"Jarvis works according to your programming," Maeve said. She grinned. "Still your fault, ultimately."

Steve nodded and got up, offering a hand to help her to her feet.

Tony snorted and didn't even dignify that with a response, instead taking another large bite of shwarma.

Julie took his hand and got up, looking at him and motioning for him to lead the way.

Maeve grinned, but didn't push it any farther, working on her dinner again.

"So what are you working on in the workshop?" she asked after a minute. "Anything interesting that you can dumb down into layman?"

Steve walked with her to the elevators.

"It's not far," he said. "Would you like to walk, or would you rather not?"

"Well, like I said, the new armor." Tony shrugged. "Getting the working prototype of the interpreter I told you about."

"We can walk," Julie said with a shrug. She didn't mind. "Well, long as you don't mind being seen walking down the street with some woman. If the media gets hold of this they'll be all over it, you know."

"How's the interpreter going?" Maeve asked. Because she did remember him telling her about it. The suit was typical; he was always building and upgrading armors.

"The media should mind its own business," Steve said honestly. "I don't understand why they have to--to stalk people like they do. People have a right to their private lives staying private."

"So far, just need to figure out a way to make the prototype work, and then I can start testing it." Tony shrugged.

"I know what you mean." Julie shrugged. "But I'm also used to having my private life not entirely private. SHIELD has to know everything."

Maeve nodded.

"Should be interesting once it goes into testing," she said.

"I noticed," Steve replied. He shook his head. "Though I guess SHIELD isn't so different from the army, that way. A lot of the guys called it 'your life in a folder.'"

"Oh trust me, you'll know once it goes into testing because I will be testing it on Gardevoir." Tony grinned at her.

Julie snorted. "Yeah, I know how that is," she agreed. "Well, maybe we'll get lucky. And Coulson and Fury can't get mad at us, we have the paperwork ready. Apparently."

Maeve grinned as well.

"Like I said, should be interesting."

"What paperwork is it?" Steve asked, curious.

Tony snorted and stretched out a bit. "What do you think would be better: having the translation read aloud or just available on the screen to read?"

"There's paperwork for coworkers to date," Julie said with a shrug. "Maeve said she had it ready for us to sign, so."

"For the moment, just available to read, I think," Maeve said, thinking about it for a second. "Change it once the initial tweaks are done."

Steve looked a bit confused.

"There's paperwork for that sort of thing?" he asked. "Isn't that a little... impersonal?"

Tony nodded. He'd go set it up once they were done chatting and then he could test it. Hopefully. If it didn't spark and die.

"Sort of," Julie said after a moment. "It's also a way to cover their asses. And so they can keep track. They usually try not to put couples on missions together."

Maeve stretched a bit and settled in. It was still nice out, so she saw no need to go inside yet.

"I suppose that makes sense," Steve admitted. "But still. Shouldn't it only be the business of the people in question if they want to date?"

Tony checked on everything in the tower through Jarvis before stretching out to get some sun. Hey, he lived in California part-time (or he had) so he liked sunbathing sometimes.

"I would say yes if it were anyone but SHIELD," Julie said with a shrug. "Really, it's a bunch of spies, even if they weren't told, they'd know. But it's not their business to know what else we do, just to know that we're dating. It's not so bad. I mean, could be worse, right?"

"I suppose," Steve replied, a little uncertainly. "People didn't need as much information like this before."

Julie shrugged. "I think it would bother me more if I wasn't used to SHIELD invasiveness." After a moment she tucked her arm through his. "But enough of that. I'd rather not talk about work."

"Alright, then," he said. "What would you rather talk about?"

"Saw a cute female Arcanine a few days ago," Julie teased with a grin.

"I see," he replied. "Maybe we'll have to introduce her to my Arcanine, then."

"It's quite possible," Julie agreed mildly. "See what he thinks." She grinned. Because really the thought of having a bunch of Growlithe pups was just awesome.

Steve smiled and led her into the diner as they got there. He nodded to the hostess at the door, and went to a table off in the corner, away from most of the main dining room. A waitress quickly came over and left menus on the table, blushing as she looked at Steve before hurrying away.

Julie watched the waitress go and snorted. She couldn't blame the woman after all.

"Come here often?" she asked, starting to browse the menu. Because she could see him being very comfortable here.

"Most of them," Steve admitted. "Some of the ones who have been here the longest don't anymore, but the new ones do."
