," Maeve replied. She looked at him curiously. "Why?"
"Hmm, that's too long," Tony said, tapping his chin. "Ah, well, I've got two years of catching up to do, that will work well enough as a reason."
"What are you planning?" Maeve asked. "Tell me~! I'm curious. And I'm her handler, so you may have to tell me anyways."
"You'll find out before you go home tonight," Tony said, pulling up something on a pad and looking at it for a minute. "We'll go back upstairs before you two leave; she's still with Clint and Thor."
"But that doesn't tell me what's going on now," Maeve pointed out.
Tony just grinned. "You'll find out," he said again. He flipped the shield back down and started working again.
"Well, that's not fair," Maeve said, making a face. Chandellure floated behind her, making the same face.
