When Maeve got to her testing lab, she found a note telling her to head up to the main R&D space. She knew Julie had been made into essentially the R&D gofer, so she was curious why she was supposed to go up there, too.

Tony was up there too for once, gathering up a few things so he could go back to testing. Including Maeve, once she got there.

"Oh good," he said, grinning. "Come on, I need you and your pokemon to come with me."

Maeve blinked when she was immediately pulled over.

"Alright," she said, "what are we doing?"

"More testing," Tony said with a grin. "I need Chandelure this time, and I figured you might want to stick around and watch."

"Do you need Chandellure as a fire-type or as a ghost-type?" Maeve asked as she followed him. "I'm guessing as a fire-type, since you have Rotom for ghost-testing."

"Sort of both," Tony said with a shrug. "I have a new cell I'm developing for SHIELD so I need Chandelure to do whatever it can to break the cell."

Maeve blinked.

"That sounds fun," she said. "This should be interesting, then."

"It should indeed." Tony grinned and pushed them into a room with a dozen prototypes of the cell. "Test them one at a time so I can note what breaks them."

"Chandelure only has three elemental moves," Maeve warned. "And one normal-type move. Gardevoir has a few others, though."

"Hey, that'll work," Tony said with a shrug. "Have at 'em." He moved out of the way so the pokemon could start testing.

Maeve nodded and let Chandelure out. After a few quick instructions, Chandelure went into the first chamber. He tried to just phase out of it, first. When that didn't work, he started going through his attacks one at a time, starting with Shadow Ball. If that didn't work, he would go through Hyper Beam, Energy Ball, and Inferno one by one.

Tony watched the results, smirking faintly. Yeah, this one was definitely better than his last design, although it could still use a few tweaks. He did want it to survive danger zones, after all.

The first test cell was decidedly battered after Chandelure threw everything at it, but it was still standing. So Maeve waved Gardevoir into it, and the cell collapsed after the the first round of Psychic, Magical Leaf, and Focus Blast.

Tony nodded his satisfaction. "Alright, let's start with Gardevoir on the next one," he said. "I want to see what the difference is in the type of attack on the cell."

Plus it gave Maeve an excuse to hang around longer.

"Alright," Maeve said. "Her attacks are psychic, fighting, and grass right now. Her last one is Protect, which I figure isn't helpful here."

"Not at the moment," Tony agreed. "Go ahead and start with Psychic, if you will, and we'll see how long it lasts under her set of attacks."

Maeve nodded and gestured to Gardevoir. The cell managed to hold up under Psychic and Magical Leaf, but Focus Blast made it collapse.

"Alright, so extended, continual attacks are not good." Tony paused, drumming his fingers against his tablet. "Can you have Chandelure just go heat up a cell as much as he can?"

Maeve nodded and directed Chandelure into the next cell.

"Inferno," she told him. "Just bring it up as hot as you can and hold it there." Chandelure nodded and his purple flames flared up higher and brighter.

Tony watched, keeping track of the temperature and how long it took before the cell finally short circuited and fizzed and died.

As soon as the cell was destroyed, Maeve had Chandelure cut the heat and come back out. The pokemon looked tired as it drifted back out of the cell.

Tony grinned. "Well, that was productive. Thanks. As far as I'm concerned, you can take a nap now," he told Chandelure. "Or get a snack, I can get snacks for you, or make someone else get them, that's what I have minions for."

Chandelure didn't even respond; he just settled into a corner and fell asleep. Maeve just rolled her eyes indulgently.

Tony chuckled. "Alright, I think that's all I've got for right now." He paused. "Unless you want to watch me work on Rotom's suit again."

Maeve shrugged.

"I don't mind," she said. "I don't have anything waiting for me downstairs at all."
