"Yeah," Maeve said, making a face. "Some moron's about to get it from the Director."
"Oh?" Tony grinned. He could go hack into the system to find out, but he wanted to see if Maeve would tell him first.
"Bad intel," Maeve said shortly. "Things went a bit pear-shaped at the end, we had to book it out early."
"Yeah, Fury's going to have their ass for that," Tony said, looking at her. "Is Julie alright? You're here, so I'm assuming she's not dead or in surgery, but there's still a big range of things that could be not okay."
"She's resting," Maeve said. "She caught an Ariados bite, so she's healing up. I'm just here to pick up Vulpix and Electrike for her."
"They're down in the gym with Steve." Tony stretched a bit and resettled himself. "Are you alright?"
"Just..." Maeve sighed. "Yeah. I'm fine. Pissed off, but fine."
Tony grinned briefly and grabbed his phone. "Don't worry, I'll get video of Fury chewing out whoever the idiot is," he said cheerfully. "And Coulson."
"I've already promised Julie I'll spam all of SHIELD with it," Maeve said, grinning a bit. "I hate bad intel the way Zangoose hate Sevipers."
Tony snorted, his fingers flying across the touch screen. "Can't blame you there, especially when someone's muck-up gets your partner hurt."
"Even worse when someone's screw-up put my asset within reach of Doom himself," Maeve muttered.
Tony's gaze sharpened at that. "Sorry, what was that?" he asked pleasantly, looking up at her.
Maeve studied his expression for a moment.
"Classified," she finally said. "You know, mission details and all." |
"Of course." Tony kept his expression pleasant, though inwardly he was a little shocked. He knew SHIELD kept tabs on Doom, but he was shocked that someone was stupid enough to screw up about Doom being home or not. That was kind of hard to mess up.
Maeve raised an eyebrow, but let it lie. She wouldn't be able to stop him from hacking SHIELD, like she knew he would, but at least this way she could claim not to know about it.
Tony set up the feed and set it to record before he set his phone down.
"So are you just here to collect Julie's two and then go rest for a while yourself?" |
Maeve nodded.
"That was the plan," she said. "Julie's at her apartment, and I don't think she should be up and about yet, so I volunteered to get her pokemon for her." |
Tony nodded. "I'll make sure there's somewhere for her to sit and rest all day for the next few days," he said, grinning briefly. "I doubt she'll be content to stay at her apartment for long."
"I'll be lucky if she's content to stay there until tomorrow," Maeve said, making a bit of a face. "I couldn't even get her to stay in medical."
Tony snorted. "Sounds like Clint. And Steve. And Natasha. And, hell, everyone involved with the team."
"Bad influences, the lot of you," Maeve teased, grinning. "I understand Coulson's frustrations with you all now."
Tony snickered. "Well, I don't know about the others, but I am a joy to be around. I even hold worship of me every third Friday of the month."
"At least you picked Friday," Maeve said, grinning. "Considering Thursday is taken."
"I was going to do Thursdays originally, but, then, y'know, Norse god and all, so I changed to Fridays." Tony grinned.
Maeve couldn't help but snort.
"Indeed," she said. She grinned. "Please tell me there's a sign somewhere that says 'Thorsday' on it. Preferably with glitter or something." |
