Julie grinned. "I'll admit most of the pictures of him are in more public areas, so when he's on the bridge or in the mess hall." She snickered. "Since he doesn't seem to like to leave the helicarrier anymore."
"He never seems to need to," Steve pointed out. "He has all of SHIELD to do that for him."
"No kidding." Julie smiled a little. "So, mind if I take a look? Or would you prefer not?"
"You--want to?" Steve asked, a bit surprised. "I guess so... some of them aren't finished, though." He handed her the sketchbook, turning faintly red.
Julie looked through the sketch book, her eyebrows shooting up. "Damn. It doesn't matter that they're not finished, these are great." She grinned. "I especially like the one where Tony and Ninetails look almost identically miffed."
"It's just a hobby," Steve said modestly as she kept flipping pages. "Though I'm trying to have at least one for everyone."
"Hey, it's a good hobby to have," Julie said, shooting him a smile. "Something fun that you can relax while working on, but still challenging. Besides, you're good at it."
"Thanks," Steve said, still a bit red.
Julie smiled a little and handed his notebook back when she was finished.
Which was when Electrike figured Steve must be fine and decided to climb him. "Hey, no, bad, no, Captain America is not a climbing tree!" Julie scrambled after Electrike, trying to pluck him off Steve. |
Steve chuckled and handed the pokemon back to her.
"It's no problem," he said. "Eevee does it all the time." |
"Still, he should be better behaved than that." Julie was still pink, going back to her seat and putting Electrike in her lap. "Sorry, Steve."
"Really, it's alright," Steve replied. He looked at the little pokemon. "You know," he said to it, "Eevee is in the next room, I'm sure she'd like someone to play with."
Electrike perked up a bit at that and he scampered off to go play. Vulpix sneezed after him and jumped into Julie's lap.
Julie laughed a little. "Sounds like you've had some experience with little ones." |
"Some," Steve admitted, flushing a little. "A lot of my audiences when I was touring were kids, and they had a lot of young pokemon with them."
Julie smiled. "Yeah, that would give you some experience," she agreed, grinning. "Ever tried dealing with a school room full of 'em?"
"Would a school full of them count?" Steve grinned a bit, a little embarrassed. "An entire auditorium full."
Julie laughed. "That must have been interesting," she said, grinning at him. "Were you Captain America by then?"
"Oh yes," Steve replied, nodding. "By that time, they had already finished filming the first season of the weekly series, and I had taken up a few tour stops."
"Then they all adored you," Julie said with a grin. "I bet the boys at least all wanted to be just like you."
"It was a bit embarrassing, really," Steve admitted. "I mean, I'm just a kid from Brooklyn, I'm nothing special."
"Maybe you weren't, but you made yourself someone special when you decided to go rescue a few hundred people by yourself," Julie said gently. "Not many people would have done that, Steve."
"I couldn't just leave them," Steve pointed out. He paused. "Wait, how do you know about that?"
"I work at SHIELD now remember?" Julie smiled a little. "Coulson gave us a briefing on everyone on the team so we'd have a better idea about everyone. He... might have gone on a little tangent about you."
"Ah, right," Steve said. "My apologies." He couldn't help but grin a bit at the mention of Coulson. "I imagine he did."
"Don't worry, I imagine it's still kind of odd for people to know all about your past." Julie grinned. "Hopefully I don't embarrass you or anything, just let me know if I do, okay?"
