Maeve nodded to Ditto, who roared and fired a Hyper Beam at the tablet.
Tony had them keep throwing attacks at the tablet until it broke. He looked pleased.
"Good, that's longer than I expected it would last," he said, picking up the thoroughly killed tablet. |
"Good to know," Maeve said, nodding to Ditto again. The pokemon let go of the Tyrannitar form and shrank back down to its normal shape and color. Maeve picked it up and cuddled it again.
"Which means for field use, as long as you're not using it as a shield, it should work well enough." Tony grinned and tossed the dead one in the trash pile. "Excellent." He spent a few moments standing there preening.
"And I'm guessing it's safe to assume they're waterproof and surge-resistant?" Maeve asked.
"Waterproof, surge-resistant, recharagable by pokemon, not effected by ghosts flying through it, crack-resistant, shatter-resistant... Although only to a degree. Dropping it from the Helicarrier will still kill it."
"I imagine it's not feasible to have it made out of adamantium," Maeve pointed out. "So shatter-resistant to a degree is still great."
Tony snickered. "If you drop it while you're standing, it'll be fine," he agreed. "Anything else, you're on your own. And no, I was going to try with adamantium but it doesn't play well with anything else and that stuff is too expensive for Fury."
"Like I said, I don't imagine adamantium is feasible." Maeve grinned. "I'll give this to Jules and let her play around with it for a while. She'll know better than I will what kind of use a field agent will get out of it."
"She has her own down here still," Tony said with a shrug. "So you can both test them at the same time. I was going to pass hers along to Cap so he can give it to her when he goes to check on her."
"Alright, then," Maeve said. That was as good a plan as any. She stretched a bit, trying to work a kink out of her shoulders.
Tony noticed but didn't say anything for the moment about it.
"You planning on sticking around down here for a while?" |
"Possibly," Maeve said. "I might go and try to catch some more sleep. I like a good tournament as much as the next trainer, but gauntlets are brutal."
Tony nodded. "There's guest rooms if you want somewhere more comfortable to sleep," he told her, already hunched over his project again. "Or I can get Happy to drive you home."
Maeve paused.
"You're letting me use a guest room?" she asked. "I'm just as comfortable crashing on a couch, you know, it's alright." |
"What's the point of having guest rooms if no one uses them?" Tony asked with a shrug. "It's more comfortable than the couches, although not much. I buy awesome couches. But it's also less likely to have Clint popping into play a video game." He paused and grinned. "Although I'd love to see what you'd do to him if he tried to do that to you, it would be hysterical and he'd never live it down."
Maeve rolled her eyes a bit.
"Only Coulson and Natasha can really make Clint regret coming out of nowhere for video games," she said. "Which is usually good enough." |
Tony just shrugged. "Up to you," he said, glancing over at her. "But if you decide to take my advice, because I give excellent advice, the guest rooms are open."
"I think I will," Maeve said, nodding. She rolled her shoulders a little. "Ugh, what I wouldn't give for a long soak in a hot tub..."
"Sorry, you'd have to ask Nat for that one," Tony said with a brief grin. "She demanded a hot tub. So she's the only one in the Tower who has one."
Maeve made a face. She didn't typically like interacting with Natasha, the assassin always made her feel horrendously insecure.
"Maybe I can get Jules to put in a good word for me or something," she muttered. |
Tony just shrugged. The female assassin still scared him from time to time. Besides, he wasn't going anywhere near her standing pool of water. Ever.
"I may need to ask around the handler boards and see if anyone knows a good masseuse," Maeve commented. "I'd pay good money for a proper massage." She shook her head. "A hot bath will have to do for now. A hot bath and real sleep."
"Well, you can get one of those two here," Tony said. "And I know a few good masseuses."
Maeve grinned a bit.
"I may have to ask you for those when I'm not quite as close to breaking out into nonsense babbling," she said. "I need to go get some sleep. So I'm going to take you up on the offer of a guest room, if the offer's still open." |
