Gardevoir gave Tony a Look at the nickname, but took a preliminary shot at the tablet with Psychic. It was even a battle-worthy Psychic, rather than the weak demonstration-type move she typically had to do for SHIELD demonstrations.

Tony just snickered at the Look and watched to make sure there was no damage before he grinned. Excellent, it was working like he'd hoped.

Gardevoir waved Tony out of the way again, this time using Focus Blast on the tablet. Fighting-type moves weren't her strongest type, but she was no slouch there.

The tablet held up to a few more direct hits before it cracked, fizzed and spluttered, and went dark.

"Well, that lasted longer than I thought," Tony said cheerfully. "What do you think? Good enough for field use, or should I up the endurance some more?"

Gardevoir thought about it and shrugged. As far as she could tell, it needed actual field testing.

Tony snorted at the shrug. "I need to find a way for us to communicate more effectively," he said, walking over to the bench again and setting down the broken tablet.

There wasn't much for Gardevoir to gesture about for that, so she just shrugged again.

Turning over ideas in the back of his mind, Tony went back to work on the tablet, grabbing a new one and getting it up to the same specs as the last one. Now he just had to hand it off to someone to field test for him.

Gardevoir waited a few more minutes to see if he still needed help, and then headed back upstairs to keep an eye on things.

Maeve woke up a while later, stretching a little and trying to work out the kinks in her neck. Ditto wrapped itself around her shoulders as she got up and went to see where everyone is.

Tony was still in his workshop at that point, and Julie was down in the gym with Clint and Natasha. They'd accepted her as a fellow SHIELD agent (and potential squeeze of Captain America, because hello, spies here) so she was allowed to hang out with them and play referee.

Once Maeve knew where Julie was (and she wasn't about to interrupt the 'game' in the gym) she headed down to the workshop. When she got there, she knocked softly on the doorframe.

It took Tony a minute to respond, and then he looked over at her.

"Oh, hey, feeling more sentient now?"

"Much more," Maeve replied, grinning a bit. "I really needed that rest. When they say gauntlet tournament, they mean it."

Tony snorted. "Well, at least you're done," he pointed out. "Don't have to worry about that anymore."

"Except for the mission report and the paperwork," Maeve grumbled. "And then my paperwork, for this one," she added, nudging Ditto.

Tony snickered. "This is why I hire people to do paperwork," he said. "Unfortunately I don't think you can. Coulson's a slave driver."

"You can hire people," Maeve said, "while I am the hired people." She grinned a bit. "Anyways, I'm guessing nothing fell apart in the couple days I was gone?"

"Nah, everything here was good. Julie is endlessly entertaining to tease when she can only limp, and Steve is crushing on her so hard and doesn't even realize it. Neither of them do." Tony grinned hugely.

Maeve blinked.

"Steve... likes her likes her?" she asked, trying to clarify. She shook her head a bit, grinning just a little. "This girl. She has no idea just how much paperwork she costs me sometimes."

Tony snickered. "Yup. And neither of them has a clue." He grinned. Clearly he loved having entertainment at their expense.

"Which means I should probably hit HR and get the SHIELD dating form," Maeve commented. "I didn't think I'd need to keep a copy of that..." She rolled her eyes, and Ditto trilled a bit from her shoulders.

Tony snickered unsympathetically and poked at Ditto. "You're looking better too," he said with a grin. "And I have no idea what you are. I should probably not test on you though."

Maeve couldn't help but grin a bit, and Ditto squirmed away from being poked.

"This is a Ditto," she said. "Dittos are unique in that they can change their entire molecular structure to become an exact copy of any pokemon they've seen before." Her grin faded a bit. "This one was a prize in the gauntlet tournament. I ended up winning it, and it didn't want to leave me. It's still a bit skittish around too many people."

"Poor kid." Tony stopped poking it but he didn't back off. "Well, better off with you than anyone else. Oh, hey, I've got something I want you and Julie to test for me." He handed over one of the field-ready tablets.

"A tablet?" Curious, Maeve turned it over a couple of times and then turned it on.
